As much as Billy Porter annoys me, I think it's deserved. I don't think a walk of fame star is based on any sort of exacting standard. It's a kitschy thing done to promote tourism, not a deeply-considered rumination on excellence in the arts. It's not a Nobel Prize.

I really liked him as Pray Tell on Pose - even considering how quickly the show went downhill. But Pose and all the attention it garnered is probably the genesis of his currently insufferable self. Maybe he was before, but he became more of a general celeb figure in light of Pose.

No doubt he’s talented and worthy of the star, but he’s still annoying and insufferable.

I don’t have strong feelings about Billy Porter one way or another; I’ve never seen any show he’s been in. But if he’s been able to so easily push the buttons of so many of you on here… for what? For being too femme, too outré, too unwilling to suit YOUR idea of how gay men should present themselves in public? For THAT alone I think he deserves the star on Hollywood Boulevard.
