It's also Canadian Thanksgiving Day. No parades but turkey, big dinner and all the trimmings.
Happy Coming Out!

What we need is a National Outing Day.
|by Anonymous||reply 8||10/11/2010|
I'm a gay American man. I've done it!! Thank you,OP. I'm gay and I'm proud. I will always remember this day.

ACT UP had balls, I'll give them that much.
|by Anonymous||reply 10||10/11/2010|
We came out, but only when it was safe. Sheesh, what do you want from us?
|by Anonymous||reply 11||10/11/2010|
I'm not ready.

I could actually see Miss Lemon coming out.
|by Anonymous||reply 17||10/11/2010|
I expect Zac Efron, Hayden Christensen and Elijah Wood are spending today indoors, again!
|by Anonymous||reply 18||10/11/2010|
It's not a closet, it's a panic room.
|by Anonymous||reply 19||10/11/2010|
It's National Coming Out day, and in case you didn't already know, I'm gay.
I never officially came out. I have always let people figure it out for themselves.
Perhaps having a "deal with it" attitude has worked pretty well for me.
|by Anonymous||reply 20||10/11/2013|
I'm tired of coming out.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||10/11/2013|
I remember when people were chastised mercilessly if they wore blue jeans on coming out day.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||10/11/2013|
I'm proud to say I'm out to everyone; parents, extended family, everyone at work, neighbors and of course friends. This was not always the case, but coming out is a continual process.
Being out is the most important form of gay activism.

R16, Don Lemon came out years ago.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||10/11/2013|
Anyone want to tell Queen Latifah?
|by Anonymous||reply 26||10/11/2013|
Coming Out Day had its origins in a gay rights campaign that stated that anyone wearing blue jeans on October 11 was announcing their homosexuality. It was meant to draw attention to the assertion that you could never really tell who might or might not be gay, but in high schools across the Midwest, it was an opportunity to beat the shit out of kids who were either ignorant(or supportive I suppose) of the campaign.
|by Anonymous||reply 27||10/11/2013|
Absolutely, R23 - it is indeed an evolving process AND the most important. Thanks to those brave gay activists of the past who paved the way for our current situation.
|by Anonymous||reply 28||10/11/2013|
Too late now ... guess I'll have to wait until next year.
|by Anonymous||reply 29||10/11/2013|
R12 Anderson Cooper is already out.
JC Chasez and Justin Timberlake... looking at you.
|by Anonymous||reply 30||10/11/2013|

Oh please. Look at the FBI stats on hate crimes.
It's not the midwest that's the problem.
|by Anonymous||reply 31||10/12/2013|
Hmmm. I am assuming this thread didn't get much attention because OP was preaching to the choir..
|by Anonymous||reply 32||10/12/2013|
I don't know about that r32. DL attracts introverts, and many of them seem to be cowardly closet cases.
|by Anonymous||reply 33||10/12/2013|
"Anderson Cooper is already out."
R30, your sense of humor, or lack thereof, and sarcasm detector are off.
|by Anonymous||reply 34||10/12/2013|
George Stephanopolous is not gay.
|by Anonymous||reply 35||10/12/2013|
Never heard of what R27 is going on about.
|by Anonymous||reply 36||10/12/2013|
[quote] Never heard of what [R27] is going on about.
That's because it isn't true.
