Economic downturn, a recession, it's all hype... if everyone keeps saying it, it becomes more real. My online auction sales are very strong this holiday season, were strong all through the pandemic and inflation, people are still spending, buying, and consuming... Christmas is going to be very green this year, and you can quote me. :-)

"The recession that refuses to strike America on time, and how this is a major problem for Dems and Joe Biden"

--The New York Times

The media are fucking assholes! They want gloom and doom when there is none...the jobs report came out yesterday and it was robust...people are hiring like crazy. That does not feed the narrative of trying to torpedo Biden. The media doesn't want to give Biden a win and lift the country up...cunts all around! Biden is doing a heck of a job! Let's get Warnock across the finish line next week!!!!!

So why is the stock market keep tanking?

by Anonymousreply 7December 3, 2022 7:29 AM

Corporate greed.

by Anonymousreply 8December 3, 2022 7:31 AM

Black Friday sales are for those who will immediately be hit by a downturn. Low income scuzz bags who can't live without the latest big screen tv, waffle maker, soda machine.

Last year they overhyped Q4 growth than created a false Q1 "recession" by reporting unseasonally adjusted numbers. They will do the same this year and then claim it is a "double dip" recession. The media and their republican masters have no shame.

by Anonymousreply 10December 3, 2022 12:15 PM

Or they will overhype "inflation" as they have been doing all along, when food and energy are being deliberately spiked by corporate oligarchies.

by Anonymousreply 11December 3, 2022 12:16 PM

All that talk about inevitable recession seems to be fading as the economy keeps expanding. In fact, last quarter the economy expanded more than any of Trump’s first 3 years

by Anonymousreply 12December 3, 2022 12:54 PM

Those BF sales numbers are not adjusted for inflation. Sure people are spending more--everything costs more! But they're getting less.

by Anonymousreply 13December 3, 2022 1:20 PM

R13, this has been a record Xmas sales season so far. Inflation isn’t stopping people from buying apparently

by Anonymousreply 14December 3, 2022 1:27 PM

[quote] So why is the stock market keep tanking?

The Dow is up nearly 5% over the last 6 months.

by Anonymousreply 15December 3, 2022 1:30 PM

It's inflation. Prices for things are absurd and needlessly high.

by Anonymousreply 16December 3, 2022 1:35 PM

Inflation has also been trending downward the last 4 months.

Like crime, the need for 24/7 news to find something to scare people into watching is a curse on modern life. The negativity associated with “news” now is making life worse. Inflation is 70%+ about corporations making record profits and using it as an excuse to jack up prices. It’s also the result of an insane political motivation to provide constant never ending “growth” so no one is left holding the hot potato. Hence 0.5 percent Fed rates for years to “prevent” recession - resulting in hyper spending and unsustainable “growth”
