Bristol Palin Buys A House In Arizona For $172,000 - In Cash

Bristol Palin, 20-year-old daughter of Sarah Palin, has bought a home in Maricopa, an outlying Valley suburb in Pinal County.%0D %0D Aside from the celebrity buyer, the political family and Dancing With the Stars, the purchase of the five-bedroom house represents a typical real-estate saga in Arizona.%0D %0D Public records show the home was built in 2006 and bought for $329,560. It went into foreclosure in January of this year.%0D %0D The home was then purchased in May for $137,200 by Michael and Cynthia Smith, a couple from North Dakota, as an investment.%0D %0D They fixed it up and put it back on the market.%0D %0D Bristol Palin bought it this month for $172,000 in cash.%0D %0D Sarah Palin has been a frequent visitor to Arizona since she ran for vice president on a ticket with Sen. John McCain in 2008.%0D %0D The Arizona Republic could not reach Bristol Palin to ask whether she plans to become a young snowbird or a full-time Arizonan.%0D %0D "I'm not sure why she wanted to buy that home, but we are real happy for her," said Michael Smith, 55.%0D %0D "She seems like a nice girl. We're excited for her."%0D %0D %0D %0D

She needs a place to raise the BABY!

by Miareply 212/24/2010

She's a whore

by Miareply 312/24/2010

Who cares? She's an un-person; ignore her.

by Miareply 412/24/2010

And I bet when she paid, she took that money out of a sack with a dollar sign.

by Miareply 512/24/2010

On Dancing with the Stars, she was crying a couple of times because she 'missed her family in Alaska'.%0D %0D Now she is going to live separately from her 'family' and live in Arizona while they stay in Alaska?

by Miareply 612/24/2010

Who said the GOP was only the party of the rich?

by Miareply 712/24/2010

I can't stand Sarah Palin at all.. But, R1 that was completely uncalled for. Bristol has done nothing to warrant any sort of hate . Except for Dancing with the Stars.. It's not her fault her mother is Sarah Palin. Seems to me she's trying to distance herself away from her and Mommy is more than happy to comply with giving her the payoff money. Poor girl seems to be neglected in the press by her mom.

by Miareply 812/24/2010

Stay the fuck in Alaska.

by Miareply 912/24/2010

yeah, R8, crying a river over Bristol Palin, famewhore. Poor baby, neglected, with no obviously talents or abilities yet somehow can pay cash for a house. %0D %0D It is possible to live in anonymity even if your mother is famous. Of course you have to want to live in anonymity. And Bristol doesn't. She's shaking her ass on television to keep in the public view. She's moaning and growning to anyone who will listen.%0D %0D Yeah, poor baby. %0D %0D

by Miareply 1012/24/2010

As long as it's not Hollywood or Washington DC I couldn't give a shit.

by Miareply 1112/24/2010

R11-Shut up bitch. Noone is crying a river over Bristol. That was a horrible thing to say period. I don't really care for Bristol at all. She playing the cards she was dealt is all. At least that what it seems to me. I have nothing but disdain for Sarah and Todd Palin. But, seems like picking on her kids is a bit much. %0D %0D But, what's wrong with me trying to talk sense to a bitter idiot.. Nevermind go find something constructive to do with your own miserable existence.

by Miareply 1212/24/2010

I think r3's on to something.

It's just a little bitty pissant country place...

by Miareply 1312/24/2010

Five bedrooms, huh?%0D %0D One for her. One for her first child that they pretended was her mother's. One for the election year baby. And, one for the one she's pregnant with now. I assume the other will be used as a study where she can work on her PhD, er, I mean eat chips and watch soap operas.

by Miareply 1412/24/2010

It's better than blowing it on Chanel handbags, I guess.

by Miareply 1612/24/2010

One minute she cannot stand being away from her family in Alaska (while she was on DWTS) now the next minute she is going to set up a household on her own a long distance from her family in Alaska.%0D %0D Which is it?

by Miareply 1712/24/2010

R15, if I were her, I'd be more scared of you than any detractor on this thread so far. Your next comment will probably be about how fresh her panties smell and how clean she keeps her bedroom closet.

by Miareply 1812/24/2010

Just make sure you stay off my lawn, bitch. Your family has caused me enough grief.

by Miareply 1912/24/2010

There goes the neighborhood

by Miareply 2012/24/2010

R18, you add nothing to this discussion.%0D %0D Act your age.

by Miareply 2112/24/2010

by Miareply 2612/24/2010

by Miareply 2712/24/2010

Well, OK.

by Miareply 2812/24/2010

I wonder if she is through with acting as her mother's housekeeper.

Sarah Palin has always said she won't hire household help, but she's jetting all over the place being a celebrity while her children are at home, apparently with Bristol taking care of the other children and the house.

I know quite a few people who live in AZ who are not right wing reactionaries. It's entirely possible she'll meet a better class of people and show her back side to her family.

by Miareply 2912/24/2010

I think DL needs to ban the frau at r21 - sheesh flyover frau, get a fricking life and stop being obsessed with SP!

2ndly, I am no fan of BP/SP, but wouldn't BP have gotten enough money for that house by being on DWTS?

by Miareply 3012/24/2010

I agree with R29

by Miareply 3112/24/2010

R30 needs to a) learn how to read & b)yes, she eaned more than enough to buy said house. c) Not "obsessed" with anyone. I did not start this thread...%0D %0D Merry Christmas to All...

by Miareply 3212/24/2010

R15- I didn't know she worked. But, that's still quite a bit of money. Just how much was she making to afford to pay that in cash? I really think that money came from Sarah. I could see Sarah doing that she seems cold and vain. Like go away now. Now that the younger sisters can mind the kids. %0D %0D I'm glad she is reaching out to Teen moms. It really does seems she has been through the ringer. Moving away from home where she is supposed to have a support group of family and friends is telling. %0D %0D The last time I saw Levi on Bill Maher's show, Bill kept trying to get him to say something negative about Bristol or the Palins. He wouldn't chuckled about the stuff about Sarah. He said something re: Bristol "That's the mother of my child". I could since that maybe he grew up just a little bit. Or perhaps he's planning on moving in with her and the baby?%0D %0D I hope she's at least smart to invest her money and drop the losers from her life.

by Miareply 3312/24/2010

DWTS contestants are reported to get $100,000 - 150,000 to sign on the show + 20K a each week they remain, semi finalists 30K per week and finalists 40K per week + extras. Bristol earned more than enough to buy AZ house outright from DWTS

by Miareply 3412/24/2010
I didn't know she worked. But, that's still quite a bit of money. Just how much was she making to afford to pay that in cash? I really think that money came from Sarah.

Hmm, I think you're failing to understand that Bristol earned a huge amount of money on Dancing With The Stars.

by Miareply 3512/24/2010

Arizona is warm and it's far, far, far away from Levi.

by Miareply 3712/24/2010

Actually, the town she bought in - Maricopa - is a relatively low-cost mostly-new community, that built up like crazy right before the real estate bust. People are snapping up homes for way less than they originally sold for; what she paid ($172K I think they said) is actually on the higher side for the area.

I'd also be willing to bet that the town is primarily liberal Democrat. Lots of singles and young couples, owning their first homes.

Local newscast here in AZ, they were interviewing a couple of her neighbors, who didn't seem exactly thrilled about her moving there.

by Miareply 3812/24/2010
Who cares? She's an un-person; ignore her.

Exactly. Most celebrities these days have zero appeal. I don't understand how there is any interest in the majority of them. I just ignore them.

by Miareply 3912/24/2010

Is R34 Bristol's aunt hoping to cash in? What a loon.%0D %0D Even if she made $300,000 on DWTS, all that means is she has no idea how to take care of money because she just blew a whole lot of it on a house. I bet she loses the house because she doesn't pay the taxes.%0D %0D "Bristol Sheeran Marie Palin"%0D %0D This just makes me feel sorry for her. I suppose R34 will now pipe in that Sheeran is just here Eskimo name from Todd's clan, right? %0D %0D %0D

by Miareply 4012/25/2010

Maricopa is a local joke. There are LARGE feedlots within a few miles and when you arrive there, you notice the scent of cow shit in the air. Of course considering who this girl used to live with, I am sure its stepping up.

by Miareply 4112/25/2010

Oh shit! As if the rest of the state wasn't bad enough

by Miareply 4212/25/2010

She won't get a tax break paying cash for a house.

by Miareply 4312/25/2010

Is he deliberately trying to keep Levi away from his son? She's just like her horrible mother.

by Miareply 4412/25/2010

Levi does have some custody agreement, right? How can she move the kid out of state? %0D %0D This is Mama Palin's house. They're probably going to turn it into an orphanage and rent a few kids in order to cover up Bristol's latest pregnancy.

by Miareply 4512/25/2010
Stay the fuck in Alaska.

No, we want her gone. We're hoping she'll take the rest of her family with her (including Levi) and never come back.

And Arizona is where all the asshole Teabag types and Palin hangers-on are moving right now. It's not clear why. Maybe it's because the weather has been hovering around zero for the past three weeks when it's not usually this cold in December. Tom Van Flein (Palin's lawyer) is moving to AZ too. We are happy to be rid of them all.

by Miareply 4612/25/2010

What does she tell those teen moms she works with? "I guess you were as stupid as I was." "It's much easier being a teen mom when your mom is a famous asswipe." "How many of you flunked abstinence-only sex education like I did?" Do they compare notes on whose baby has the biggest turd for a father? Do they compare stories to see who was the biggest skank? Do they sit around pretending they were all like the Virgin Mary and that they are actually more American for getting knocked up young?

by Miareply 4912/25/2010

Dammit folks, I'm sorry. I was trying to do the quote box in R48 and I still don't have it right.%0D %0D Can someone please tell me the right way to do this. %0D %0D I hate having a stupid looking post.

by Miareply 5012/25/2010

R50, just use the straight bracket on the same keys you used to type the fancy bracket. No shift key.

by Miareply 5112/25/2010

Thanks, R51 . Hopefully my next quote box attempt won't look so stupid. I'll try it here:%0D %0D
"Thanks R 51"

by Miareply 5312/25/2010

R52, you should actually spend your time figuring out trolldar because you were way too obvious.

by Miareply 5412/25/2010

I am obviously having trouble with the quote box. %0D %0D I have no trouble with troll-dar.%0D %0D Please elaborate, R54

by Miareply 5512/25/2010

You did the quote function correctly at R52, except for the capital letters. The word quote is in all lower case letters and enclosed in [ ]. No space between the last bracket and the first word of the quote.

by Miareply 5612/25/2010

Can anyone explain to me why r12 was set off by R11's innocuous reply?

by Miareply 5712/25/2010
She won't get a tax break paying cash for a house.

Who the hell would give her a mortgage, R43? She is a single mother with no regular source of income. She got a one-time windfall from DWTS and she parlayed it into a home. I think it makes sense for her to buy a house; she has a roof over her and her child[ren]'s heads, and the upkeep, insurance and taxes are less than she would pay for rent.

She will be a long way from her mother, probably the reason she chose Arizona. After Alaska, the Arizona climate would be seductive.

by Miareply 6512/25/2010
And Arizona is where all the asshole Teabag types and Palin hangers-on are moving right now.

(Sigh) ... I was afraid that would happen. Sarah has done several book signings/readings in the Phoenix area, and got HUGE crowd paying attention to her. I remember a sound bite where she said she was "overwhelmed" by the friendly support she found here.

If I would have known this would happen, I would have attended her book signings with a bucket of tar and feathers ...

by Miareply 8312/26/2010

She was working in Alaska, and she'll probably continue working. She would have to pay rent on at least a 2-bedroom apartment anyway. Taxes (and insurance) wouldn't cost her any more than rent.

I definitely think this was about getting away from her mother and making a life for herself.

Dear R86,%0D %0D I hope your New Year's Resolution is to be civil and kind to others....

by Miareply 8812/27/2010

R38, %0D %0D %0D Pinal County (Florence) voted in 2008 for John McCain 56.38% to Barack Obama at 41.99. That's a margin of 14.39% -- a Republican ID of 5.91% above the 8.48% by which McCain (with 53.39% to Obama's 44.91%) had carried his home state of Arizona.%0D %0D Last time Pinal County voted Democratic was in 1996, when incumbent Bill Clinton became the first (and, thus far, only) Democrat to carry Arizona since post-World War II. Clinton won Pinal by over 18 points. But the combined raw vote going to Bob Dole vs. Bill Clinton was under 35,000 -- and, in 2008, that tripled to 103,000-plus for McCain vs. Obama. %0D %0D %0D Not surprising. Arizona had 8 electoral votes in the 1990s. In the 2000s, it had 10 electoral votes. Recent U.S. Census Bureau results show Arizona will go up to 11 electoral votes, and it will be matched with Massachusetts and Indiana.%0D %0D %0D %0D [italic]Wikipedia[/italic]: ... Demographics ... by Miareply 8912/27/2010

In general, it's really stupid to buy a house outright. Bristol couldn't have made much more than $300K on DWTS, so what she paid for that piece of shit house is about half her take from DWTS. She will never be able to sell that house for what she paid for it, and she'll get no mortgage tax deduction. Shitty investment.

r15, Bristol Palin didn't even graduate from high school. She barely got her GED and she probably only got that because her mother was governor. I doubt Bristol earned much from an office job, if she ever really had one. She has no skills and little intelligence.

When is her new baby due, by the way? Judging from the way she looked on DWTS, I'm guessing before Easter.

by Miareply 9012/27/2010

R90, disagree.%0D %0D Bristol owns an almost new house in gated community with golf course views, modern and clean. The savings on the interest deduction is saved by hundreds of thousands in not paying interest money to a bank.%0D %0D She did not buy as a speculation house as did the sellers, who did make a profit. In 20 years or less, this house will cost much more to build and land development costs keep going up, despite current economy.

by Miareply 9112/27/2010

R91, disagree. The house Bristol bought is in area rife with continually falling house values and foreclosures. The house are very cheap construction and jammed together with tiny yards full or rocks and dirt. It is in an isolated area with very few amenities. It makes Wasilla look good.

I believe the only reason Bristol Palin (or whoever used her name) bought this house is to make some quick cash on a fast resale to one of Sarah Palin's braindead bots. Arizona is chock full of republican morons.

by Miareply 9212/27/2010

R89, I don't know what point you are trying to make. Yes, the county in which Maricopa AZ is in - along with dozens of other largely-rural towns covering most of South-central AZ - is largely Republican and Conservative. So is the entire state of Arizona. The two major metro areas - Phoenix and Tucson - have a lot of liberal and Democrats, though also a lot of "old timers" who balance it out.

Except for a very small population they had before the real estate boom, the major chunk of Maricopa's current population is made up of young families and singles, people who are more likely to be liberal Democrats. Many of them have been there for less than a year, so their impact is still to be seen.

by Miareply 9312/28/2010

Latest news update is that Bristol is planning on taking classes at ASU, which is about a 30-40 minute drive from Maricopa, without traffic or allowing time for parking.

R92, there are many properties in Maricopa that are as you describe, but not all were built cheaply. There are some excellent builders with subdivisions there as well. At what she paid, she likely has one of the best of the bunch, since many homes go for half of that.

It is indeed very isolated. I visited a friend who lives there, and - except for every fast food chain you can name - there are like three restaurants within a 20-30 minute drive. Lots of locals go to the buffet at the nearby Harrah's AkChin casino, which has better quality food than those few restaurants. Otherwise, you have to drive to Casa Grande or Chandler to eat.

The town itself is indeed isolated, in the desert between the Gila River and AkChin Indian reservations. When you get off I-10 to go to Maricopa, you literally pass through 10 miles of NOTHING before you get to the cluster of homes that make up that town. Then the casino, then nothing for another ten miles. I'd go crazy living there.

One problem that residents face (besides inadequate roads and ridiculous congestion at intersections) is the fact that the utilities are controlled by the town, which buys electric on the secondary market. Very expensive, with KwH rates that are almost 50% higher than what I pay in Phoenix.

by Miareply 9412/28/2010

R94, Thank you for your post. Fair and Balanced reporting!%0D %0D The new house looks really nice and as time goes on, new shops and stores and industry will eventually make it more like other sububurbs outside the larger city.
