Dependence ratio. Did you know that there is as high a percentage of wage earners in j2019 as there was in 1947? Yes it's true the government supports more non-wage earners today v. what families used ot in 1947, but the actual proportion of wage earners did not decline in 70 years. Maybe it's been different since Covid, but for years conservatives have waxed hysterical on the idea that workers have to support more and more spongers, when it isn't true.

More old fewer young. More prisoners, fewer orphans and mental patients. More welfare recipients, fewer sick people. Yes the ratio of payors in social security to receivers has declined, but to the extent social security has a financial issue it's because RONALD REAGAN indexed it to inflation and attempts to make it need based have been resisted by republicans. It has never had an actuarial issues. Also the post office has not been a giant money pit either, another favorite conservative lie.

School choice has also led to an epidemic of violence in the inner cities as charter schools fracture school loyalties within the same community. This is the main reason for Chicago's higher murder rate. It has nothing to do with "drug gangs" as the promoters of school choice (like that DINO Rahm Emmanuel would have you believe).
