Why didn’t Cassandra tell the opposite of her prophecies?

If she could see the future but would be disbelieved, shouldn’t she have just said the opposite?

Maybe she’d be completely disregarded anyway?

OP It doesn't work that way

The gift comes with the curse of being unable to speak other than than the truth.

The additional curse of not being believed was added on by Apollo when Cassandra refused his advances. He could not take back the gift once given, but he could, in his fury of wounded male ego, mar it.

Somewhat in reverse like the good fairy at Aurora's christening: she couldn't undo the bad fairy's curse on the infant, but she could amend it.

Even the powerful have to obey some rules with this stuff.

Because she was CURSED, OP, because she wouldn't PUT OUT.

by Anonymousreply 2November 24, 2022 1:30 PM

She was #MeToo'd into doing it, you're trying to retroactively project agency onto her when she had none, thereby nullifying her lived experience. I hope you're happy with what you've done, OP.

Pity Cassandra that no one believed her.

She wasn’t a real person so there’s no need to worry your pretty little head about it.

one of the saddest things in greek mythology

by Anonymousreply 6November 24, 2022 1:58 PM

Yet you are still bothered enough to respond, r5.

So I win.

by Anonymousreply 7November 24, 2022 1:58 PM

Sorry, Cassandra

I think you’re a bit confused about how that comeback works, r7.

by Anonymousreply 9November 24, 2022 2:04 PM

No, I’m not.

by Anonymousreply 10November 24, 2022 2:33 PM

Because it's a great lesson about the stupidity of the masses.

by Anonymousreply 11November 24, 2022 2:58 PM

Because Cassandra was like that.

by Anonymousreply 12November 24, 2022 3:07 PM

she's cray cray

I also like the version where Apollo sent a snake and it licked her ear in a temple to give her powers(along with her twin Helenus)

Don't cross Cassandra...

Beats the hell out of me.
