Donny Osmond on gay marriage and all his gay friends.

Surprise, surprise, he supported Prop 8.

by Anonymousreply 102December 18, 2008 9:24 PM

"There are many gay individuals that are members of our church. I know many of them. In fact, some of my best friends are gay. You ask how I react regarding their marriages. Well, I do support our Church leaders who say that we can accept those with gay tendencies in our church as long as they do not act upon their temptations. Everyone has tenancies to succumb to temptation, but we all have the same standard given to us by our Father in Heaven. Whether we may be tempted to be immoral with members of our own sex or of the opposite sex, we are expected to live chaste lives. This is very well explained not only in the Book of Mormon, but in the Bible as well.

"You see, the whole beauty of God's plan is that we all have our free agency to live our lives the way we want to live them. Personally, I believe in the words stated above and that they came from a living prophet, so I abide by them.

"We all determine for ourselves what is right and what is not right for our own lives and how we live God's commandments. I am not a judge and I will never judge anyone for the decisions they make unless they are causing harm to another individual. I love my friends, including my gay friends. We are all God's children. It is their choice, not mine on how they conduct their lives and choose to live the commandments according to the dictates of their own conscience. I hope this helps.

Sincerely, Donny Osmond."

Freak.

by Anonymousreply 2December 1, 2008 9:09 PM

I used to think Donny Osmond was cute and aging well...but not so much anymore.

by Anonymousreply 3December 1, 2008 9:09 PM

Rot in hell, Donny

by Anonymousreply 4December 1, 2008 9:11 PM

Suck my dick, you freak.

So "gay" is a temptation? Well, you Osmond pig, sucking your dick is one temptation I could gladly pass by.

What an asshole.

by Anonymousreply 5December 1, 2008 9:15 PM

i always thought jimmy was gay.

by Anonymousreply 6December 1, 2008 9:18 PM

What a fucking lunatic twist on "Some of my best friends are gay." Eat shit you ignorant moron.

And Donny, none of your so-called gay friends are still in your sick, cult church. They would have long since been excommunicated with that evil, demon, disgusting smile and a handshake as they kick you in the nuts as they tell you to get the hell out.

by Anonymousreply 7December 1, 2008 9:19 PM

Imagine being one of his best friends, GAY best friends. I think I will just keep my enemies.

by Anonymousreply 8December 1, 2008 9:19 PM

"In fact, some of my best friends are gay."

Gee, I'll bet he even takes some of them to lunch.

Don't straight people understand how insulting that line is? I guess not since it's said so often.

Lame.

by Anonymousreply 9December 1, 2008 9:22 PM

Does this really surprise anyone?

by Anonymousreply 10December 1, 2008 9:27 PM

Can he be any more DEAD to me?

by Anonymousreply 11December 1, 2008 9:27 PM

no, r10, which is why i said "surprise, surprise" in the OP.

but it's the first official statement i've seen from him, or any of America's Mormon Ambassadors from Provo.

by Anonymousreply 12December 1, 2008 9:30 PM

Why does he think we care?

by Anonymousreply 13December 1, 2008 9:30 PM

What kind of self-loathing freak would be friends with this asshole? I assume all these 'gay friends' that they are all celibate, given that acting on their 'tendencies' would result in a one way ticket to hell.

"Some of my best friends are gay" is the new catchphrase of the homophobes, in the same way as "some of my best friends are black" is the catchphrase of racists.

by Anonymousreply 14December 1, 2008 9:32 PM

But the word on the street is about the bird

Well everybody's heard about the bird ! Bird bird bird, the bird is the word !

Everybody's heard about the bird ! Bird bird bird, the bird is the word !

by Anonymousreply 15December 1, 2008 9:35 PM

I am pretty confident that any gay friends Donny has are not, in fact, celibate.

The sheer number of siblings he has who have procreated in vast numbers makes me wonder which of his many nephews and neices might be gay, and whether he knows they are...

by Anonymousreply 16December 1, 2008 9:36 PM

I wonder if Marie has the same view.

by Anonymousreply 17December 1, 2008 9:36 PM

Someone on this forum thinks Marie's own daughter is gay.

by Anonymousreply 18December 1, 2008 9:39 PM

He's Morman.

I really think that response is the best we can expect from someone of his faith.

And frankly, I'd take that answer over some of the other hillbilly Deliverance trash who would happily fire bomb our houses.

by Anonymousreply 19December 1, 2008 9:41 PM

Uh, that's Mormon not Morman (unless you have some inside dish).

R19

by Anonymousreply 20December 1, 2008 9:42 PM

Fuck him.

by Anonymousreply 21December 1, 2008 9:45 PM

Actually, r19, I think we CAN expect better. Take Steve Young's wife Barb for example. She's "of the Mormon faith" yet was against Prop 8.

by Anonymousreply 22December 1, 2008 9:50 PM

All he is saying is that acting on your homosexuality is a sin.

No different than the rest of the Christofacist bigots and not a surprise.

by Anonymousreply 23December 1, 2008 9:54 PM

Yes, I do, r17

by Anonymousreply 24December 1, 2008 9:57 PM

I never paid much attention to him before, but yes - fuck him. He is a freak with such twisted logic. I hope his gay friends tell him to fuck off too.

by Anonymousreply 25December 1, 2008 10:03 PM

We should expect better r19. Just because Donnie has better teeth, is more articulate, and less violent makes him even more dangerous to our rights than those rednecks you speak of.

by Anonymousreply 26December 1, 2008 10:04 PM

This pisses me off. I know many religious people who "accept" me as long as I'm celibate and not in a same-sex relationship. I'm celibate (not out of religious guilt but for personal reasons I won't go into). I'm "accepted" by these people and invited to come to their churches because I'm a "good" person.

They think I've "conquered" my desires. I haven't; I'm still gay. I've told them this several times. I've also told them that I'll hopefully find a wonderful woman to share my life with and asked if I'll still be welcome then. This question is always met with silence or their insistence that I can fight my "demons" and find a nice guy to settle down with. I always counter this will never happen.

These people are merely acquaintances. They're not friends, and they never will be. I'm not religious, but that doesn't stop them from trying to convert me. As long as I don't act on my desires these people think I"m swell. As soon as I act, they'll be the first to point fingers at me. They're like Donny Osmond.

by Anonymousreply 27December 1, 2008 10:08 PM

The first thing any anti-gay bigot does is claim to have many Gays friends. This is exactly what Anne Coutler AND Mel Gibson did.

But we never see these "gay friends", they are imaginary.

What terrible human beings Donny and Marie Osmond are. 50 years ago, they would be fighting for racial segregation.

by Anonymousreply 28December 1, 2008 10:10 PM

I'm going to burn all my Donny Osmond CDs and delete all my MP3s!!!

Oh, wait . . . .

by Anonymousreply 29December 1, 2008 10:11 PM

Mormons "accept" gay people as long as they don't act on it. Of course, they're encouraged to resist "temptation" and find a nice person of the opposite sex to have a family with. It's sick.

by Anonymousreply 30December 1, 2008 10:13 PM

If the Gay community is looking for a high profile Mormon to make an example of. This is the guy.

Start following him around the country, like Soulforce does, with the Evil Dr. James Dobson.

"Don't Fund Hate",,, signs at every Osmond event.

by Anonymousreply 31December 1, 2008 10:15 PM

So glad the real a.lesbian is back!

by Anonymousreply 32December 1, 2008 10:16 PM

I would hope that if one of his 5 sons was/is gay and came out to him, he'd realize he's wrong. Would he expect his child to live without love?

by Anonymousreply 33December 1, 2008 10:26 PM

"Mormons "accept" gay people as long as they don't act on it. Of course, they're encouraged to resist "temptation" and find a nice person of the opposite sex to have a family with. It's sick."

How does it work for the gay who plays along, R30? Is a little bit of discrete homosex on the side quietly tolerated as long as he gets married?

by Anonymousreply 34December 1, 2008 10:31 PM

[quote]What a fucking lunatic twist on "Some of my best friends are gay." Eat shit you ignorant moron.

I'm sorry, but you spelled that wrong... it's ignorant [italic]mormon[/italic]. You forgot the 'm'.

by Anonymousreply 35December 1, 2008 10:35 PM

Cretin. In their own way they're the Scientologists of the 19th century.

by Anonymousreply 36December 1, 2008 10:43 PM

Yes, and Rock and Roll is the "devil's" music.

Just a little bit.

by Anonymousreply 37December 1, 2008 10:52 PM

No, r34. Dalliances are not quietly tolerated. Gays are expected to either be celibate or get married (obviously to someone of the opposite sex) and spawn. That's it. Married, gay Mormon men of course troll Craig's List for the homosex when they're on business trips. Married, lesbian Mormons are just screwed and not in a good way. As a rule, Mormon women stay home and care for the home and kids while the hubby works.

by Anonymousreply 38December 1, 2008 11:01 PM

The wording in his statement is so condescending, not to mention insulting.

by Anonymousreply 39December 1, 2008 11:02 PM

I say boycott everything involving any of the Osmonds. If they are on TV ,turn them off, especially if they are hosting any shows like ET or Access Hollywood.Dont go to their shows and boycott the casinos and arenas they play in. Heckle their fans and most especially OUT Donny Osmond. It is well known out there that he is on the downlow.Lets go National Enquirer on his ass and Marie too.Next time she is on QVC we should all place orders then cancel them.

by Anonymousreply 40December 1, 2008 11:04 PM

Honestly, I'd rather face the unadulterated (heh) hatred of the Fred Phelps bunch than this kind of passive-aggressive, patronizing bullshit.

by Anonymousreply 41December 1, 2008 11:09 PM

I wonder if Marie has the same view."

She said she supported Romney for president on Larry King, so she's no liberal. I think it can be safely assumed she agrees with her brother.

by Anonymousreply 42December 1, 2008 11:10 PM

Marie is going to have to do something better than faint on stage to smooth this over.

by Anonymousreply 43December 1, 2008 11:15 PM

One of these days I'm going to pull up the photos I have of Donny Osmond having sex. He's a top and a bottom in the photos. Actually it's just sort of Donny Osmond times two. My nieces each had Donny and Marie dolls. While they were at school, I undressed the Donny dolls and photographed them having a naked romp.

by Anonymousreply 44December 1, 2008 11:16 PM

Quelle surprise. When DWTS was big I told several posters the Osmonds are not our friends. Some of them wouldn't listen. Now are you convinced? Being in showbiz doesn't automatically make someone gay friendly.

by Anonymousreply 45December 1, 2008 11:23 PM

You're delusional, r44.

But Donny is still an ass.

by Anonymousreply 46December 1, 2008 11:31 PM

Donny better have been a virgin when he got married

by Anonymousreply 47December 1, 2008 11:49 PM

The Osmonds are the new Mel Gibson.

by Anonymousreply 48December 2, 2008 12:21 AM

Steve Young and his wife opposed Prop 8.

See Hendrik Hertzberg's Talk of the Town piece in last week's New Yorker:

"A couple of days before the California vote, the San Francisco Chronicles John Wildermuth noticed a No on Prop 8 sign on a front lawn. The lawn and the sign belonged to Steve Young, the football Hall of Famer and former 49er quarterback, and his wife, Barb. Steve Young is a graduate of Brigham Young University, which is named for his great great great grandfather. The Youngs still belong to the Mormon Church. We believe all families matter and we do not believe in discrimination, Barb Young said. Therefore, our family will vote against Prop 8. It wasnt enough this time. But the time is coming."

Why is r19 such an apologist?

by Anonymousreply 51December 2, 2008 12:45 AM

"The first thing any anti-gay bigot does is claim to have many Gays friends. This is exactly what Anne Coutler AND Mel Gibson did.

...Actually Ann Coulter's gay friend is not imaginary.

Her best friend if Matt Drudge.

by Anonymousreply 52December 2, 2008 12:55 AM

So much for tomorrow being a perfect day.

by Anonymousreply 53December 2, 2008 1:34 AM

I love Barb Young!!!

by Anonymousreply 54December 2, 2008 1:42 AM

What a total asshole. Religion truly rots the brains of all, especially retarded ones like Donny Osmond's.

If they show that stupid Osmond concert on PBS during pledge drives, gays should all call in and complain till they yank it off. And not in the good way!

by Anonymousreply 55December 2, 2008 3:44 AM

I am so fucking tired of people like him claiming that they 'don't judge' others. What a load of HORSE SHIT. It's inherently judgemental and superior and the claim that it's not is disingenuous.

How can you 'love all your gay friends'?

Fuck him, and the rest of the Mormons and Christian fundamentalists like them.

FUCK THEM

by Anonymousreply 56December 2, 2008 5:52 AM

by Anonymousreply 57December 2, 2008 5:54 AM

Why are Mormons and other religious types against women marring, having relationships or sex together? There is NOT ONE passage in their precious bibles that condemns female bisexuality or homosexuality. So what gives?

by Anonymousreply 58December 2, 2008 5:59 AM

What do Obama and Hillary have to say about the right of gay people to marry and call it marriage and enjoy full equal rights? Is "fuck off and die" and "rot in hell" our message to them too? Or do we expect less of our leaders than we do of our washed-up old pop stars?

by Anonymousreply 59December 2, 2008 6:27 AM

since they are ALL FOR giving us THE SAME EXACT financial and legal rights, we say, "okay go for it."

by Anonymousreply 60December 2, 2008 12:00 PM

Obama and Hillary didn't donate $20 million to take rights away. Mormons like the Osmond did.

by Anonymousreply 61December 2, 2008 4:23 PM

R7, there are log cabin Republicans and religious gays of all denominations, so why would you not believe that there are openly gay Mormons?

by Anonymousreply 62December 2, 2008 4:28 PM

my point in posting this was not that it was a surprise. it was because he finally addressed the issue publically, and i like to give exposure to the hypocritical supporters of Prop 8 who work in show business with and alongside a larger than average population of out gay people.

"some of my closest friends are gay" is a crock of crap. you don't vote against your friends' civil rights if you have an OUNCE of decency in your soul.

sorry mormon-apologists. i have ZERO tolerance.

by Anonymousreply 63December 2, 2008 4:36 PM

Because r61, if you are an openly gay Mormon, they excommunicate you instantly. They are just lying about acceptance.

by Anonymousreply 64December 2, 2008 4:36 PM

oh, and, "lefty liberal" is a maroon.

by Anonymousreply 65December 2, 2008 4:39 PM

If his attitudes about gay people are ok because his church supports him, then what about the Aryan Nations Church?

by Anonymousreply 66December 2, 2008 4:40 PM

[quote]Donny better have been a virgin when he got married

He was.

And he's never had a blow job. Ever. Even from his wife.

by Anonymousreply 67December 2, 2008 4:42 PM

Yeah. I am kinda surprised he went public with it.

by Anonymousreply 68December 2, 2008 4:42 PM

Well, I guess the Osmonds will show us who the bigots are in Showbiz.

Whom ever hires them now, has clearly stood up to be counted with Hate.

by Anonymousreply 69December 2, 2008 4:48 PM

r19. Explain yourself.

by Anonymousreply 70December 2, 2008 7:40 PM

Call me a maroon if it pleases you, but the Democrats have done no more than pay lip service to the issue of gay rights while throwing us under the bus every time the opportunity arises to make real change. Donny Osmond didn't sign DADT and DOMA into law. Bill Clinton did. I'll gladly eat my words if Obama does better by us.

PS The Mormon victory in CA reinforced the definition of marriage precisely as Obama chose to define it in the debates.

by Anonymousreply 71December 2, 2008 8:36 PM

Yeah fuck him because he doesn't agree with me.

by Anonymousreply 72December 2, 2008 8:43 PM

Yeah yeah yeah, Donny. But what about puppy love?

by Anonymousreply 73December 2, 2008 8:45 PM

r72, fuck him because he wants to take away our rights. And fuck you.

by Anonymousreply 74December 2, 2008 8:46 PM

here's to you gorging on a full meal of your own words, r71.

have you even looked at the Obama-Biden GLBT proposals?

the election cycle lip-service to the evangelicals is disappointing, but smart politics, sadly.

if his actions (which, sure, remain to be seen) come even halfway close to the words spelled out on his transition website re: gay rights, he will have forwarded the progress of our civil rights as much as johnson and kennedy did for American blacks in the sixties.

p.s. r72, it's your turn to be identified as a maroon.

by Anonymousreply 75December 2, 2008 8:49 PM

He's a Mormon and that alone makes him full of shit. As if anybody with half a brain and not of his "faith" would listen to this zealot. Washed up is right. And what is the deal he and his insipid sister have with Entertainment Tonight? They seem to be semi-regulars there.

by Anonymousreply 76December 2, 2008 9:12 PM

If you don't hate Jews, leave the Nazi Party. It is that simple. If you stay.... well........

by Anonymousreply 77December 3, 2008 4:04 PM

So which TV networks are going to side with the Mormons?

by Anonymousreply 78December 3, 2008 4:10 PM

So he and his family can fuck like bunnies and produce a hundred Osmonds running around, but you can't fuck at all. M'kay.

by Anonymousreply 79December 3, 2008 7:25 PM

I would bet my entire life's fortune that there are more than a few gay Osmond grandsons (and grand-daughters). What a lovely thing to grow up in a conditionally-loving Mormon or Catholic family.

by Anonymousreply 80December 3, 2008 8:38 PM

[italic]In fact, some of my best friends are gay. You ask how I react regarding their marriages. Well, I do support our Church leaders who say that we can accept those with gay tendencies in our church as long as they do not act upon their temptations.[/italic]

Why is it people automatically assume the word "gay" equates to sex acts? Why do they write people off as a sex act instead of an identity?

What's it his business if someone drops their pants in their own home? Is he saying they shouldn't succumb to temptation in church, because since nobody clearly HAS had sex in his church in front of him, what is his argument about? "Gay" is an identity not a sex act.

If I talked about straights in terms of sex acts instead of flesh and blood people with individual identities and consistently told them not to act on temptation and bone over the photocopier, people would soon think I was a freak, and a nosey, fetish freak at that.

Not that I believe Donny Osmond is anything less that a closet hugger himself. Allegedly has a thing for blonde boys.

by Anonymousreply 81December 3, 2008 8:45 PM

and they called it... puppy hate...

by Anonymousreply 82December 3, 2008 8:47 PM

"Allegedly has a thing for blonde boys"

MORE DETAILS, please!!! Where did you hear this?

by Anonymousreply 83December 3, 2008 8:48 PM

[italic] Well, I do support our Church leaders who say that we can accept those with gay tendencies in our church as long as they do not act upon their temptations.[/italic]

I'd like to know why he obviously views any straight sex act, including bigotry, underage sex with girls and straight orgies/wife-swapping, plus sex just to trap partners and have babies and stay home forever - perhaps even rape - as acceptable, but two consensual same-sex partners who may have been together for years cannot have sex in their own home because that's "temptation".

by Anonymousreply 84December 3, 2008 8:50 PM

[italic]"You see, the whole beauty of God's plan is that we all have our free agency to live our lives the way we want to live them. Personally, I believe in the words stated above and that they came from a living prophet, so I abide by them.[/italic]

Okay, Donny, it's your choice. But here's mine. And since all men are (supposedly) created equal then mine is as good as yours (and my opinion too):

I don't believe in "God's plan" and prophets and bibles. I believe in hard facts like the Earth being 4.5 billion years old and events based on natural selection according to environment. I don't believe in loaves and fishes and walking on water. I don't believe in a book that wants to dumb people down and rein them in with prejudice and misgivings and ludicrous assumption, all because there was no TV 2 thousand years ago and bored/frustrated/high as kites people wrote shit to frighten themself to death and create tribal boundaries and lasting conflicts for whatever reason, using mighty invisible deities as a cover story.

But then, that's the beauty of freedom of belief. You have yours, I have mine.

But you're still a ginormous dick.

by Anonymousreply 85December 3, 2008 8:59 PM

>> he's never had a blow job. Ever. Even from his wife. -- The Howard Stern Interview

He was asked if he ever had a blow job from a woman. They didn't ask if he ever got a blow job from a young blond hunk.

by Anonymousreply 86December 3, 2008 9:02 PM

"But then, that's the beauty of freedom of belief. You have yours, I have mine. "

Unfortunately people like Donny Osmond are VOTING their BELIEFS into our Constitution... "freedom of belief" is a concept that too many Americans don't believe in.

by Anonymousreply 88December 3, 2008 9:03 PM

[italic]Well, I do support our Church leaders who say that we can accept those with gay tendencies in our church as long as they do not act upon their temptations. [/italic]

Aw, how compassionate and understanding, Donny. Problem is, some of us actually attract sex partners and life partners, which means that we do act on our 'temptations'. And we're fine with you not being fine with it.
