I'm hesitant to even post, since so few seem to like him, but I saw Ben Friday at the Rady Sell in San Diego. There were 6000 there, and I was surprised at the crowd mix. No one over 50, and a mix of gay and straight couples and groups of friends.

Ben thanked the audience many times during the show, as it drizzled throughout. People were dancing and cheering the whole time.

I was able to hear the sound check as well. Lovely, with him and the back up singers acapella at points.

Most of the songs were from his albums, although he did a song from Waitress and a great cover of Gaga's You And I.

The main thing for me was seeing an out gay man, talking about his boyfriend and singing songs in a large venue that were about same sex love, and an audience that loved it That was a first foe me..

No, he's not a beauty but he put on a great show. He was quite nice afterwards. Just conjecture on my part but the failure of the DEH movie and his last album not being a success may have taken some wind out of his sails. I think that was probably a good thing.
