Pretty sure that's not true as you can see by the fabulous Beverly Hills mansion they bought with Ron's money. By 1960 Ron Howard had already starred in "The Music Man" and was in a hit TV series, "The Andy Griffith Show". Modest digs for a "star" like Ron Howard. Ron has mentioned that even as a child "star" he had to cut the grass before he was given his allowance.
