DL Icon Jillian Michaels: Fat People need to go on Diets not Ozempic

Does DL agree with her?

by Anonymousreply 66June 6, 2023 1:04 AM

Why take health advice from some bitch with all that GOO injected into her ugly face?

by Anonymousreply 1February 20, 2023 12:25 AM

Too bad no one has convinced her not to use Botox.

by Anonymousreply 2February 20, 2023 12:34 AM

Cool story thanks for sharing

by Anonymousreply 3February 20, 2023 12:35 AM

She's not well positioned to criticize other people's looks given how she currently looks. She's like a Cubist painting at this point.

by Anonymousreply 4February 20, 2023 12:37 AM

Ozempic is putting her out of business. Good!

by Anonymousreply 5February 20, 2023 12:40 AM

Yet Jillian Michaels had all of her contestants on Phentermine.

by Anonymousreply 6February 20, 2023 12:43 AM

I feel like "icon" is stretching it, we haven't talked about her much in years.

by Anonymousreply 7February 20, 2023 12:45 AM

Some people need more help than others when it comes to weight loss. If Ozempic helps them, then there is nothing wrong with that. But all too often, people look for a magic pill and don't want to change certain other behaviors. Even with gastric bypass, if you don't change certain behaviors the weight will come back.

I am someone who lost a lot of weight through diet and exercise, but I did it incorrectly. I slashed my calories next to nothing and I was exercising twice a day, once at 5 am and once at 6 pm for an hour each time. I couldn't sustain that lifestyle, long term. So I had to adjust and figure out that everything works better in moderation.

Some people are taking Ozempic and still eating Big Macs everyday, that's not gonna work.

by Anonymousreply 8February 20, 2023 12:49 AM

Get a Uhaul instead.

by Anonymousreply 9February 20, 2023 12:52 AM

I'm inclined to agree with her. Taking weight loss drugs may get the weight off you, but what are you going to do when you stop taking the drugs? Your appetite is going to come right back I would think. Diet drugs are fake & temporary willpower.

by Anonymousreply 10February 20, 2023 12:53 AM

Jesus Christ, what happened to her face???

by Anonymousreply 11February 20, 2023 12:54 AM

Sexy

by Anonymousreply 13February 20, 2023 1:14 AM

Wow. She looks hardened.

by Anonymousreply 14February 20, 2023 1:15 AM

Meanwhile, her ex, having taken a plea deal in her bottomless-"sleepdriving"-into-a-cop case, is in Ohio trying to scrape up a few Facetime training clients. She also recently claimed they used to get thrown out of restaurants due to Jillian's proclivity for swearing, screaming, and spitting on people.

And the best reality shit-show we can get is [italic]Real Friends of WeHo[/italic]?
Hi everyone! I hope you are happy and that 2023 will be a positive year to grow and make much needed changes! Your body can feel like a prison. Cutting into your confidence and self esteem. As you know; when I moved to Ohio, I put on weight fast. I got up to 170 which sounds nuts for me! I noticed I would not shine as much when I went out. I didn’t smile as much or talk to strangers. My health declined; I was tired…your whole brain and body are deeply affected when overweight. My resolution is to get muscle like I’ve always had…the rest will happen. The pill does have some nasty side effects.

by Anonymousreply 16February 20, 2023 1:44 AM

another loser who is against modern medicine. These people have always existed in human history, and you should not listen to them.

by Anonymousreply 17February 20, 2023 1:49 AM

If this is how those people can manage to lose weight, good luck to them.

Food choices and weight are not about the morality of the fat person (or the anorexic for that matter). I don't like seeing awful people like Michaels framing it in that way.

by Anonymousreply 18February 20, 2023 1:59 AM

R10, there is talk of users staying on the medicine forever. Diabetics surely are on it for life.

by Anonymousreply 19February 20, 2023 2:03 AM

Yeah, fuck her. Research shows that Ozempic is more effective than dieting. This bitch is just pissed that her gravy train is about to dry up.

by Anonymousreply 20February 20, 2023 2:06 AM

Some people may experience dizziness, arythmia, sleeplessness, liver damage, hardening of the arteries, scrofula, spontaneous outbursts of singing Broadway tunes, increase in nose hairs, and ringing in the ears.

by Anonymousreply 21February 20, 2023 2:24 AM

She’s trying to get more jobs for promoting heathy eating. So she can get more plastic surgery. Most of the people from that show regained their weight.

by Anonymousreply 22February 20, 2023 3:00 AM

Christ, I didn't even recognize her.🤷

by Anonymousreply 23February 20, 2023 3:03 AM

If people ignore the advice of their doctors in order to follow the advice of this angry, unfortunate-looking woman, they are fools.

by Anonymousreply 24February 20, 2023 1:07 PM

R15 She's done two interviews on the Hot Takes, Deep Dives podcast where she just trashes Jillian. While Jackie herself is a hot mess has been, the interviews are bitch fest gold.

by Anonymousreply 25February 20, 2023 1:36 PM

So the choices to remain thin are Ozempic for the rest of your life or diet for the rest of your life? Ozempic sounds preferable. I agree she is angry that she is losing business due to the drug

by Anonymousreply 26February 20, 2023 1:45 PM

I don't know anything about this drug so I did some research. You mean to tell me people have to go in and get a puncture every single week as long as they're on the stuff? Or do they give the patients hypos to take home and jab themselves?

That said, I can't believe (as was stated above) that any doctor would prescribe this medication for someone to take for the rest of their life to maintain weight loss.

by Anonymousreply 27February 20, 2023 2:19 PM
Christ, I didn't even recognize her.

Her?

by Anonymousreply 28February 20, 2023 2:27 PM

She look like a man.

by Anonymousreply 29February 20, 2023 2:29 PM

She is correct. As someone who has always had to exercise to keep off the pounds, I refuse to be told that I am perfectly fine with a spare tire around my waist or layered dough ankles. It is not beautiful.

Also, as someone who was bedridden for over 5 years because of a medical injury, and gaining a lot of weight, I can speak of the horrendous effects obesity can cause on the body, without being shamed for stating MY FACTS.

I do not like or want to be fat and after years of being sick, because of those years bedridden, I continue to fight and keep my weight down and live a healthy life.

But the confused straight men do seem to love the soft doughy chest titties.

by Anonymousreply 30February 20, 2023 2:30 PM

I'm sure the idea is to eat healthy with the pills.

It's easy to criticize others for eating too much when you are never hungry or for not exercising when you weight 80 pounds

by Anonymousreply 31February 20, 2023 2:31 PM

Why is everyone trashing her face. She's looks great for 50, as seen in the picture at top. She's always had an "intense" look.

She has an abrasive personality and back in the day, she was willing to put her name on any diet-related scam that would put money in her bank account. She has endorsed vitamins, a meal delivery service, exercise clothing and lot of other things that didn't last. But still, everyone knows that diet drugs like Ozempic are never better than exercising and calorie monitoring.

Where can I find Jackie's podcast sessions? Both of them seem to be obnoxious; I can't imagine them together. A few years back, Jillian seemed to be in a good relationship with a stable woman. Jillian adopted a girl from Haiti, and her partner had a baby through IVF. Then Jillian left the family to run around the country with a younger women, regularly photographing themselves at fancy hotels.

by Anonymousreply 32February 20, 2023 2:32 PM
You mean to tell me people have to go in and get a puncture every single week as long as they're on the stuff? Or do they give the patients hypos to take home and jab themselves?

You give yourself the shot once a week. It comes in prefilled syringes from the pharmacy. It’s a diabetes drug that millions of people have been taking for years. Researchers noticed that almost everyone on it was losing significant amounts of weight, so they started testing it in nondiabetics and found it to be effective.

by Anonymousreply 33February 20, 2023 2:33 PM

I think she's right if only because you just know there's going to be side effects at some point.

by Anonymousreply 34February 20, 2023 2:35 PM

It's just an appetite suppressant. It's for the weak minded, it doesn't do anything that causes you to lose weight at all.

by Anonymousreply 35February 20, 2023 2:35 PM

She's right. Nothing against pills for weight loss but I don't see the use of this particular drug ending well for this purpose.

by Anonymousreply 36February 20, 2023 2:36 PM

Sometimes they need both.

by Anonymousreply 37February 20, 2023 2:37 PM

She is correct that people need to learn how to eat healthier. My immediate friend group and family are very healthy and so I am always shocked when I go on work trips (or Datalounge, lol) and people are just sucking down MickeyDs fries and Halo Top ice cream

by Anonymousreply 38February 20, 2023 2:38 PM

Our culture is so fucked up and it’s killing people

Why is this Jillian person given a platform to spout dangerous nonsense about other peoples’ healthcare issues that they’ve worked through with their own doctors??Insanity.

by Anonymousreply 39February 20, 2023 3:48 PM

One of the side effects I've heard of is called "Ozempic face." Rapid weightloss leads to looking older

by Anonymousreply 40February 20, 2023 4:08 PM

That happens with rapid weight loss regardless of the method R40

by Anonymousreply 41February 20, 2023 4:53 PM
It's just an appetite suppressant. It's for the weak minded, it doesn't do anything that causes you to lose weight at all.

It’s more than an appetite suppressant, R35. You’d be wise to bone up on the subject before opening your mouth.

by Anonymousreply 42February 20, 2023 4:57 PM

I was always wondering what happened to Jackie. Wow, she really went downhill.

by Anonymousreply 43February 20, 2023 8:24 PM

I got it for my diabetes and somewhere along the way, I got a side effect that caused some bleeding in my eyeballs. (Also some digestive system distress.) Taken off before it caused real harm. I did lose some weight, but that was mostly from my change of eating habits. Pizza&Chips B gone!

by Anonymousreply 44February 20, 2023 8:26 PM
it doesn't do anything that causes you to lose weight at all.

It actually does a lot, and that’s a double-edged sword. Semaglutide is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) agonist, meaning it binds to GLP-1 receptors (GLP-1R), thereby blocking the body’s own GLP-1.

Think of GLP-1R as a lock on a room to which only you have the key. When you're the only one with access to the room, everything is status quo. One day a locksmith comes along, gets into the room, and starts messing around with the controls. Insulin secretion goes way up, glucagon release goes way down, and gluconeogenesis slows to a crawl.

On semaglutide, one of the main aspects of appetite suppression is induced gastroparesis. The food just sits there. When used as an adjunct for type-2 diabetics who are failing on Metformin, the #1 reason for discontinuation is GI trouble.

When used for weight loss, the gastroparesis is seen as a plus. People won’t want to snack or eat another large meal when their last meal still feels like a brick in their gut. The hope is that patients will figure things out—what, when, and how much to eat—before the dosage is ramped up. So there is still an aspect of self-control involved.

If people are expecting a miracle drug which will allow them to eat in the manner they’re accustomed to, they’re in for a lot of discomfort (and vomit). Also, when you factor in how many emotional overeaters there are, physically removing their coping mechanism without any mental health support tends to end in tears.

by Anonymousreply 45February 20, 2023 8:57 PM

She’s right. Many patients should be taking Ozempic. Many, many more should not. They are not diabetic.

Doctors are throwing Ozempic prescriptions at everyone with a bit of extra weight. They enjoy helping people magically take off weight.

But it’s not sustainable. It may make sense for a diabetic to be on it for life because the physical problems associated with the disease make the side effects worth it.

But the weight comes right back on if you stop (because it fucks up your metabolism, which is the last thing a fat person needs).

by Anonymousreply 46February 20, 2023 8:57 PM
They enjoy helping people magically take off weight.

More like: year upon year of HONDAs refusing to make even the slightest lifestyle change as their health deteriorates and puts them on a trajectory to an early grave. They will take a pill, however.

“Doctors are throwing Ozempic prescriptions at everyone…”

STOP IT! This is a lie! You have ZERO evidence of this because it is not true.

This stupid lie is hurting people who need this drug to survive.

STOP IT!!

by Anonymousreply 48February 20, 2023 9:20 PM

On the Upper East Side I know two women who were given a sample starter dose by their GP. Neither has more than 15 pounds to lose (and that’s by socialite standards). These doctors are pushing this stuff.

There was also a morning segment on Fox5 where Rosanna Scotto interviewed a weight-loss doctor who was clearly shilling the drugs (not just Ozempic), and directed people to her website to see which drugs she recommends — and prescribes.

I predict this will be yet another fen-phen, Olestra (remember that, elderGays?), lap-band thing. It’s not a good idea for wide swathes of the population to be taking this stuff.

by Anonymousreply 49February 20, 2023 9:35 PM

R13, Gillian Anderson.

I happen to like Jillian Michaels because she pulls no punches. And I agree with her on this. I have a friend who is not diabetic who started taking Ozempic for weight loss. I, on the other hand, have been reducing my calories and exercising. My friend does not exercise at all. My friend is losing more weight than I am with Ozempic but mainly because she feels sick most of the time on the drug and can't eat because she wants to puke. We are actually neck and neck with our respective weight loss with her being a bit ahead of me. But I feel better than I have in ages with working out and eating better. My friend eats out constantly, getting fast food most nights because she doesn't want to cook. I have always been active but I have always had weight issues. It makes no sense, really considering I'm working out 6 days a week and eating very small portions. But I'm old now and so it takes more time for the weight to come off. I'll lose 2 lbs in a week, and then gain it back on the weekend. This will happen about 3 times until the weight finally stays down. I'm really ok with that now as I think my body just has a tendency to to take a while to lose the weight I've carried for so long. I've lost 61 lbs since last year.

I was tempted to take Ozempic, but after watching what it's doing to my friend, it's not for me. I even considered gastric bypass but I've watched many friends get it and then a few years later, they are right back to the weight they were prior and now they've fucked up their body's ability to absorb nutrients.

I listen to Jillian's podcast and have been for years and I find her really informative. She makes no secret that she's had work done (including a nose job) and she seems to me that she has really grown up over the years.

by Anonymousreply 50February 20, 2023 10:01 PM

R48, I have a close friend who is slightly overweight and not diabetic. Her doc encouraged her to get on Ozempic to slim down.

After taking off close to 15 lbs, he’s now informed her (which he didn’t up front) that the only way to keep it off is to stay on it. Otherwise, he said, the weight will come back on immediately.

She should never have been prescribed the drug. She doesn’t meet the guidelines.

She’s one of many examples. So many people are being put on this drug would should not be.

by Anonymousreply 51February 20, 2023 10:07 PM

I actually think the opposite, R49. This stuff is the real deal. It’s no more of a fad than Viagra was.

And for all of those crying “diabetics who really need it can’t get it,” those are temporary supply constraints. The company who makes the stuff is rapidly scaling up production to meet demand. Soon they’ll be able to supply everybody who wants it whether it’s for diabetes or weight loss.

There will also be more drugs that work on the same mechanisms, and more ways to deliver it beyond injections.

I think the future is very bright for semaglutide.

by Anonymousreply 54February 20, 2023 10:29 PM

Good for you, R50. Keep up the good work.

Unless someone is prepared to change their diet for good, these quick fix solutions will always fail.

by Anonymousreply 55February 20, 2023 10:33 PM
One of the side effects I've heard of is called "Ozempic face." Rapid weightloss leads to looking older

The opposite of that is a syndrome called "Datalounge face" Too much posting leads to looking 10 years younger

by Anonymousreply 56February 20, 2023 10:37 PM

A few months ago it was Victoza. I have an endless supply because my doctor gets a bonus or something and refuses to stop prescribing it to me. The cost is $1,200.00 a month, which is covered by my insurance. I think it's time to turn her in. My prescriptions are on auto-ship, so they're mailed to me. But I only take on pill per day.

by Anonymousreply 57February 20, 2023 10:42 PM

It’s too good to be true.

I’m not denying that it’s effective. It works. I just think that there’s going to be some unintended disastrous consequence we haven’t foreseen.

Doctors operate on razor-thin profit margins, so they’re happy to ring the register and prescribe it to anyone and everyone. The insurance companies are going to rein it in soon, too, I bet.

by Anonymousreply 58February 21, 2023 3:31 PM

If we’re supposed to accept that trannies being prescribed unnecessary hormones is called “gender-affirming care”, then I don’t see why anyone should have a problem with fat people being given a drug that’s been shown to effectively cause weight loss.

by Anonymousreply 59February 21, 2023 3:35 PM

Way to introduce TransObsession into an unrelated conversation R59!!

Way to go!!

by Anonymousreply 60February 21, 2023 3:38 PM

I think a big reason why people get sick on this stuff is because they’re still eating the way they did before they started the medication. You cannot do that. You have to fundamentally change your diet and your eating habits. You can’t binge. You can’t eat large, greasy meals. You have to be comfortable going long stretches without eating because digestion is slowed. I think a lot of people get sick because they can’t accept their new reality.

If you’re willing to change your ways, however, then this drug is a tool that can help. If you want to fast more without intense food cravings, if you want to eat less, if you’re not too much of an emotional binge eater and ready to fight your impulses, then semaglutide is worth a try.

by Anonymousreply 61February 21, 2023 4:09 PM

My friend who is on it (and shouldn’t be) has mentioned that many foods taste different since she’s been on it, including some of her favorite foods.

by Anonymousreply 62February 21, 2023 4:17 PM
So the choices to remain thin are Ozempic for the rest of your life or diet for the rest of your life?

You're not "dieting for the rest of your life." You're supposed to make permanent changes in your everyday eating.

Agree with R61, but if you could to make diet changes (which is hard for most people), then you probably could do without Ozempic.
