“The Winchesters” Is Now Truly Dead
The “Supernatural” franchise is now well and truly over it seems.
The CW’s prequel spin-off series “The Winchesters” has not been able to score a second season pickup anywhere, despite Warner Bros. Television’s efforts to set it up with another network or streamer.
The series shifted the focus to the 1970s and focused on the blossoming romance between a young Mary Campbell (Meg Donnelly) and John Winchester (Drake Rodger) – parents of Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles).
The cancellation news was revealed three weeks ago, arriving two months after the show wrapped its thirteen-episode single season.
The cancellation wasn’t a surprise as the new owners of The CW has been shedding scripted series left and right, whilst executive producers Jensen and Danneel Ackles recently moved shop to Amazon.
According to Deadline, all possible avenues for a reprieve have been exhausted and the search is over – even with a strong #SaveTheWinchesters fan campaign going on.
The news comes as several other The CW shows remain in limbo including “All American: Homecoming,” “Gotham Knights” and most notably “Superman & Lois”.

Too bad, so sad.
Not really a surprise, though.
It just wasn’t popular and it didn’t cover new ground.
They will NEVER be able to capture the magic of the original series. The two leads had so much fucking chemistry.
Hate to say it but the fact that both leads were not involved hurt the show.
Maybe they should have waited a few more years to come out with this.
Hopefully Jared has some luck with his show.

Thank goodness.
The original show went on for too long as it is.

The diversity of the supporting cast was a bit much for the 1960s. The Enby would have been beaten up daily. Dressing like a hippie would not have given them a pass.

'Supernatural' actor Misha Collins opens demining initiative in Ukraine
After all the fighting dies down, Ukrainians will have to deal with untold numbers of deadly mines. United24's latest ambassador Misha Collins has an initiative to tackle the problem.
‘Supernatural’ star Misha Collins is the latest new ambassador for the charity platform set up to aid Ukraine against Russia’s invasion.
The American actor is best known as a season regular Castiel on the hit series, as well as for his latest role as Harvey Dent in ‘Gotham Knights’. This week, he travelled to Kyiv to meet President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to launch a new initiative with United24.
The government-run charity platform was created by Zelenskyy’s office to guarantee donated funds from outside Ukraine directly benefit the country in its ongoing fight against Russia.
“In the very first few months of the war, the international community was outraged and rallied to the cause, and wanted to contribute significant amounts of money,” Collins explains to Euronews, adding, “Of the billions of dollars that were raised only a fraction of a percentile was directed to Ukrainian non-profits or organisations on the ground that were able to funnel that money to Ukrainians in need”.
Naturally, it was important that all this charitable goodwill actually made it to those in need and to the causes it was intended for. Zelenskyy oversaw United24’s creation to solve the problem. Now, through the singular charitable foundation, Ukraine can simply channel all the money donated directly to causes.

Oh terrific. Misha now fancies himself a foreign correspondent.
What could go wrong?

Jensen makes it official.
Misha likes.
I bet Jared & Genevieve had a hearty chuckle.

I'm in agreement with R4: "The Winchesters" was one contemporary anachronism after another. Even if the stories were recycled from "Supernatural," the prequel could've been more faithful to the period.
