I remember reading here that Chely Wright was gay, and this was YEARS ago. Someone here must know something!
Country music insiders, where are you?

Country Music is for White American Republicans only.
One token non-American (Keith Urban)
One token non-White (Cowboy Troy)
See Link: Brady Paisleys "This is Country Music"
(which is terrifyingly similar in look to the Nazi Flag waving propaganda films of the 1930s)

Country has moved to the extreme right ever since Obama got elected in 2008. Call it backlash music now. There used to be a time of John Denvers and Shania Twains. No more. John Denver is a radical un-American socialist and Shania Twain is a foreigner.
Welcome to todays world of Country Music. Ironic, because both had some of the best tunes ever written in Country, which have be covered by many others since then.
|by Anonymous||reply 3||04/16/2013|
I have always loathed CUNTry music. It's so banal and stupid. Now it has be something even worse... bubblegum.
|by Anonymous||reply 4||04/16/2013|
Shania Twain is NOT a foreigner.
|by Anonymous||reply 5||04/16/2013|
Country has entered a phase where new artists are signed based on their assumed market appeal, not on the quality of their music.
Witness Blake Shelton, Taylor Swift and Hunter Hayes.
|by Anonymous||reply 6||04/16/2013|
Shania Twain most definitely is a foreigner. She is one of those Maple Syrup eating socialists.

Maybe in the 167 results from a FIND THREAD search at the top of the Threadlist?
There have been at least two quite recently, the one below is most recent:

Someone who is North American is considered a foreigner?
|by Anonymous||reply 9||04/16/2013|
Are you on drugs R9?
Canadians are definitely foreigners. Most Americans know more about Mexico than Canada.
|by Anonymous||reply 10||04/16/2013|
[quote] Canadians are definitely foreigners.
But it is in North America.
|by Anonymous||reply 11||04/16/2013|
Country Music is American music. Not Canadian music.
Canada's music is Folk music.
Germany's is Electronic
England's is Rock
Jamaica's is Reggae
Brazil's is Samba
Austria's is Waltz
Scotland's is Bagpipe
Asia doesn't really have anything that qualifies as music, but the Door Chimes sound is close.

R12 you do realize that Canada has country music
|by Anonymous||reply 13||04/16/2013|
It barely exists R13. But American Country singers do perform in Canada frequently, more so in Conservative Party ridings and Alberta.
Canada's one and only #1 selling male Country Singer was Hank Snow. from the 1950s and he became an American citizen.
There are a number of government funded Canadian Country singers who have sold around 30-50,000 records. Let us not call that an "industry". There are more Country Music radio stations broadcasting in the state of Kansas, than all of Canada.
99% Of Country Music sales are American performers today. Country Music is easily the most nationalized genre of music that gets a Grammy award category. Even more so than RAP music.

I love how R12 just bunched up all the countries in Asia as:

Chely's still gay. And talks about it now ad nauseum.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||04/16/2013|
Shania left country music(and the spotlight), not the other way around.
|by Anonymous||reply 17||04/16/2013|
Plenty of democrats in country music R2. The OP asked for gossip.
|by Anonymous||reply 18||04/16/2013|
Almost all the performers in country are lefties now.
|by Anonymous||reply 19||04/16/2013|
Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are huge lefties.
|by Anonymous||reply 20||04/16/2013|
The younger stars are much more gay friendly, like newcomer Kacey Musgraves.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||04/16/2013|
A couple of token Democrats, does not make Country Music even close to progressive. 99% still rapid, anti-gay Republicans. Country Music radio is still controlled by them too.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||04/17/2013|
Cowboy Troy is not the only Black in country music. DeFord Bailey was one of the very first artists on the Grand Ole Opry. Charley Pride was a big country star back in the 60s and 70s; and today we have Darius Rucker, formerly of Hootie and the Blowfish.

Canada is in America, North America.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||04/17/2013|
Shania Twain has sold more albums in country music than any other female country artist.
Now how can you say Country music in Canada doesn't exists?
|by Anonymous||reply 26||04/17/2013|
Shania Twain would not be allowed to exist in the Republican controlled world of Country Music today.
She was allowed into the scene during the Clinton administration in the 90s AND under heavy protest by many at the time. Do not think she was well loved by the CMA crowd. Her insanely high sales are the only reason they allowed her to be around.
You would think the Obama administration would be the same, but Country Music has become even more isolated. (I think it is a racist thing).
|by Anonymous||reply 27||04/17/2013|
utter bullshit, r27
|by Anonymous||reply 28||04/17/2013|
They're all in Nashville, TN where they've always been. Good place for them. I hope they stay there. Keep the contagion contained.
|by Anonymous||reply 29||04/17/2013|
Country Music is quite happy to have shut out non-Republicans and non-Americans. Don't assume, the Country Music fans, think this is a bad thing. They are proud of it.
The record companies don't care who buys their records, as long as they are being sold. A lot of Country albums are sold in the USA.
|by Anonymous||reply 30||04/17/2013|
[quote] Country Music is quite happy to have shut out non-Republicans and non-Americans.
Then how do you explain Shania Twain having the most Country Album sales in history?
|by Anonymous||reply 31||04/17/2013|
[quote] Do not think she was well loved by the CMA crowd.
Shania is one of only six women to win CMA Entertainer of the Year. And the first non-American to win that award.
That award was voted on by the membership of the Country Music Association.
How do you explain Americans voting for a non-American to win the award?
|by Anonymous||reply 32||04/17/2013|
Accent history R31. Things have changed for the worse since then.
|by Anonymous||reply 33||04/17/2013|
The OP asked for gossip!
|by Anonymous||reply 34||04/17/2013|
In addition Teri Clark became the first Canadian (and currently the only Canadian) to be a member of the Grand Ole Opry.
Australian Keith Urban was recently added as a member of the Grand Ole Opry as well.
|by Anonymous||reply 35||04/17/2013|
R33 no one in Country Music has broken her record sales, not even Taylor Swift.
Shania's record sales in Country Music still stand to this day, as the best selling female artist in country music history.
|by Anonymous||reply 36||04/17/2013|
WOW, R35 2 Foreigners in Country Music. Radical progress!.
What does this make it now, 99.999993% American?
|by Anonymous||reply 37||04/17/2013|
R37 I can name more.
|by Anonymous||reply 38||04/17/2013|
Any info on Marty Stuart? He's a flamboyant dresser and is married to Connie Smith who is older. Is she a beard? What do you think of his looks?

Isn't that Accent History 101 or a more advanced course?
