The NFL Season Starts

Are you ready for some football? Or is it IKEA for the next six months for you?

So let's have some Drew Brees butt.

Some Favre mispronunciation of his own name and waffling.

Manning tard faces.

And Brady crashes, both on and off the field.

by Anonymousreply 11709/07/2014

Nice intro, OP. %0D %0D I don't think Jeremy Shockey can even remember where he went to college.%0D %0D And Al Michaels just said "shitgun." Teehee.

by Anonymousreply 109/09/2010

Thanks, nice R1. I heard Michaels say "shitgun" too and thought it was just my bad sense of hearing. He's my favorite football commentator by far though. However, Shockey can remember how much he hates the gays. He's a walking "shitstorm".

by Anonymousreply 209/09/2010

Yeah, I didn't remember myself that Shockey went to Miami, but it stands to reason -- after all, he's such an upstanding citizen. %0D %0D Speaking of homophobes, did you follow Tony Dungy's school-marmish fussing about Rex Ryan's cursing on "Hard Knocks"? He wanted the commissioner to get involved; Goodell's assistant said something like "No, we're not going to address it, Rex's mom has already taken care of that."

by Anonymousreply 309/09/2010

Woe: The Packers are at Philadelphia today.%0D %0D %0D Behave, you mean fans! You can. You want to. If I see anybody saying or doing one disrespectful thing to my team you'll reckon with me.%0D %0D There. That oughtta do it.

by Anonymousreply 409/12/2010

Re: Brady's car accident%0D %0D I was shocked that he was driving his own sedan. For some reason, I picture most millionaire football players riding around in reinforced steel Hummers.

by Anonymousreply 509/12/2010

Why hasn't anyone hired Bill Cowher yet? Is he holding out for the Dallas Cowboys job?

by Anonymousreply 609/12/2010

Bump for the Packers v. Eagles game.

by Anonymousreply 709/12/2010

Even though I hate McNabb, I'm really amused at how the Eagles sucked with Kevin Kolb and are playing really well with Vick.

by Anonymousreply 809/12/2010

The Packers are sure lucky Vick wasn't QBing for the whole game.

by Anonymousreply 909/12/2010

And they're lucky the Eagles called that horrible play to end the game.

by Anonymousreply 1009/12/2010

Bite your tongue, R6! Wade isn't going anywhere.

by Anonymousreply 1109/12/2010

Drew Brees ass.

by Anonymousreply 1209/12/2010

Can anyone explain to me why so many of the quarterbacks are doingthat horsekick thing with their leg? Are they all just trying to copy Manning or is there some actual reason for it?%0D %0D And, that last play in the Bears game was bullshit. I'm a Bears fan and I thought they deserved to lose when they went for two on that last touchdown instead of just kicking the extra point that might have lead to a tie if the Lions happened to score. I wanted the Lions to win after that so they'd fire Lovie Smith and get a real head coach in there.

by Anonymousreply 1309/12/2010

by Anonymousreply 1409/13/2010

"that might have lead to a tie if the Lions happened to score."%0D %0D It's spelled "led."

by Anonymousreply 1509/13/2010

by Anonymousreply 1609/13/2010

R15, you do realize that everyone you've ever met hates you, right?

by Anonymousreply 1709/13/2010

Hello? Weird leg kick explanation, please.

by Anonymousreply 1809/13/2010

I'm sorry but I can't help giggling like a schoolgirl every time I hear "packer."

By the way, Tom Brady looks fucking amazing. He used to be so doughy.

But now he has a real boyish charm about him.

by Anonymousreply 1909/13/2010

Oh, yeah, football. That's really....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

by Anonymousreply 2009/13/2010

Tom's been looking super hot since Gisele had the baby.

by Anonymousreply 2109/14/2010

lol,r19%0D %0D The Packers looked a little shaky in thier win against the Eagles. Now Ryan Grant is out for the season and they've brought in some young'un from the Atlanta Falcons practice squad to replace him.%0D %0D I'm not fretting. If Rodgers has to thrw more so be it, but a good running game would be nice, too.

by Anonymousreply 2209/14/2010

Dom Hixon is injured and will not play this season. Take a look at what we're missing. Such a shame. The best ass in game.

by Anonymousreply 2309/16/2010

Oh Della. How will I help you truly learn the ins and outs of football this year?

1) With Grant out, and an aging receiving core, the chances of your Cheeseheads making it far are slim, despite the fact that Rogers is pretty amazing. They were overhyped to start, and this injury doesn't help. At all.

That is all for now. Wait for more.

by Anonymousreply 2409/16/2010

It's Rodgers.

by Anonymousreply 2509/16/2010

I bow to your superior football knowledge, r24, however, I'm excited about the pick of Dimitri Nance (along with veteran Packer Brandon Jackson) to shore up the Packer's running back positions.%0D %0D The absence of Grant, although, regrettable, is not the death knell of the season.%0D %0D I flatly predict the Green Bay Packers will have a 12 and 4 season.

by Anonymousreply 2609/16/2010

Has anyone seen the Lingerie League football on MTV with female players wearing little but shoulder pads?

Why can't the men show some skin?

by Anonymousreply 2709/16/2010

R27, I wonder how some of these players, like Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Eli Manning and others would look in lingerie? Where's Eddie Murphy and his van when we need it?

by Anonymousreply 2809/16/2010

Dang, the Patriots lost. But Tom Brady looked soooo goooood!

by Anonymousreply 2909/19/2010

Tom Brady needs a haircut. He's not 19 years old, for cryin' out loud.

by Anonymousreply 3009/19/2010

Hey sports, take it to ESPN and NBC. They love your attention there.

by Anonymousreply 3109/19/2010

Suck it Favre lovers! 3 INT, 1 fumble lost for a TD.

Please come tell us how it was the offensive line's fault. Or maybe it was the receivers'? Or was it the head coach's for knowing nothing about offense? We all know it wasn't Grandpa Brett's.

by Anonymousreply 3209/19/2010

Green Bay Packers- 2 and 0

Chicago Bears- 2 and 0

Monday Evening September 27th.

Be there or be square.

Be there or be talked about.

by Anonymousreply 3309/20/2010

Tom Brady looks awesome. I agree.

by Anonymousreply 3409/20/2010

I understand that some of you might not like football, which is fine but wouldn't it be easier to not click on a thread that is clearly titled NFL?

I hate Michael Vick but he's a helluva QB. The Eagles are morons if they don't use him.

My Cowboys need a new coach. Now!

I love Peyton Manning and was so happy to see him kick his brother's ass last night.

by Anonymousreply 3509/20/2010

Yay! Tom Brady and the Patriots won!

The blonde Matt Ryan and his Atlanta Falcons won a nailbiter against Brees/NO. Excellent game.

Favre pulled his bacon out of the fire and got a win for Minnesota.

Why do Eli and the Giants suck so bad this year? Was Plaxico really all that?

by Anonymousreply 3609/26/2010

Adrian Peterson is just a wonder. But Favre looked pretty upset today. He knows they're going to have to do a lot better than this. Good thing the Vikings have a week off.

by Anonymousreply 3709/26/2010

Butterfingers Peterson cost the Vikings the Superbowl... 3 fumbles!!

The man couldn't hold on to the football if his life depended on it.

by Anonymousreply 3809/26/2010

I like Indy's Austin Collie -

by Anonymousreply 3909/26/2010

Vick has fast feet, but he can't throw worth a shit.

We don't miss him at all.

by Anonymousreply 4009/26/2010

Finally the 'Boys win!!!

by Anonymousreply 4109/26/2010

Favre's weak showing thus far is due to the injury of his star receiver Rice and because he once again played with fire by waiting so long to sign. He missed camp and preseason. That is when receivers and quarterbacks get their timing down, which is esp. important with young receivers. He finally is getting burned by his diva antics. I do like Favre though, and think he will get things together before it's too late.

Della, I am rooting for Rodgers. He really is a class act and has the potential to be in the Petyon/Brady/Brees canon by end of this year if he can get the Packers deep into the playoffs.

Agreed with the upthread praiser of AP. The man is the most violent runner since Earl Campbell. And he's as fast as Barry Sanders. Scary. I do predict he will flame out soon, however. And part of why he fumbles so much is because of his violent runs.

Eli tries too hard. The man is so damn accurate with his deep throws, but his costly mistakes in the red zone are infuriating. He'll never be a Peyton, but he should consistently be the in the second tier of quarterbacks, flirting near the first tier. It's all about decisions with him, not his talent.

I think Brady looks ridiculous, but I never was one for feathered locks.

The Boys will be fine. Trust me.

by Anonymousreply 4209/27/2010

by Anonymousreply 4309/27/2010

I have a hellacious crush on Aaron Rogers, however, by far, my favorite Packer is Charles Woodson.

by Anonymousreply 4409/27/2010

Della, Rodgers looks great tonight. And your DLine is fantastic. Woodson is a first ballot hall of famer. Amazing player.

I'm more into Urlacher :) I like 'em big and kinda dumb.

by Anonymousreply 4509/27/2010

17 penalties for the Packers! What a bunch of idiots.

by Anonymousreply 4609/27/2010

Man beast Clay Matthews -

by Anonymousreply 4709/27/2010

Peyton Hillis -

by Anonymousreply 4810/01/2010

Falcons win again.%0D %0D Skins beat Eagles.... Vick gets knocked out of game (sore ribs and chest) and that, my friends, is what happens when you have a quarterback who runs all the time.

by Anonymousreply 4910/03/2010

That Vick hit was unbelievable! And whoever was operating the field camera that day deserves an Oscar. Poetry in slow motion. The only thing missing was an opera score.

by Anonymousreply 5010/04/2010

Official Packers v. Redskins post.

by Anonymousreply 5110/10/2010

The Packers better win, Della. %0D

by Anonymousreply 5210/10/2010

BEAST!%0D %0D Damn, Clay Matthews can play.

by Anonymousreply 5310/10/2010

10%0D %0D 0%0D %0D You said it, r52.

by Anonymousreply 5410/10/2010

16-13, Redskins in OT.

by Anonymousreply 5510/10/2010

Where's your messiah now, Rodgers lovers? Boy Wonder was a joke today and the "coaching" by Mike McCarthy was pathetic. The Packers started out with no running game whatsoever, and now their O line is collapsing.%0D %0D I can't wait until Favre and Moss make them their bitches. Will Ted Thompson even dare to show his pasty face at THAT game?

by Anonymousreply 5610/10/2010

Fucking GB and those worthless motherfucking Cowboys.%0D %0D

by Anonymousreply 5710/10/2010

American football is more popular than ever in the year of the Tea Party. It's truly an American sport, unlike European-socialist soccer. Unlike soccer, American football on TV allows plenty of time for commercials, and nothing is more American than that.

by Anonymousreply 5810/10/2010

Tony Romo's season is spiraling downward. What is going on? I thought he was supposed to play BETTER after dumping Jessica Simpson.

by Anonymousreply 5910/10/2010

He is NOT the one, never has been, never will.%0D %0D %0D Jason Garrett isn't doing him any favors either.%0D %0D

by Anonymousreply 6010/10/2010

Any Dataloungers watching the Vikings/Jets game tonight? I don't have ESPN so please would somebody come back and let me know how the crowd reacted to Brett? TIA!

by Anonymousreply 6110/11/2010

I am and I will,r61.%0D %0D

by Anonymousreply 6210/11/2010

Who Dey!!!

by Anonymousreply 6310/11/2010

by Anonymousreply 6410/11/2010

Favre ended up being a piece of shit, just like I thought he was. If his wife was smart, she would divorce his skirt-chasing ass and go find herself a nice looking young stud.

by Anonymousreply 6510/11/2010

Already, 3 panalties opening drive-Vikings

by Anonymousreply 6610/11/2010

Vikings punt.%0D %0D Jets-3 and out.%0D %0D Commercial

by Anonymousreply 6710/11/2010

Favre sacked. 3 and out. Punt

by Anonymousreply 6810/11/2010

Can we discuss how insanely hot Peyton Hillis is?

by Anonymousreply 6910/11/2010

Sad but true:

"We said, 'Let's just keep playing, he'll throw us one," defensive end Shaun Ellis said later in the dry and jubilant locker room. "We were just waiting for him to show up."

by Anonymousreply 7010/12/2010

Thanks, Della! Was the crowd chanting anything about Favre? Did he get booed last night?

by Anonymousreply 7110/12/2010

Peyton Hillis has one of the best bods this side of the baseball player with the big ass -

by Anonymousreply 7210/12/2010

"the baseball player with the big ass"

Do tell us about him.

by Anonymousreply 7310/13/2010

Yes, more about big ass baseball player.

by Anonymousreply 7410/13/2010

This guy -

by Anonymousreply 7510/13/2010

I know the World Series predominates right now, but Drew Brees' ass is playing right now.

by Anonymousreply 7610/31/2010

How did Brees-ass do this weekend?

by Anonymousreply 7711/21/2010

Stewart Bradley anyone?

by Anonymousreply 7811/22/2010

Up for the Thanksgiving day games.

by Anonymousreply 7911/25/2010

A little bit of the Brees Ass for added measure. I hope the link works.

by Anonymousreply 8011/25/2010

Up for football.

by Anonymousreply 8111/25/2010

I love Marion Barber and his crazy hair flowing out the back of his helmet and his pretty little high leg kicks. %0D %0D I'm praying for his calf. Hope y'all will, too.

by Anonymousreply 8211/25/2010

On a college football note...%0D %0D #2 Auburn is getting their fucking ass whipped by #11 Alabama.%0D %0D Score is 24 to nothing, 2nd quarter.%0D %0D Wonder if this butt kicking will cost Cam Newton the Heisman?

by Anonymousreply 8311/26/2010

I think $180K in graft from a booster is what's going to cost Cam the Heisman.

by Anonymousreply 8411/26/2010

Up for Wild Card day. Della, are you here?

by Anonymousreply 8501/08/2011

by Anonymousreply 8601/08/2011

The dog's just got their revenge on Vick.

by Anonymousreply 8701/09/2011

DAMMIT! Sorry to see pass intended for DL fave Riley Cooper intercepted.

by Anonymousreply 8801/09/2011

Al Davis is The Cryptkeeper -

by Anonymousreply 8901/19/2011

Up for the 2011 regular season. Eagles vs. Steelers. Maul them!

by Anonymousreply 9008/18/2011

Shock me Jeremy.

by Anonymousreply 9109/11/2011

This is exactly what I mean by DL's violent misogyny, and if you don't intervene against it, you are acting in favor of it:

"Ann Coulter is responsible for that horrible stench that emanates from her dried up gash wherever she goes."

Your violence against women helps kill queer teens.

Ann Coulter's stupidity has nothing to do with her body parts.

Stop the violence.

Stop the hate.

It's killing us.

by Anonymousreply 9209/11/2011

Go Carolina Panthers

by Anonymousreply 9308/26/2012

Panthers won!

by Anonymousreply 9408/27/2012

Oh wow. The end of the Seattle/Green Bay game tonight is unreal. These replacement refs are making the game wilder than ever.

by Anonymousreply 9509/24/2012

Insane game tonight, with some of the most tentative officiating ever.

by Anonymousreply 9609/24/2012

Feels great to have football back on tv.

by Anonymousreply 9709/08/2013

Cowboys looking strong tonight

by Anonymousreply 9809/08/2013

Tony Romo really feeling good tonight.

by Anonymousreply 9909/08/2013

Really, OP?

Couldn't you start a new thread instead of reviving a 3 YEAR-old thread??

Go Cowboys! Good start to the season!

Fuck you, 'tard-face Manning.

by Anonymousreply 10009/08/2013

Saints win.

by Anonymousreply 10109/09/2013

r100, you have some issues, dude.

by Anonymousreply 10209/09/2013

The refs really screwed the Packers with that "3rd down" thing. Matthews was on fire!

by Anonymousreply 10309/09/2013

No, not really, R102.

Just pissed that the Cowboys had been incapable of winning in their own fucking stadium against those asshole Giants.

It didn't matter, R103. The Packers still won.

by Anonymousreply 10409/09/2013

Russell Wilson is a beast. I love to watch him play. Poor Cam Newton.

by Anonymousreply 10509/09/2013

"It didn't matter, [R103]. The Packers still won."

Um... No, they didn't.

by Anonymousreply 10609/09/2013

Eh, my bad.

Now that I remember, I did tune out at the end. Didn't want to see that thug win.

by Anonymousreply 10709/09/2013

Time for Redskins and RGIII!

by Anonymousreply 10809/09/2013

Great football today. This Seattle v San Francisco game is official!

by Anonymousreply 10909/15/2013

I hate being a Browns fan.

by Anonymousreply 11009/19/2013

Chip Kelly has brought excitement to the Eagles, but he had better beg his bosses for a FA QB. No way Michael Vick runs that many more plays, takes that many more licks, and stays healthy through the entire season. Their backup is a huge dropoff in talent.

And damn, but how the fuck did the Packers ever let Jennings get away? Sure, he wanted a bigger payday and ego massaging--but he and Rodgers were as special as Rodgers and Nelson. Loved seeing Rodgers using all those different weapons, as Drew Brees does in NO. They're missing a certain spark since Jennings left, IMO.

by Anonymousreply 11109/19/2013

Is there a Thursday night game today?

by Anonymousreply 11209/19/2013

Kaepernick is killing the Rams tonight

by Anonymousreply 11309/26/2013

New preseason begins next week.

by Anonymousreply 11408/01/2014

So glad to have football back on tv. exciting

by Anonymousreply 11508/16/2014

The Seattle Seahawks may have had a clear 36-16 win over the Green Bay Packers last night in the NFL Kickoff game, but for NBC the ratings results ended up being good, though slightly mixed. With the final numbers now in, the network’s first game of the 2014 season drew a 10.2/32 rating among adults 18-49 for its 8:42 PM – 11:30 PM duration. That’s down a sliver from the 10.3/31 that last year’s 9:15 PM-12:30 AM ET kickoff match-up between the Denver Broncos and 2013 Super Bowl champs the Baltimore Ravens got. The tiny decline from last year among the key demo makes last night’s game the fourth best kickoff since the opening match-up was launched in 2002. The Broncos vs. Ravens’ battle remains in the third place spot by a hair. Having said that, viewershipwise, the Seahawks vs. Packers game was up 7% from last year’s Thursday kickoff with an audience of 26.9 million. Not only is that the third best kickoff game in terms of total viewers, but it is also the most watched single broadcast on TV since the March 2 Oscars telecast, which was seen by a stellar 43.7 million. That said, don’t be surprised if the Sunday Night Football game between Denver and the Indianapolis Colts swings at last night’s number. In terms of network NFL on Thursdays, there won’t be more on NBC this season but CBS starts its 8-game run on September 11 – and they must like the sound of last night’s numbers.

by Anonymousreply 11609/06/2014

Is Cam Newton gonna play today?
