I’m in the Back Bay in Boston now for 24 fucking hours and I haven’t been invited to dinner by Greg yet!

Snippy bitch I’m sure is off in P-Town snorting coke

by Anonymousreply 200June 16, 2023 2:58 AM

OP he's a waiter at Club Café.

by Anonymousreply 1May 23, 2023 12:29 AM

Please. He’s in Dorchester.

by Anonymousreply 2May 23, 2023 12:29 AM

I am in Back Bay and on the Cape.

Dorchester? Ah, no.

Club Café? Ah, no.

OP, where are you? Come over for some coke—I mean, for a drink.

by Anonymousreply 3May 23, 2023 1:18 AM

He’s helping Barbara Lynch dry out in Southie—he had no choice(!)

by Anonymousreply 4May 23, 2023 1:27 AM

Check the baths in Boston.

by Anonymousreply 5May 23, 2023 1:28 AM

I don’t think there are baths in Boston anymore

by Anonymousreply 6May 23, 2023 1:44 AM

Does he even post here anymore as Greg?

by Anonymousreply 7May 23, 2023 1:45 AM

Correct, R6.

by Anonymousreply 8May 23, 2023 4:58 AM

Hello, Dottie!

by Anonymousreply 9May 23, 2023 5:53 AM
Does he even post here anymore as Greg?

It would seem so, yes.

by Anonymousreply 10May 23, 2023 11:53 AM

He probably does R7. I blocked him years ago and there is a bunch of gaps already in this thread.

by Anonymousreply 11May 23, 2023 12:13 PM

R11, I miss you so much. The neck nuzzles. The pillow talk. Come back to me.

by Anonymousreply 12May 23, 2023 12:20 PM

R7, please tell R11 that I think we can work it out if he’ll give me just one more chance.

by Anonymousreply 13May 23, 2023 12:23 PM

By the way, OP, I do all my coke snorting on the Vineyard.

P-Town is strictly for crystal meth.

by Anonymousreply 14May 23, 2023 4:06 PM

If I were in Back Bay tomorrow (the place is closed Monday and Tuesday), I'd be most inclined to have a meal at Barbara Lynch's B&G Oysters. It's in the South End, which is one neighborhood over from Back Bay. Same zip code as Greg, though.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 15May 23, 2023 4:23 PM

B&G Oysters is so good!

by Anonymousreply 16May 23, 2023 4:58 PM

Have you left Back Bay, OP? Tell us all about it.

by Anonymousreply 17May 24, 2023 9:30 PM

OP, I’m in the S. End. Join my husbear and I for cocktail hour. It will start shortly, just as soon as he returns from the garden.

by Anonymousreply 18May 24, 2023 9:42 PM
Join my husbear and I …

Oh, dear!

by Anonymousreply 19May 24, 2023 9:51 PM

R18, where in the South End are you?

by Anonymousreply 20May 24, 2023 9:52 PM

Fuck you OP for mentioning this assholes name. You know that summons him from his fucking cabinet.

SHUT THE FUCK UP GREG!

by Anonymousreply 21May 24, 2023 9:54 PM

R21, what happened to us? You used to be so much fun.

You haven’t been yourself ever since Tina Turner died.

Oh, you’re missing an apostrophe. You should have written, “… this asshole’s name.”

by Anonymousreply 22May 24, 2023 10:04 PM

Greg, what drink would you be offering OP? What is your favorite summer cocktail? I know it's not technically summer yet, but it's warm and summery in Philadelphia today, so my curiosity is piqued.

I myself prefer simple cocktails with only a few ingredients to (typically over-sweet) complicated concoctions but am always interested in hearing what others like.

by Anonymousreply 23May 24, 2023 10:14 PM

Hello, R23! I would first like to know what OP likes.

In the summer I prefer a gin martini or a Mount Gay and tonic in the summer. However lately I’ve been enjoying vodka and grapefruit juice or sometimes a tequila with fresh lime juice.

My house drink (but I seldom have this myself) is vodka, a splash of Cointreau, some cranberry juice, fresh lemon, and fresh lime.

Thanks for asking!

by Anonymousreply 24May 24, 2023 10:26 PM

Mary's parties always suck.

by Anonymousreply 25May 24, 2023 10:30 PM

Oh - I also like a Negroni now and then.

by Anonymousreply 26May 24, 2023 10:31 PM

Every time I think of Greg I think of high tea. And I mean that affectionately. I imagine every time someone stops by Greg's house he has high tea with all the sandwiches and scones ready and waiting.

by Anonymousreply 27May 24, 2023 10:35 PM
My house drink (but I seldom have this myself) is vodka, a splash of Cointreau, some cranberry juice, fresh lemon, and fresh lime.

I have all the ingredients for this! I think I'll try it tonight.

Thanks for your reply. I like a rum and tonic in summer, too. (Zaya is my usual brand, although some people find it a little too heavy, sweet and strong of vanilla.) It's funny how rum seems to work better as a summer drink, even though it's a dark liquor, while whiskey seems more like a winter drink. To me, anyway.

by Anonymousreply 28May 24, 2023 10:51 PM

"My house drink (but I seldom have this myself) is vodka, a splash of Cointreau, some cranberry juice, fresh lemon, and fresh lime."

This sounds like a Cosmopolitan. The cocktail of the 90s.

by Anonymousreply 29May 24, 2023 10:55 PM

Thanks, R23/R28!

Let us know how you like that cocktail.

I agree about whiskey seeming like a winter drink. From late October until March I often have a Manhattan.

Hope you enjoy your evening!

by Anonymousreply 30May 24, 2023 10:56 PM

Yes, R29, I guess it’s similar to a Cosmopolitan. I’m not certain what’s in a Cosmopolitan because it’s not my type of cocktail, but I think this is similar.

I personally try to keep things simple: a dry martini, a Manhattan, JW Black on the rocks. And the drinks I mentioned above.

by Anonymousreply 31May 24, 2023 10:59 PM
Every time I think of Greg I think of high tea. And I mean that affectionately. I imagine every time someone stops by Greg's house he has high tea with all the sandwiches and scones ready and waiting.

That’s sweet, R27.

I wish I were that organized!

Greg is not real.

by Anonymousreply 41May 25, 2023 12:39 AM

Greg, it appears you have humiliated yourself.

by Anonymousreply 42May 25, 2023 12:39 AM

by Anonymousreply 48May 25, 2023 12:50 AM

I like Greg.

But I have a feeling I don't know everything there is to know about Greg.

There’s an excellent neighborhood bistro that makes a tasty Negroni just down the street. We should meet there and compare notes. I’m free thru Saturday, you?
Has Greg been accused of being a fat Republican lesbian yet? That’s the usual trajectory here for a poster like this.

Hello. I’ve been accused of being fat a good many times. I am not fat.

A Republican? Not exactly. But a racist and a homophobe — yes.

A lesbian? No. That is an indignity yet to come.

I am trolling while watching the morning news.

by Anonymousreply 77May 25, 2023 10:51 AM

Very little sleep?

That's common behavior in older people.

Tell us Greg, are you old?

by Anonymousreply 78May 25, 2023 10:55 AM

Did you know that January Jones, Tom Brokaw, Sitting Bull, George McGovern, and L. Frank Baum, all lived here too?

by Anonymousreply 79May 25, 2023 10:55 AM

Well, R78, it depends on how you define ‘old.’

I am 56.

Requiring very little sleep is not a behavior.

by Anonymousreply 80May 25, 2023 10:57 AM

It is R80, people usually need to sleep 8 hours or more, some can feel fine after sleeping only seven or six and a half hours.

by Anonymousreply 81May 25, 2023 11:01 AM

At 56 you're almost an eldergay by DL standards.

by Anonymousreply 82May 25, 2023 11:02 AM

Have you ever had a South Dakota martini?

by Anonymousreply 83May 25, 2023 11:05 AM

No Greg, I don't drink.

What makes a South Dakota Martini different from the other ones?

by Anonymousreply 84May 25, 2023 11:12 AM

R81, I appreciate your sincerity, but requiring or not requiring something is not a behavior. It might lead to a behavior.

I don’t require a lot of sleep to function = Not a behavior.

So I decide to sleep four hours a night = Behavior.

I don’t require many blankets at night = Not a behavior.

So I sleep with just a light coverlet = Behavior.

by Anonymousreply 85May 25, 2023 11:13 AM

We get it Greg, you behave like an old dude.

by Anonymousreply 86May 25, 2023 11:17 AM

R123, you are no consequence to me. But it’s clear that you think about me a lot. Do you think about me every night? Does it make you happy?

The most offensive part of your otherwise charming post is that you think I have faux Tiffany lamps everywhere. I don’t believe in faux things, so I’m afraid I do not possess any faux Tiffany lamps.

At the Cape, most of my lamps are converted whale oil lamps made of Sandwich glass. I like that they are old; I like that the glass was manufactured in Sandwich; and I like that New Bedford, MA was once the city that lit the world, exporting vast quantities of whale oil for lamps in the early 1800s.

These lamps are also handsome and simple. Hi

If you are looking to bludgeon someone with a lamp, a whale oil lamp would be a good choice. They often have marble bases.

You say that I bore my visitors by prattling on about my things. False. I never talk about things I own — I find it boring. If someone asks, that’s another story, but I don’t volunteer the information.

You have a lot of opinions and ideas for someone with inferior intellect. How did you get this way? Do you act this challenged in other areas of your life?

Peace.

Don't be sad Greg, there's no need to cry. DL is made for trolling.

by Anonymousreply 128May 26, 2023 7:28 PM

I wouldn't say I'm sad really. Or crying.

by Anonymousreply 129May 26, 2023 7:40 PM

by Anonymousreply 130May 26, 2023 7:43 PM

If The Practice were still on the air, and I were one of the writers or producers, I would propose an episode in which r123 is on trial for having killed a Greg-like foodologist who had existed for most people only on Instagram. Bobby Donnell would prosecute the fuck out of r123, and we'd find out he was a failed Southie sous-chef from Barbara Lynch's Menton. Maybe we could do some location shooting at the restaurant.

by Anonymousreply 141May 26, 2023 9:53 PM

Not much happening with me, Greg. Another boring evening. I just had an argument with my husband and before that did some grocery shopping. Good to hear from you, though!.

by Anonymousreply 142May 26, 2023 9:55 PM
What are you having for dinner tonight, Greg, and what sorts of plants do you have?

Hi there! I am grilling some chicken thighs and serving them with tiny marble-sized boiled potatoes tossed with butter, parsley, and sea salt. And I'm making a Caesar salad.

What about you?
Greg needs to suck my cock

Who told you that, R141?

by Anonymousreply 144May 26, 2023 9:56 PM

That dinner you're making sounds delicious, Greg! I'm having cheeseburgers with red wine and strawberries for dessert.

by Anonymousreply 145May 26, 2023 9:58 PM

Thanks, R137/R145!

Cheeseburgers, red wine, and strawberries sounds really good, too! Enjoy!

by Anonymousreply 146May 26, 2023 10:10 PM

Thanks for proving my point at r135 Greg!

by Anonymousreply 147May 26, 2023 10:15 PM
Thanks for proving my point at [R135] Greg!

You're welcome, R134/R147.

It's not all that passive.

by Anonymousreply 148May 26, 2023 10:18 PM

It’s fun to log out, read Greg’s replies/sock puppetry, and then log back in. Half the fun with twice the effort.

by Anonymousreply 149May 26, 2023 11:08 PM

I have an endless supply of sock puppets.

Come back often!

by Anonymousreply 150May 26, 2023 11:17 PM

Since this seems to be a Greg AMA, I would like to ask what Greg would like to do for a living if he couldn’t do what he is currently doing professionally. Unless he retired at 56, which changes my theory a bit.

I apologize if this has been covered already…I do not keep up with all of the posts but I enjoy a little Greg now and then. I REALLY enjoy how much he triggers some of the posters - why is everyone so upset by cod and prunes?

by Anonymousreply 151May 26, 2023 11:28 PM

Did Greg go to school in “Boston” or somewhere nearby?i seem him more as a Tufts guy, or maybe Simmons or Stonehill.

by Anonymousreply 152May 26, 2023 11:32 PM

Hello, Mr. Tits.

Just what is your theory?

by Anonymousreply 153May 26, 2023 11:38 PM
I REALLY enjoy how much he triggers some of the posters.

You and I have that in common. It is great fun to touch so many little nerves, just by being a nice guy.

by Anonymousreply 154May 26, 2023 11:40 PM

I've said it before and will say it again but I thoroughly enjoy threads with Greg. I can't understand why some people are so triggered. He has never been anything but a nice guy.

by Anonymousreply 155May 26, 2023 11:46 PM

Mwah, R155! 😘

by Anonymousreply 156May 26, 2023 11:48 PM

Who is this Mr. Tits? Is that Instagram or Onlyfans?

by Anonymousreply 157May 26, 2023 11:49 PM

I believe Mr. Tits is also known as Dutchie.

by Anonymousreply 158May 27, 2023 12:15 AM
I've said it before and will say it again but I thoroughly enjoy threads with Greg. I can't understand why some people are so triggered. He has never been anything but a nice guy.

Mostly true. There was that time he made fun of my turquoise Fiestaware.

by Anonymousreply 159May 27, 2023 12:21 AM

Come on, R159. Turquoise Fiestaware? You can’t bait me like that.

by Anonymousreply 160May 27, 2023 12:27 AM

First, Greg, know that I have been one of your biggest supporters since you appeared last year (or at least, since I noticed you last year). Also, I spent most of the '80s catering, and I'm familiar with nearly all the food you make. And I love it. I have no idea why people pick on you. It makes no sense to me.

But then, I like Tim O'Tay, and others whom the DL at large appear to wish to destroy. It took me a while, but eventually I figured out that people come here to hate. #1 purpose: to Datalounge is to hate.

You know what I hate? White dishes. I just have never liked them. My first set of adult dishes were clear—something from Italy. I love Italian food more than any other, always have, so the dishes seemed like a no-brainer. But they were kind of boring.

So I bought some from Metlox Colorstax. Fiesta had yet to return to the market (Bloomingdale's brought them back in 1986). And then some Apilco from Williams-Sonoma. Had to have SOME white dishes, right? But they were boring. And then Fiesta came back, and in the '90s, I bought a set in Turquoise.

[bold]It turns out more foods look good on turquoise than on any color but white. Very complimentary with red, orange, green, brown.[/bold] I don't like the other Fiesta colors as much. Maybe dark blue. Corollary to all of this: I've never wanted to be [italic]elegante[/italic], so Fiesta and Colorstax always suited me stylewise, too.

Anyway, that's my dish story. You've shared so much with us. I thought I should share a little with you.

Oh, postscript: if I had it to do over, I would purchase a set of Vecchio Ginori porcelain dinnerware. It really is beautiful. And I love the way it feels in my hand.

I like Greg more now that I know he's 56.

Incidentally, while back there to see my pahtnuh on the Noth Shawr in April, I'd wanted to visit "The City" to see Back Bay, the South End, and supposedly crunchy granola, Lezbie Jamaica Plain, but once again, didn't have time, as we were too busy mating like elder weasels and eating at Kowloon in Saugus (a total campfest with grotesquely inauthentic "Oriental" cuisine and extra large, girly cocktails) and Nightshade Noodle Bar ($ublime) in beautiful, exclusive, tony downtown Lynn.

Greg, aside from being invited to dinner by you, what does one do in Back Bay as a tourist? Any highlights to mention? Will be returning in October to permanently extract my man from the Bay State. We won't be dinning at any of alcoholic tyrant Barbara Lynch's overpriced establishments.

by Anonymousreply 164May 27, 2023 2:15 PM

R162, Back Bay is great for tourists. I will create an itinerary for you s as I’d the mister. How many days will you be there?

Why do you like me more now that you know I’m 56?

Kowloon on Route One! So funny. I haven’t been there in years.

by Anonymousreply 165May 27, 2023 2:20 PM

^edited: I will create an itinerary for you and the mister.

by Anonymousreply 166May 27, 2023 2:21 PM

^ he bites…be careful

by Anonymousreply 167May 27, 2023 5:50 PM

“what does one do in Back Bay as a tourist?”

There’s a swan boat—if you’re under 10 years old. Does that count?

by Anonymousreply 168May 27, 2023 5:51 PM

Heh r168, when we moved back to Boston (where I had grown up) in the 90s, I insisted to my now-husband that we HAD to go on the swan boats, which I remembered with great fondness. Oh my goodness, five minutes in I was ready to cut a bitch, any bitch, to escape the tedium.

by Anonymousreply 169May 27, 2023 6:18 PM

The swan boats are for children.

by Anonymousreply 170May 27, 2023 6:22 PM

Memories are best…left where they were!

by Anonymousreply 171May 27, 2023 6:28 PM

R167 Does Greg bite cock? 😂

by Anonymousreply 174May 27, 2023 10:12 PM

R174, please give it a rest.

by Anonymousreply 176May 27, 2023 10:43 PM
OP is Mark Sassu?

I wouldn’t give him that much credit.

by Anonymousreply 177May 27, 2023 10:50 PM

@Greg02116, Will be in the Salem arear (as my pahtnuh calls it - he adds the intrusive 'R') for two weeks in October liquidating his MASSetts before moving him back to CA for married, domestic bliss. Have seen every square inch of the North Shore/Essex county, VT, NH, PTown, and S. Maine. Plan to spend two days for Acadia NP for leaf peeping, a day trip to see the mansions of Newport, RI, and maybe a tacky bus trip to Foxwoods so I can finally say I've been to Connecticut. Also one or two days in Boston proper. Have seen parts of Boston, Cambridge, and Somerville, but not Back Bay, The Fenway, or the South End. Any suggestions for seeing those neighborhoods? Not extremely expensive restaurants?

It will be weird not having to fly back there 3-4 times a year and him flying out here 4-5 times a year. We've been doing this for 4.5 years. Am embarrassed not to have seen much of Boston. I guess it's small, but would like to see all the nooks and crannies.

by Anonymousreply 178May 28, 2023 4:37 AM

Just remember - Greg is FAT!

by Anonymousreply 179May 28, 2023 1:08 PM

I doubt Greg, or any of us, needed that much info R162… navelgazing posts aren’t where it’s at on DL

by Anonymousreply 180May 28, 2023 1:11 PM

That’s right, R179, I’m SO fat.

by Anonymousreply 181May 28, 2023 2:45 PM

r180, I'll post whatever I want to post -- and that's not up to you. Have been here since 1998. Don't try to tell me "where it's at on DL". So, fuck off, go die in a grease fire, and get off my lawn.

by Anonymousreply 182May 29, 2023 2:31 PM

Looks like Defacto had an extremely lonely Memorial Day weekend. Sad.

by Anonymousreply 183May 29, 2023 2:33 PM

R182 Older than the hills…I think I ran into him once; he was a saber-tooth tiger at the La Brea Tar Pits museum.

by Anonymousreply 184May 29, 2023 3:21 PM

by Anonymousreply 189June 15, 2023 7:40 PM

I just can’t help myself, R189/OP.

by Anonymousreply 190June 15, 2023 7:56 PM

Hey little boy—want a big, thick filet of cod? I’ve got two prunes as well. Give me call—we can Zoom-a-zoom.

by Anonymousreply 191June 15, 2023 8:07 PM

by Anonymousreply 192June 15, 2023 9:26 PM

No, he's from South Dakota.

by Anonymousreply 193June 15, 2023 9:32 PM

Am I a South Dakotan bot?

by Anonymousreply 194June 15, 2023 9:43 PM

by Anonymousreply 196June 15, 2023 10:30 PM

by Anonymousreply 197June 15, 2023 10:33 PM
