British vs. American atheists

The British ones sure like to bang on about it, now don't they?

I wonder if they scream their own names when they come.

Great candidate for the most ridiculous thread today.

[quote]American atheist, not that obsessed with it, actually

Good for you, honey, good for you. Here, have a cookie.

I think it's because Americans are generally religious, so the British feel they have to differentiate themselves somehow -- just like when they altered their speech and developed Received Pronunciation (aka King's/Queen's English) in the 1800s, post-Revolutionary War.

They scream "Oh, Jesus Fucking Christ", OP.

And they should be loud. All of us atheists should be, like all the religious freaks are always loud. That's the only way to deal with them.

Who are these British atheists?

There are some dickheads on Twitter who feel the need to opine on every single issue but they're not representative of any particular group.

Britain is largely a secular country where people have the right to practice their religion and have religious beliefs protected under the Equality Act but they don't have the right to practice discrimination against other protected groups based on their beliefs, such as the Christian who worked at a registry office, refused to officiate for civil partnerships and was sacked.

Are you serious, OP? You've never heard about Madeline Murray O'Hair and her proselytizing for atheism in America?

Wolf found an atheist in the buckle of the Bible Belt. Never make assumptions. Good for her!
