On World AIDS day, let''s remember Ronald Reagan
The god of the Republican party had the blood of thousands on his hands. It wasn't until the fifth year of his presidency and tens of thousands of deaths, that he even said the word. He put politics ahead of the health of the American people. I want to puke every time someone talks about him as though he was a good president.
If legionaries had been the victims you would have seen the government jump into action immediately. Oh yeah, they did!
|by Bitter, angry queen||reply 46||02/07/2011|
oh yeah and Clinton and Obummer just love the gays! lol
|by Bitter, angry queen||reply 1||12/01/2010|
Clinton was the first President to speak to the gay community. Obama signed the Hate Crimes bill for GLBT citizens.
Reagan called California Universities filled with nothing but Communists and Homosexuals. Saint Ronnie is thankfully worm food now!

told one of my students that the most memorable Reagan AIDS moment for me was at the 1986 centenary rededication of the Statue of Liberty. The Reagans were there sitting next to French President Francois Mitterand and his wife, Danielle. Bob Hope was on stage entertaining the all-star audience. In the middle of a series of one-liners Hope quipped, "I just heard that the Statue of Liberty has AIDS but she doesn't know if she got it from the mouth of the Hudson or the Staten Island Fairy." As the television camera panned the audience, the Mitterands looked appalled. The Reagans were laughing. By the end of 1989 and the Reagan years, 115,786 women and men had been diagnosed with AIDS in the United States, and more than 70,000 of them had died.%0D %0D

[quote]"I just heard that the Statue of Liberty has AIDS but she doesn't know if she got it from the mouth of the Hudson or the Staten Island Fairy."
That's a pretty good joke.
|by Bitter, angry queen||reply 4||12/01/2010|
Probably not so funny in 1986.
|by Bitter, angry queen||reply 5||12/01/2010|

Jesus, this board becomes more repugnant by the day.
|by Bitter, angry queen||reply 8||12/01/2010|
And 30 years later gays are still having bareback sex. Who are you going to blame now?
|by Bitter, angry queen||reply 9||12/01/2010|
Don't forget that Reagan gave permission for the insurance companies to drop their coverage on any of their gay male clients. Gay men can still not give blood. Bush the First actually acknowledged that there were some children with AIDS, because they were "victims."
Before this thread gets off into (yet another) flame war, it's important to remember history: Reagan's actions (and inactions) caused many, many deaths.
|by Bitter, angry queen||reply 11||02/06/2011|
He was a puppet, a performer. He never made a single independent decision. Though that doesn't forgive him.%0D %0D I guess you can say those that revere him support everything he did. %0D %0D Sever the roots- not the limbs.
|by Bitter, angry queen||reply 12||02/06/2011|
r11's point is what I bring up whenever anyone starts fellating Reagan's corpse.
I will never respect him as a great president because of the way he allowed the epidemic to spread. And I was only a child when he was president.
|by Bitter, angry queen||reply 13||02/06/2011|
R1 R4 R6 and R9 are wretched excuses for human beings.%0D %0D Fuck off from DL, you abominable cunts.
|by Bitter, angry queen||reply 14||02/06/2011|
He "lied" for years about HIV research. He stated in public that money had been earmarked for research until it was found out that when he said "immune disease" he was talking about the common cold and no money had been directed to HIV research.
|by Bitter, angry queen||reply 15||02/06/2011|
And, R15, he should have been researching Alzheimers...%0D %0D Wretched mother-fucker that he was.
|by Bitter, angry queen||reply 16||02/06/2011|
How easy it is to blame one person for the entire AIDS crisis. What many of you conveniently forget is that it's Congress that has control of money in the US. They control the spending. So there is plenty of blame to go around. It wasn't Reagan saying "No money for the gays." It was Congress.
|by Bitter, angry queen||reply 17||02/06/2011|
"Beginning with a few hundred thousand dol- lars in FY 1981, federal HIV/AIDS funding in- creased to $8 million only one year later, and then nearly doubled every year from FY 1982 to FY 1989."

[quote]told one of my students%0D %0D You'e a teacher and this is the kind of crap you teach? Blaming Reagan for AIDS? No wonder young peope are so messed up now. You and the OP are both old queens who can't get over your pathological obsession with Reagan. You stil dream of Jimmy Carter and can't stand that Reagan won landslide elections, including New York and California. Grow up already.

[quote]It wasn't until the fifth year of his presidency and tens of thousands of deaths, that he even said the word.
What exactly do you think he could have said during his first term that would have prevented those deaths, or subsequent ones?
|by Bitter, angry queen||reply 20||02/06/2011|
[quote]Reagan called California Universities filled with nothing but Communists and Homosexuals.
So he was incorrect?
|by Bitter, angry queen||reply 21||02/06/2011|
You're right, R12. But what you fail to mention is that the same is true of all Presidents.
|by Bitter, angry queen||reply 22||02/06/2011|
Yes freeper frau R21. Are you happy now? You can now fuck off back to freeper land and leave the gays alone.
|by Bitter, angry queen||reply 23||02/06/2011|
It was a Cheryl type joke, R23. Lighten up.

Reagan said the right things at the right time to the wrong people. He said what the Right and the so called Moral Majority wanted to hear in 1980. %0D %0D They hated the Carter years, the woman's movement. They loathed women fucking around and being as cocky about it as men. They hated disco and what they termed "Fag music". The homosexauls were getting too much power and were moving into the mainstream. Something had to be done.%0D %0D Reagan and the Republicans were smart in that area. They saw the rock kids burning disco records, and saw Anita Bryant's crusade and took notes. Reagans talk of getting back to basics was code words for putting the minorites back in their place. But he was very charasmatic and personable and he could talk a good game. Not to mention Carter had his balls in a vice by Congress. People decided to go with the B movie actor. %0D %0D Truth be told, it is foolish to blame him solely for AIDS spiraling out of control. (Were there ANY polticians speaking out about it in the early 80's?) But it's equally foolish to think that he doesn't deserve a lions share of the blame. He was the leader of the country who could have done a world of good by committing himself to the cause. But he didn't. And his silence was defeaning.%0D %0D

Thank you R9! The victimhood is becoming played out.
|by Bitter, angry queen||reply 32||02/06/2011|
There is nothing that you fraus and sex-phobes love more than AIDS. It really gets your juices flowing.
|by Bitter, angry queen||reply 33||02/06/2011|
People have unprotected sex because they think it's more spontaneous and natural and feels better. Billions of unplanned pregnancies happen that way, and straights get their share of STDs. It's not like gays have a monopoly on irresponsible sexual behavior.
|by Bitter, angry queen||reply 34||02/06/2011|
"For the love of God, somebody please shit in my mouth!"
|by Bitter, angry queen||reply 35||02/06/2011|

So fuck off, freeper fuck.

Gay men are very promiscuous and abuse hard drugs. They bareback. You only have yourselves to blame for AIDS
|by Bitter, angry queen||reply 39||02/06/2011|
#39, what about the babies? The hemophiliacs? And your fellow clueless fraus who think you have a God-fearing, Christian monogamous hubby? Shouldn't the government be using your tax dollars to protect all you "innocent victims"?
|by Bitter, angry queen||reply 41||02/06/2011|
R41 why on earth do you think R39 is a female posting? This is a straight white freeper male posting. He'll probably gladly admit it.
|by Bitter, angry queen||reply 42||02/06/2011|
The coctail really destroys gay men's looks%0D don't bareback no matter what!!
|by Bitter, angry queen||reply 43||02/06/2011|
Thank you OP. We will commemorate World ADIS Day and the centenary of PResident Reagan's birth by watching two movies:%0D Longtime Companion, & And the Band Played On. %0D %0D The Bob Hope joke was vile then and it's vile now. There isn't a shred of humor in anything related to how our government "handled" the AIDS crisis.
