Have a blessed day!

Were you speaking from someone in Nashville when you heard this salutation?
|by Anonymous||reply 1||06/17/2010|
Thank you, Father.
|by Anonymous||reply 2||06/17/2010|
I bet it's a FB status, right? I see that a million times a day. Makes me cringe.
|by Anonymous||reply 3||06/17/2010|
Just . . . in general. It's everywhere.
A sales clerk asked me how I was and I said "fine, and yourself?" She replied "the Lord is good and his mercy is everlasting. Glory to him."
WHAT. THE FUCK. is THAT SHIT?
It's on Facebook. It's on people's outgoing voicemails. It's every fucking place.

Would such people be OK if you replied, "Allah is good?"
If not, you're right: fuck 'em. Their religion is not mine.
OTOH, we vilify religious people on here all the time, yet my experience with ones I know is that they're not remotely like this.

There are advantages to being a slightly deaf hermit.

Have a blessed fucking day, OP!

Agree with r6. I've met many atheists who are just as hateful as any fundie.
|by Anonymous||reply 9||06/17/2010|
I just reply with, "May the force be with you too!"
|by Anonymous||reply 10||06/17/2010|
Anyone who objects is a sad, bitter person. What insanity or evil spirit would make someone object to a blessing?
|by Anonymous||reply 11||06/17/2010|
It's akin to someone saying "I'm praying for you." And praise be to Mother Goose, dick.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||06/17/2010|
r11, most gay atheists are bitter about their lot in life and probably are infected. They take it out on those who love them no matter their lot in life.
|by Anonymous||reply 13||06/17/2010|
Were things too pleasant around here for you R9/13? Is that why you decided to start flinging poo?
|by Anonymous||reply 14||06/17/2010|
I can live with have a blessed day....it's the sentiment that counts, but when they go on about the greatness of god and everlasting whatever...Please keep you delusions to yourself.
|by Anonymous||reply 15||06/17/2010|

Be that as it may R9 at least atheists don't base their entire existence on a thousand year old myth and a god who doesn't exist.

When they pull that stuff, is it okay if I invoke the name of Cthulu?
|by Anonymous||reply 17||06/17/2010|
Sorry, but whenever I see the "blessed day" discussions, I'm glad I don't live wherever some of you come from. I never come across any of these religious types, except for the occasional Jehovah's Witness handing out The Watchtower down in the subway.

I'm in DC, R18. Call any random government agency 10 times and I can guarantee that you'll hear it as the outgoing message on at least one of the voicemail boxes.
|by Anonymous||reply 19||06/17/2010|
R15 here R19. I'm an NY native. It doesn't happen that much here at all, but it does happen. When I visit Florida on the other hand....daily!
The Jehovah Witness haven't hit my neighborhood in years. Praise the Lord!
Oh but there are the preaching women on the IRT, usually during morning rush, ranting and a raving...SHUT UP!

How about "may the Farce be with you?"
|by Anonymous||reply 21||06/17/2010|
I really don't encounter it that much. Certainly sometimes, but not that often.
And, I live in the Midwest.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||06/17/2010|
I hate it worse when I southern woman (usually older) follows up with "sug" (like sugar, minus the ar).
|by Anonymous||reply 23||06/17/2010|
Praise to Xenu!
