I've heard she's a fake bitch. Any stories, DL?
|by Anonymous||reply 179||01/30/2013|
I've heard that a lot too OP, but I personally don't know any stories.
|by Anonymous||reply 1||11/18/2010|
She's chilly, condescending and zoned out.
|by Anonymous||reply 2||11/18/2010|
You queens are very jealous, because you can't look like her.
|by Anonymous||reply 3||11/18/2010|
Weren't she and Joe Levitt an item for a while?
|by Anonymous||reply 4||11/18/2010|
She's incredibly boring. Every article written about her always hammer on about her doe-eyed, indie "quirkiness", but she's like every quirky hipster chick I've ever met. Plus, she plays the same role in every movie she's been in, no range at all.
|by Anonymous||reply 5||11/18/2010|
One of the better "actresses who sing" (she has a good voice), and an archetype of the Manic Pixie Dream Girl.
|by Anonymous||reply 6||11/18/2010|
She thinks her shit doesn't stink.
|by Anonymous||reply 7||11/18/2010|
r6 reads too much Jezebel.
|by Anonymous||reply 8||11/18/2010|
|by Anonymous||reply 9||11/18/2010|
all those indie actresses are really boring and bitchy.
Chloe Sevigny, Zooey etc.
The only one I could ever abide (and she's a lunatic) is Parker Posey.
|by Anonymous||reply 10||11/18/2010|
Parker goes to my vet. I concur that she is insane.
|by Anonymous||reply 11||11/18/2010|
What's the difference between a fake bitch and a real bitch?
|by Anonymous||reply 12||11/18/2010|
A fake bitch has plastic parts.
|by Anonymous||reply 13||11/18/2010|
I hated her in 500 Days Of Summer. there I said it.
|by Anonymous||reply 14||11/18/2010|
I've heard she has to warm up a lot to play a character with Asberger's.
|by Anonymous||reply 15||11/18/2010|
I kind of like her, but I guess I'm the only one.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||11/18/2010|
I like some of her movies, The Go Getter and The Good Life come to mind, but she's horrible in them and they'd be much better films with an actress playing her roles who doesn't seem to be on Thorazine.
|by Anonymous||reply 17||11/18/2010|
Her cotton commercials are so stupid.
But she was amusing in the TV mini-series "Tin Man."
|by Anonymous||reply 18||11/18/2010|
I don't know anything about her accept I saw her on Tv singing,she was wearing a white frilly dress & she was projecting doe-eyed innocence......that's all I need to know about her.
|by Anonymous||reply 20||11/18/2010|
|by Anonymous||reply 21||11/20/2010|
A fake bitch, really? Wouldn't that make her a sweetheart?
|by Anonymous||reply 22||11/20/2010|
Always heard Emily is the much nicer sister. I've heard Zooey isn't a bitch, per se, just a bored and boring hipster.
|by Anonymous||reply 23||11/20/2010|
What have you heard about Emily?
|by Anonymous||reply 24||11/20/2010|
No, r23, Zooey is a total bitch, she may also be dying of ennui, but she's definitely an A One cunt. I don't know how Emily couldn't be nicer, anyone would be nicer in comparison.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||11/21/2010|
Emily is Zooey minus the Asperberger's
|by Anonymous||reply 26||11/21/2010|
Singing the Star Spangled Banner
|by Anonymous||reply 27||11/04/2012|
There was a DL poster who said Zooey refused to sign an autograph for a little girl who was a fan of "Elf."
|by Anonymous||reply 28||11/04/2012|
And presenting with Jim Parsons
|by Anonymous||reply 29||11/04/2012|
Bitch's skin is flawless. At least on her face.
|by Anonymous||reply 30||11/04/2012|
R30 - I know. Great hair too.
|by Anonymous||reply 31||11/04/2012|
I just don't think she's funny.
But some people do.
|by Anonymous||reply 32||11/04/2012|
My niece age 15 met her and chatted with her. Said Ms D was friendly and kind.
But my niece is a pretty cool cat and knows how to approach a semi-famous person in a relaxed, low-key way.
|by Anonymous||reply 33||11/04/2012|
Without knowing anything about her, I loathed her on sight. She seemed to put on a faux, calculated impishness that was just a mask over pure egotism.
In other words, the exuding of cunt fools no one.
|by Anonymous||reply 34||11/04/2012|
R34 I've never met a hipster that comes across sincere. The whole (lifestyle? fad? appearence?) comes across a calculated egotism.
|by Anonymous||reply 36||11/04/2012|
I find her very attractive and love her clothes.
|by Anonymous||reply 37||11/04/2012|
Very well put r34 and r36. Hipsters are voids. Beside, Emily is prettier.
|by Anonymous||reply 38||11/05/2012|
her sister is cuter!!
|by Anonymous||reply 39||11/05/2012|
Describe the feeling of egotism you ascribe to hipsters. I'm fascinated by this.
|by Anonymous||reply 40||11/05/2012|
R39 - Zooey is cuter. Emily is beautiful, but not really cute.
|by Anonymous||reply 41||11/05/2012|
I don't know who to believe RE: whether she's bitchy, BUT...it's possible she decided to (or was told to) crank up the PR, upon leading her own series.
I totally believe she's boring or bored. It really kind of shines through. God, why do all the most boring, arrogant, and/or overrated people get to have all the money and non-stop fun times?
|by Anonymous||reply 42||11/05/2012|
R41 I see what you're sayin! Let me rephrase: Emily is more beautiful than her sister Zooey!
|by Anonymous||reply 43||11/05/2012|
Emily was gorgeous in Consn recently, clip is on YouTube.
|by Anonymous||reply 44||11/05/2012|
R42 - I don't see Zooey being bored or boring. In fact, she's very interesting to watch.
R43 - Emily has classically beatiful features, and height. I think Zooey has more of a range than Emily.
|by Anonymous||reply 45||11/05/2012|
|by Anonymous||reply 46||11/05/2012|
R45, No--I can see how people would be interested in watching her character(s). What comes off as bored or boring is herself, in interviews and random footage of her. It's either that, or an attempt at a persona gone awry...
|by Anonymous||reply 47||11/05/2012|
Acting and being interviewed are different skills.
|by Anonymous||reply 48||11/05/2012|
Not sure what you mean by that. But I'm confident in what I'm talking about, and I'm far from inept at reading people's behavior in the vast majority of contexts.
|by Anonymous||reply 49||11/05/2012|
What I meant was that some really good actors are mediocre or bad in talk show interviews, and some mediocre actors are great talk show guests.
|by Anonymous||reply 50||11/05/2012|
Why don't I get this sort of attention?!!!
|by Anonymous||reply 51||11/05/2012|
R40. Based on those that I know... Most of what they do (whether it be through dress or interaction) are calculated moves to draw attention to themselves with really no other purpose.
|by Anonymous||reply 52||11/05/2012|
...And what about just being? I'm talking reading between the lines, so to speak.
Eh. Come to think of it, I guess actors are next to never themselves for real.
|by Anonymous||reply 53||11/05/2012|
R53 - I think it's hard to tell what a person is really like for short interviews. There are exceptions, of course.
|by Anonymous||reply 54||11/05/2012|
R51 AAAHHH. HEY LENA. YOU ARE SUCH A WRY, WITTY ARTISTIC GENIUS.
THX AGAIN FOR HELPING ME LAUNCH MY OWN INTERNATIONAL MULTI-BILLION WRY, WITTY ARTISTIC GENIUS EMPIRE.
CULTS OF PERSONALITY *ROCK* WHEN THEY'RE OURS.
|by Anonymous||reply 55||11/05/2012|
|by Anonymous||reply 56||11/05/2012|
It's unanimous! We hate her!
You bitches are hilarious. Not a single poster has offered any backup for his negative opinion. Is there any younger contemporary actress any of you like?
|by Anonymous||reply 57||11/05/2012|
I know very little about her, so I have no real opinion, but I sure wish EW would stop trying to make her happen.
Swear to god, sometimes reading that magazine is kind of like Where's Waldo. "How many Zooey mentions can YOU find?"
|by Anonymous||reply 58||11/05/2012|
R57, it's so nice you shamble through life offering such copious "backup" for people to dislike you that it is considered in polite society to be needlessly prosaic to list it.
But in Deschanel's case, the fact that she is irritating, strikes us as inauthentic, appears to have limited depth, talent, and intention to perform better, and isn't funny would appear to any normal intelligence to comprise "backup."
Also, please do not presume to use the first person plural when addressing us. "You" obviously are not "we."
|by Anonymous||reply 59||11/05/2012|
Haha, slow clap for R59.
I'm audacious enough to suggest that very attentive "normal" people might correctly infer more about celebrities' "offscreen selves" (which can include their best acting) than celebrities or the media would have us think.
And the inverse doesn't always work, because most famous people choose to live in a certain custom-made bubble. Sometimes I don't know how they can all be best friends.
Based on my experiences thus far, I consider two things: I haven't met anyone wonderfully eccentric--only insane or calculated. And the more magnetic the personality, the more one shouldn't be surprised at any self-absorption or personal torture that might be present.
|by Anonymous||reply 60||11/05/2012|
Ha! I knew an ad hominem attack would be the first response. In that spirit, you sound like a total cuntbucket, r59, a fat one.
|by Anonymous||reply 61||11/05/2012|
Agreed, R50. But most of them are bad at both, even when they are slick and serviceable. Most actors are interchangeable and uninteresting.
|by Anonymous||reply 62||11/05/2012|
People often incorrectly "infer" things about others based on their own issues. I can admit that I sometimes do it, and I know I'm not the only one.
|by Anonymous||reply 63||11/05/2012|
That's true, R63. It's sometimes hard to admit to that. We all think we know everything. What are you referring to, in particular?
|by Anonymous||reply 64||11/05/2012|
r64, I was responding to R60's post, in a general sense. I didn't have a particular example in mind.
|by Anonymous||reply 65||11/05/2012|
[all posts by right wing shit-stain # a removed.]
|by Anonymous||reply 66||11/05/2012|
|by Anonymous||reply 67||11/05/2012|
R66, you mean she was worse than Kristen Stewart is in everything?
|by Anonymous||reply 68||11/05/2012|
[all posts by right wing shit-stain # a removed.]
|by Anonymous||reply 69||11/05/2012|
She has such a stupid fucking name. It's spelled "Zoe," or, at a stretch, "Zoey." No one spells it "Zooey."
This is only one of many, many things I find irritating about her.
Also, I love R59.
|by Anonymous||reply 70||11/05/2012|
Is she the one on Two Broke Girls
|by Anonymous||reply 71||11/05/2012|
r70 I think there is a Salinger connection with the name. It doesn't make it any less preposterous though.
|by Anonymous||reply 72||11/05/2012|
She appeared on an episode of Bones as a cousin that Brennan's father brought for a visit. She basically did the Asberger thing, speaking in Shakespeare lines or some shit like that, and as cool as the idea of her appearing on Bones might seem, it just wandered off into pointlessness.
Really, it wasn't funny, it hardly registered as annoying. They didn't connect in any way, and I suppose the only good thing about it was that it made Brennan look less cardboard by contrast.
I just left it thinking "what was the point?"
|by Anonymous||reply 73||11/05/2012|
No, you can't know everything, and yes--transference is a common trap. But if you have worked with enough personalities and merely observe them and the choices (or reflexes) they apply in a variety of settings over a period of time, even without having spent private time with them, it's possible to get a fairly accurate read of their baseline.
|by Anonymous||reply 74||11/05/2012|
I haven't been able to finish anything starring her, except a few episodes of New Girl. But I think those lines were written specifically for her from the very start, right? The other characters balance it out a little bit, too.
|by Anonymous||reply 75||11/05/2012|
Does anyone have stories about Parker Posey's insanity? She's the only hipster actress I like too.
|by Anonymous||reply 76||11/05/2012|
I've loathed her since I read an interview with her going on and on about how much of an "alternative" artist she is. She works for Fox, for christ's sake, was in a Will Ferrell christmas movie, was raised in the film and tv industry, sings like a little girl trying to wheedle a chocolate out of a new stepdad, and always poses with those eyes open wide in mimicry of childish idiocy.
She, in short, is full of shit.
|by Anonymous||reply 77||11/05/2012|
Could never have put it better r77. I love this:
[quote]sings like a little girl trying to wheedle a chocolate out of a new stepdad
|by Anonymous||reply 78||11/05/2012|
Parker Posey is a hipster? I kind of like her, too, and I hate hipsters.
|by Anonymous||reply 79||11/05/2012|
Well said, R74. You usually get the 'essence' pretty quickly with most(but not all) people.
|by Anonymous||reply 80||11/05/2012|
Hipsters are not complex or deep people, to say the least.
|by Anonymous||reply 81||11/05/2012|
Most hipsters are probably politically conservative.
|by Anonymous||reply 82||11/05/2012|
Is there a correlation between hipsters and autism/asbergers?
|by Anonymous||reply 83||11/05/2012|
R70 - her parent, Caleb and Mary, named her Zooey based on the Salinger book Frankie and Zooey.
R73 - actually, her character on Bones made sense. Brennan has some Asperberger like tendencies herself.
|by Anonymous||reply 84||11/05/2012|
PS: that is a serious question.
|by Anonymous||reply 85||11/05/2012|
Brennan does have some aspergers tendencies, but she is still notably human. But Zooey is aspergers like in real life.
|by Anonymous||reply 86||11/05/2012|
R86 - Zooey's character showed that Asperberger's runs in Brennan's family. Zooey has played a variety of characters, most of whom are in the that spectrum.
|by Anonymous||reply 87||11/05/2012|
R82 - that's idiotic. Why the hate for hipsters?
|by Anonymous||reply 88||11/05/2012|
That about sums it up R52. Nothing else needs to be said because there is nothing more to hipsters.
|by Anonymous||reply 90||11/05/2012|
R53, most actors are vapid people waiting to be told what to do(not just in regards to acting). They usually aren't the artists that we imagine them to be.
|by Anonymous||reply 91||11/05/2012|
R61, since you, somehow are omniscient as well as unable to read, why don't you just try focusing on the fact that you posted an idiot post.
And it isn't an ad hominem response to point out that a cunt is a cunt, cunt. It's called "backup," although it is true that your issues are evident without drawing attention to them.
|by Anonymous||reply 92||11/05/2012|
[quote] Is there any younger contemporary actress any of you like?
Off the top of my head. Kirsten Dunst is good.
|by Anonymous||reply 93||11/05/2012|
r81, those aren't the real hipsters.
The ones you're talking about are the cultural lampreys who will latch onto any trend that makes them look cool or inflates their self-importance.
|by Anonymous||reply 94||11/05/2012|
Interesting, R60. More insights, please! What do you know, any names?
|by Anonymous||reply 95||11/05/2012|
Oh, please tell us about the real hipsters, R94! As far as I can tell, nobody in the entire world will admit to being a hipster! They all know it's something to be ashamed of when called on it.
|by Anonymous||reply 96||11/05/2012|
Okay, well if there's such a thing as a "real" or "authentic" hipster, I highly doubt that a successful actor or entertainer can be one.
|by Anonymous||reply 97||11/05/2012|
Being a hipster is a complete affectation, just like being a wigger.
|by Anonymous||reply 98||11/05/2012|
You haven't gotten laid in a very long time, have you, r92?
|by Anonymous||reply 99||11/05/2012|
Emily on Conan:
|by Anonymous||reply 100||11/05/2012|
r98, you're full of shit. You obviously have no real world experience with either.
Eminem is a good example of an authentic wigger.
Not so much now, obviously. The ghetto edges are smoothed over on all urban entertainers who are successful, black or white.
Really poor whites excluded from lower middle or working class society end up living around and with blacks. The cultures mix and you end up with people who grow up using black slang and listening to black music.
|by Anonymous||reply 101||11/05/2012|
I'm one of the 'real' hipsters! I found the new trend first! BTW, I'm not actually a hipster.....
|by Anonymous||reply 102||11/05/2012|
Ask Sirri, dumbmitter.
|by Anonymous||reply 103||11/05/2012|
Her father Caleb is a highly respected yet deeply hated cinematographer (I think he won an Oscar for The Black Stallion). He's always had a reputation for being a thoroughly nasty piece of shit. I don't know about Emily but apparently in Zoey's case the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
|by Anonymous||reply 104||11/05/2012|
Recent photo shoot.
|by Anonymous||reply 105||11/06/2012|
[r101] the term "wigger" by its very nature denotes non-authenticity
|by Anonymous||reply 106||11/06/2012|
her show "The New Girl " would actually be better without her , I think it would flow better with just the guys.
|by Anonymous||reply 107||11/06/2012|
Please more inside info on Parker Posey. Insane? She seems perfectly wonderful to me. Easily my current favorite actress. You all saw her on her Louie arc this season, right?
What happened at the vet's office, R11?

Maybe. Maybe not.

Zooey on Letterman about looking like Katy Perry.
|by Anonymous||reply 113||11/17/2012|
[quote]Zooey on Letterman about looking like Katy Perry.
OMG, the slight irked-ness in Zooey's response makes me actually like her for something now. I'd definitely take her over KP.
Really, though, I think their only big similarity is the gigantic eyes. I'm also surprised that the two haven't met multiple times; they seem to share quite a few mutual friends.
|by Anonymous||reply 114||11/17/2012|
R114 - Yes, Zooey and KP both have he big, beautiful eyes. The hairstyle is also similar. But they do differ some in features. I think Zooey is more attractive and more interesting.
|by Anonymous||reply 115||11/17/2012|
KP was supposed to be an American Lily Allen. At least according to Lily Allen.
|by Anonymous||reply 116||11/17/2012|
Of course, we're speaking from an entirely warped baseline.
|by Anonymous||reply 117||11/17/2012|
Zooey was belting showtunes at Marie's Crisis last night.
|by Anonymous||reply 118||11/17/2012|
She had to give up being a vegetarian because, like every other veg, she was malnourished, had no energy and took forever to recover from illness. Just a matter of time for Emily.
Meanwhile, here's an awesome parody of her idiotic Siri commercial.
|by Anonymous||reply 119||11/17/2012|
R119 - She's gained some weight since, and it suits her.
|by Anonymous||reply 120||11/17/2012|
Exactly, that's why suddenly she looks so much better lately and has thicker, fuller hair. Vegan malnutrition is so not sexy. Not sure how Emily lasts. Isn't she older?
|by Anonymous||reply 121||11/17/2012|
She's such a cunt that the last time she wore red lipstick someone shoved a tampon into her mouth.
|by Anonymous||reply 122||11/17/2012|
R122 Who knew that Joan Rivers could figure out how to post here?
|by Anonymous||reply 123||11/17/2012|
R121- Emily is older, but she does not look like she's suffering from malnutrition.
|by Anonymous||reply 124||11/17/2012|
Emily in 2010 (before she became pregnant). She looks healthy.
|by Anonymous||reply 125||11/17/2012|
That's really funny, R119. Thanks for the link.
|by Anonymous||reply 126||11/17/2012|
As a blonde in 2002
|by Anonymous||reply 127||11/17/2012|
Quoi? I can take her so much more seriously with brown hair, and that's saying something.
|by Anonymous||reply 128||11/17/2012|
She looks so much better with dark hair.
|by Anonymous||reply 129||11/17/2012|
Did you not see the movie "Elf," R128? She is in it and has blonde hair. She sings "Baby It's Cold Outside" in an unintentional duet with Will Ferrell.
|by Anonymous||reply 130||11/18/2012|
Emily has been vegan for about 20 years. Seriously. You can be a healthy vegan. Having plenty of money obviously helps.
|by Anonymous||reply 131||11/18/2012|
R130 - Zooey is great in Elf, despite the blond hair.
|by Anonymous||reply 132||11/18/2012|
She looks stunning here.
|by Anonymous||reply 133||11/20/2012|
I want to lick her all over.
|by Anonymous||reply 134||11/20/2012|
JL Curtis and Rob Reiner are playing her parents on New Girl tonight. Wow, she doesn't look like either of them.
|by Anonymous||reply 135||11/20/2012|
R135 - No she doesn't.
|by Anonymous||reply 136||11/20/2012|
|by Anonymous||reply 137||12/29/2012|
They should have cast Debra Winger as the mom. She looks just like her.
|by Anonymous||reply 138||12/29/2012|
I can sort of see that, though Deborah doesn't really have the eyes.
|by Anonymous||reply 139||12/29/2012|
|by Anonymous||reply 140||12/29/2012|
Seriously R140? Must all women have dainty calves?
|by Anonymous||reply 141||12/29/2012|
|by Anonymous||reply 142||12/29/2012|
Well, I think she looks better now than when she was super skinny.
|by Anonymous||reply 143||12/29/2012|
Hm. Maybe Steve Guttenberg for her dad, and Moira Kelly, made up a little older, for her mom.
|by Anonymous||reply 144||12/29/2012|
Linda Gray as the mother, or Susan Sarandon.
|by Anonymous||reply 145||12/29/2012|
Off-topic, that Just Jared link describes Jessica Chastain as 35. Guess it's public now.
I was shocked to find that Zooey is 32. She needs to stop dressing like a little girl.
|by Anonymous||reply 146||12/30/2012|
I actually like most of the things she wears.
|by Anonymous||reply 147||12/30/2012|
I hate hipsterism, but I'd rather see her dress the way she does than wear only the typical stuff that other wealthy women her age wear.
|by Anonymous||reply 148||12/30/2012|
It's simple, whatever her talents are, they sure as heck don't lie in showbiz. I'm the same age as her, but parentage and Hollywood connections aside, what were her High School Career Guidance counselors doing at the time?. Damn if I was either her mother or sister, I would have informed her long ago and not politely either to forget about it. She just doesn't have it. Believe me by 2030, Emily will still be enjoying a good career in Television with some movie sidelines, specialising maybe in family fare, while Zooey will be a has been with several husbands, perhaps a kid or two and watching her sister's daughter go on to have the career trajectory that she should have had!
Becoming a hipster and associated with the hipster crowd was the biggest mistake she ever made. Out of the whole lot, JGL is the only one who has the chops and savvy to still be around in twenty years and NP, doing a Mariska Hargety, will likely be found working on a high end procedural TV show once movie work dries up and sticking just to arty dramas in movies! The hipsters will all be in responsible jobs, raising families and stashing away college funds by then. In other words, her audience will have long outgrown her and with little else to bring to the table, her career will be finished too.
|by Anonymous||reply 149||12/30/2012|
R149 - Zooey has a string of movies that shows otherwise.
|by Anonymous||reply 150||12/30/2012|
|by Anonymous||reply 151||12/30/2012|
She's pretty vocally anti-choice but has had between 5 and 10 abortions herself. I'm not a fan.
|by Anonymous||reply 152||12/30/2012|
R83, there isn't really a correlation between Hipsters and Aspergers. Aspergers and Nerdiness, oh yes, I've got two nephews with the condition and they are geeks. And I may have it, although undiagnosed, despite displaying symptoms of the condition. But Hipsters? Please give me a break. Most Aspergers can't be bothered with the next media hyped in thing! They generally are single minded and focused on certain things and don't really follow the crowd. How do you think Mr Zuckerberg made it to be a billionaire, a classic Asperger's case, if I ever saw one! And it wasn't through hanging out with Williamsburg losers.
No Hipsters are ordinary kids trying to be different but like many fads before end up all looking the bloody same. Luckily in the rural town where I live, it never really took off since most of the local boys would be too embarrassed to even dream of going around looking like that and those that do are likely to end up being beaten up. Hipster girls are known as Drummies, please don't even ask me why. The only thing we'd have in common is the fashions since hipster fashion has become so mainstream, otherwise forget it. Personally I have always founded them to be self absorbed pretentious twats!! In the eighties youth at least had something to fight against, communism and the nuclear arms race for starters. Now, well let's just say, it will be when my sister's kids are teenagers in a few years that a real youth movement will come again. And boy they will have a gigantic smorgasbord of complaints to level at the current generation when they finally get going. They are the ones growing up in the aftermath of the Credit Crunch and boy they are not gonna be too happy at how their parents managed to squander away their own and their descendants future. The 1960s will be nothing but the warm up act for once the Roaring Twenties gets going! Yes the Roaring Twenties are coming back but this time for very different reasons.

NP is Natalie Portman, and JGL is Joseph Gordon Levitt, R155 just to clear things up. Of all the current Hollywood idiots, these two appear to be strategically competent and smart enough to maintain long term careers. Most of the current names will be history by '30 to be replaced by the up and coming generation with Dakota Fanning at the vanguard. Unlike her sister, she seems to have the smarts to be Jodie Foster's successor. Elle is too much of a Fame whore now and if she doesn't watch it will end up the next Lindsay Lohan. Personally I don't view anyone under 20 as Hipsters since I genuinely believe that the current incarnation of the movement is dying out now and the seeds of what will replace them are starting to rise. The upcoming Kids will be smarter, savvier and far more radical than anything we've seen in a long time. Economics and Politics rather than culture and irony are going to be the main items on their agenda and perhaps we may finally see the shoots of real social reform for the first time since the sixties?

I think Emily is more of a stunning beauty than Zooey, but both are very attractive.

R149, yes and she was crap in most of them. There are unknown actresses out there that would have completely acted her off the screen. The only things she's got going is a pretty face and relatively good singing voice, and now she's getting too old for the hipster shctick with no clue as to how to reinvent herself for a more grown up audience. Damn even the daughter of the original Trillian in HGTTG, would have been an improvement, a girl who despite being from an acting family was forced to grow up when she got pregnant in her mid teens! She had the baby and went off working as a jobbing actress. Enough to keep a decent roof over her head and pay the bills. She's now married to David Tennant, the actor. Point being she was forced to really grow up and take responsibility at an age when she should still have been rollercoasting along life as an irresponsible teen, yet we've got these thirty something tools acting like they're sixteen still and they wonder why when the rest of us seemingly fail to get them. We get them alright, but we don't identify with them, therefore we are not interested.
I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with a single thirty-something who is quirky and all that, there isn't except a lot of these guys on tv seem to be suffering from arrested development, acting like frat boys despite being old enough to be the frat boys' fathers.

Zooey was very good to excellent in a number of films starting with Almost Famous, and including Eulogy, Elf, and 500 Days of Summer.

[quote] The hipsters will all be in responsible jobs, raising families and stashing away college funds by then. In other words, her audience will have long outgrown her and with little else to bring to the table, her career will be finished too.
This is, unfortunately, probably not true. Most "Hollywood Hipsters" are VERY well-connected to people with the real money and power. Even the ones who haven't gotten a lot of work yet. The pool is ever-condensing, as well.
As long as they keep kissing ass, there will be someone who will cut them a break. If any of them choose to retire from the industry, most cases will be because they chose to do so. But hardly any of them would actually choose that, let's be real.

Zooey and Emily from 2009
|by Anonymous||reply 161||12/30/2012|
When can we discuss Zooey's wham bam marriage and divorce with the Death Cab for Cutie guy?
Surely someone knows something?
|by Anonymous||reply 162||12/30/2012|
She married him because she had to beard up and he was desperately interested in getting relevant again--their agents "introduced" them and pushed the marriage. ZD was, at the time of the marriage, in love with a female co-star and was about to go public as bisexual before her agent stepped in.

Zooey: "I'm not quirky."
|by Anonymous||reply 164||12/30/2012|
R163 - who was the female co-star?
|by Anonymous||reply 165||12/30/2012|
But she's truly in love with some kind of writer now.
Oh, actresses and their writers and producers. How hip, hawt, and original.
|by Anonymous||reply 166||12/30/2012|
R166 - not original at all, especially given Caleb and Mary Jo.
|by Anonymous||reply 167||12/30/2012|
I was being utterly snarky, R167, but yes, her parents are one of countless examples.
Actresses can consider themselves more artsy, smart, and important in their minds for marrying thusly. Whatever adequately deludes.
|by Anonymous||reply 168||12/30/2012|
It's pretty common to fall for people you work with, or around, whatever the industry.
|by Anonymous||reply 169||12/30/2012|
But hardly any of them make a bigger game out of it than entertainment.
|by Anonymous||reply 170||12/30/2012|
R146 - Why would you be shocked that Zooey is 32? She played a flight attendant in Almost Famous, and that was 12 years ago.

I don't know why we're suddenly discussing Georgia Moffet in a thread about Zooey Deschanel, but that's really not true. She's been financially supported by and lived with her wealthy parents or boyfriends nearly all her life, and has/had live-in nannies with both her children. Her mother even gave up work in order to be the (first) baby's primary caregiver so that "Georgia could have a normal teenage life." She moved straight from her mom's house to a boyfriend's house, who took over joint child-rearing responsibilities, and when they split up he let her keep the house and he kept joint custody. She's very immature. Look at her Facebook, all pics of her partying and smoking pot, flirting with her ex, jabs her husband, posting near-nude pics of her husband on public pages, etc.
Not to mention getting pregnant by David Tennant when they were only dating casually, putting him in a position where he had to marry her, then quitting acting and staying home to splunk all his money on interior design for the mansion he had to buy her while he's away on location eleven months of the year trying to pay for it.
