I worked at target for the last five years (left in February) and the pride displays weren’t a problem early on. My first year there it was one rack of shirts, shorts, bandanas, some pins, a few pet toys and other small stuff. It was located in the men’s clothing section.

Last year the display took up the whole area where we have set aside for new releases and special designer merch, plus a tower rack and another large display in the aisle. It was a ton of stuff. And some of it was a little weird and over the top to me and maybe should’ve been online only items. Like shirts that say ‘booby girl’ or something like that, in baby and adult sizes. That should go online.

My Target could’ve scaled back some of the more risqué items, but now they will probably have to get rid of it all. Shame.

We definitely noticed an uptick in students identifying as other genders, although it has faded from popularity recently (I would say it peaked around 2018). Is Target selling "tucking" bathing suits marketed to children? I've seen it implied that they do, but the only examples I've seen are the adult size bathing suits. I definitely agree that this would be totally inappropriate for children. Don't see any issue with rainbow items period. Not too keen on seeing messaging regarding sexuality on children's clothing, but I don't want to see religious or political messaging on children's clothing either. Kids don't need to be billboards for their parents beliefs or propaganda.

The AP and others have been playing word games about the tags on the products. They say it’s false that children’s swimwear is part of this because the tags on that swimwear don’t say “tuck-friendly”. However, they bury at the end of the article the admission that a kid’s swimwear does state “Thoughtfully Fit on Multiple Body Types and Gender Expressions.” Target avoided using the word “tuck” on the child size, but just used different words.
