Did Blanche die at the end?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 20, 2022 10:00 PM |
When I watched it as a kid, r11? No she didn't.

Under no circumstance let my sister read the contents of this letter.

Fabulous R18
by Anonymous | reply 19 | August 20, 2022 10:45 PM |
You should also like Rhapsody in Noir, r19...
by Anonymous | reply 20 | August 20, 2022 10:47 PM |
I do, R20 - very much.
Thanks!
by Anonymous | reply 21 | August 20, 2022 10:54 PM |

Imagine being a guest at Faye's house and saying, "what's on TCM tonight?"
by Anonymous | reply 26 | August 20, 2022 11:19 PM |
That fat ass sure had a mean bitch for a mom
by Anonymous | reply 27 | August 20, 2022 11:21 PM |
Bette disinherited BD, R22. Kathryn Sermak (Bette's assistant) and her adopted son, Michael Merrill, benefited from the will. Michael had also, I assume, the responsibility of guardian to Margot, Bette's "mentally retahded" adopted daughter, until her recent death.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | August 20, 2022 11:36 PM |
Mildred Pierce next.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | August 20, 2022 11:50 PM |
Tuesday was Raquel Welch day. They showed all of her classics.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | August 21, 2022 12:01 AM |
[quote] They showed all of her classics.
So they filled a two-hour block?
by Anonymous | reply 31 | August 21, 2022 12:03 AM |
Tomorrow is Clint Eastwood day. And the second film they're showing is the one in which he co-starred with Carol Channing!
by Anonymous | reply 32 | August 21, 2022 12:13 AM |
That would be The First Traveling Saleslady, 32.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | August 21, 2022 12:35 AM |
^r32
by Anonymous | reply 34 | August 21, 2022 12:36 AM |
Queen Bee was camp classic. How have I never seen this before?
by Anonymous | reply 35 | August 21, 2022 2:23 AM |
"The Damned Don't Cry" (1950), with Spanish subtitles for our amigos.
Joan excelled at those rags-to-riches-to-tragedy roles. After all, wasn't it her own story?
by Anonymous | reply 36 | August 21, 2022 3:01 AM |
I don't know, r35. And you being *such* a Betsy Palmer fan...and all.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | August 21, 2022 3:11 AM |
From Jeopardy:
A: A Raquel Welch movie title, also Joan Crawford's birth year.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | August 21, 2022 3:36 AM |
What about a Victor Buono day?
by Anonymous | reply 40 | August 21, 2022 3:42 AM |
Victor B and his mother, Delia, were the best part of WEHtoBJ. They should have had their own spin-off.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | August 21, 2022 3:59 AM |
Joan Crawford, The Ultimate Movie Star. Thats the best documentary I've ever seen on Crawford. TCM should play that again at some point.
I wish it was on YouTube.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | August 21, 2022 4:20 AM |
And now Mommie Dearest is on Showtime opposite The Damned Don't Cry on TCM.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | August 21, 2022 6:12 AM |
Saw Flamingo Road for the first time last night. Joan was magnificent as always and the movie was trashy fun.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | August 21, 2022 3:42 PM |
They should have shown Sudden Fear
by Anonymous | reply 47 | August 21, 2022 6:02 PM |
Browsing through IMDB I found a listing for a Crawford film called LETTY LYNTON that has been unavailable since 1936 due to a copyright infringement settlement - the script was very close to a play produced on Broadway and no credit was given, so the playwright sued successfully.
Anyway, Crawford must have pissed off someone in the MGM art department for them to come up with the poster at the link (and yes, it's genuine).
by Anonymous | reply 48 | August 21, 2022 7:13 PM |
"Flamingo Road?" She played a whore in that one--right? I'm sure it was one of her best, since no acting skill was required.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | August 21, 2022 7:15 PM |
"Letty Lynton" is available for viewing on certain bootleg sites. I've seen it a number of times. I wish more of her silents were still around.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | August 21, 2022 7:19 PM |
[quote] I wish more of her silents were still around.
So do all who watched her talkies.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | August 21, 2022 7:20 PM |
She plays what has to be one of the oldest cooch dancers ever in FLAMINGO ROAD.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | August 21, 2022 7:22 PM |
It was appropriate since she had an old cooch.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | August 21, 2022 7:28 PM |
I saw flamingo road about a decade ago for the first time. Make sure you watch it eating doughnuts and drinking iced coffee. That's what I was eating and drinking when I first saw it and now prefer to watch that movie with iced coffee and doughnuts, for memories sake. 🙃
by Anonymous | reply 54 | August 21, 2022 7:53 PM |
They never show Female on the Friggin' Beach
by Anonymous | reply 55 | August 21, 2022 8:28 PM |
It took all of 2 seconds to find out that that poster was not released in conjunction with the film, R48, and certainly not by MGM. There was no way in hell that the studio known for glamour would ever release a poster with one of their top stars at the time portrayed as some ghoul.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | August 21, 2022 8:40 PM |
Yeah, studios back than were very meticulous about how their Stars appeared in public and played a huge role in their public personsas.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | August 21, 2022 9:12 PM |
Was that poster for the US market, r48?
*
*the* dress
by Anonymous | reply 58 | August 21, 2022 11:58 PM |
That poster wasnt for any market, R58. It was made by a graphic artist for a local double feature. I read that on the internet.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | August 22, 2022 12:19 AM |
[quote]Saturday is Joan Crawford Day
As is everyday, my dear.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | August 22, 2022 12:30 AM |
Did anyone ever tell you that you look like Joan Crawford?
by Anonymous | reply 62 | August 22, 2022 6:13 PM |
R11 was Baby Jane arrested for the murder of Elvira?
by Anonymous | reply 64 | August 22, 2022 11:58 PM |
I've never seen "Possessed," just turned it on halfway through on TCM. Can't make head nor tail of the plot, but she is so beautiful in this one.
