I can't stop eating chimichiurri. It's so damn good.

It's good on eggs, sandwiches, any meats, as a salad dressing, a dip for veggies. A base for tuna salad. I can't get enough. Any chimichiurri tips or memories?

Can you just buy it?

Trader Joe's version is pretty good.

Did you prepare it yourself ?

by Anonymousreply 3August 17, 2022 4:26 AM

I make it myself. Purists say don't use a food processor, I say they are crazy,

I make it with parsley, olive oil, hot pepper flakes, and garlic. Whiz it up and its fantastic. I even froze some in muffin tins to make little circular portions to have with steak but also great with chicken or pork chops!

It is known as gremolade in Italy. Delicious!

My new favorite homemade condiment!

I can't stop singing Chim Chim Cheree.

I make it, using a hand blender. I think it's terrible if you don't blend the ingredients into an actual sauce. I have seen many where it's just an oil with herbs floating in it, and that's not very tasty.

I make it in batches, and then I put small tubs of it in the freezer, and one in the fridge.

I find my homemade version way better than store bought.

It's fairly simple to make, but your ratios and choices of ingredients will result in different flavor and consistency.

I typically put the following into my hand blender:

Salt, red onion, parsley, cilantro, garlic, Thai chili or jalapeno, red wine vinegar, olive oil, lemon juice.

Love a good chimichiurri.

Trader Joe's sells a meat marinaded in it that you cook and serve.

I've never found one that tastes as good as that one. Is their sauce as good as the one in the meat package, r2?

Chimichurri has to be fresh. Never bottled.

by Anonymousreply 13August 18, 2022 3:31 PM

Delish

by Anonymousreply 14August 18, 2022 3:35 PM

I added a little cilantro to today's batch and goddamn it was good

by Anonymousreply 15August 18, 2022 4:00 PM

Op, didn’t you hear? Recent studies show chimichiurri causes cancer. I hope you survive.

[R11] has the best list of ingredients.

by Anonymousreply 17August 18, 2022 5:33 PM

Is it different than persillade?

by Anonymousreply 18August 18, 2022 5:50 PM

I like it heavy on the chimmi and less on the churri.

by Anonymousreply 19August 18, 2022 5:56 PM

R6, gremolata is something different: lemon zest, parsley, garlic, S&P.

by Anonymousreply 20August 18, 2022 6:40 PM

It is delicious OP. It's the new pesto!

by Anonymousreply 21August 18, 2022 7:07 PM

chimichurri memories? Seriously, OP?

by Anonymousreply 22August 18, 2022 7:15 PM

Pesto is a paste made in a mortar and pestle with basil and cheese in it, chimichurri is an oil based condiment that never sees a mortar or blender.

by Anonymousreply 23August 18, 2022 10:44 PM

R23, wrong. You hand blend the chimi or else it's terrible.
