Sandy Hook lawyer is eviscerating Alex Jones on the stand

It is a thing of beauty.

I don't know if I dare hope that perjury is finally that thing that gets this abomination thrown in the jug

by Anonymousreply 1August 3, 2022 6:10 PM

Jones' lawyers fucked up and sent a copy of all of the texts from his phone to the opposing lawyers.

by Anonymousreply 2August 3, 2022 6:20 PM

For those of us who work for a living and don't have hours to peruse YouTube and Tiktok all day, care to summarize?

by Anonymousreply 3August 3, 2022 6:22 PM

Ben Collins:

Seen a lot of Law & Order, haven't seen a twist as good as "Alex Jones' lawyers accidentally sent Sandy Hook parents' lawyers the entire contents of his phone and his long-hidden financials, but they waited 12 days to let him lie" in my life. Just an absolutely wild day.

by Anonymousreply 4August 3, 2022 6:27 PM

The lawyer used clips from InfoWars to devastating effect, showing Jones was accusing the judge of being associated with child trafficikng and pedophilia, that the jury was made of up of people who "didn't live on this planet" and a bunch of times he lied. The lawyer nailed him on calling every mass shooting or tragedy a "red flag" operation, and listed more than half-a-dozen of the major shootings, the Boston bombings, etc. where Jones did the same thing he did about Sandy Hook.

Jones was reduced to a blithering mess, coughing uncontrollably, squirming, making bizarre facial expressions, and generally being exposed as the slime that he is.

by Anonymousreply 5August 3, 2022 6:35 PM

Is his lawyer inept, or spread thin? After being informed by opposing counsel they’d received the text, why did the lawyer do nothing?

by Anonymousreply 6August 3, 2022 6:36 PM

Texts and emails revealed that Jones' InfoWars made up to $800,000 a day grifting the rubes.

by Anonymousreply 7August 3, 2022 6:36 PM

Ladies and gentlemen: May I present to you Exhibit A in "The Dangers of Steroid and HGH abuse: Alex Jones."

by Anonymousreply 8August 3, 2022 6:37 PM

Depp's attorneys accidentally sent Heard's team all the texts, too, which is why we know about all his crazy violent racist shit, but they didn't keep Depp in the dark about it for days and let him lie about the texts before telling him what had happened. Jones' attorneys must either be astonishingly incompetent or terrified of Jones.

by Anonymousreply 9August 3, 2022 6:45 PM

I hope the person who “mistakenly” sent those files is given a great big raise. Or has another job lined up.

by Anonymousreply 10August 3, 2022 6:46 PM

I think his attorney probably has a shred of a moral conscience and wants this piece of shit in jail where he belongs and make him pay.

by Anonymousreply 11August 3, 2022 6:52 PM

When I worked in a law office an insider anonymously faxed us a copy of an incriminating correspondence. The other side said it was clearly work product and my boss said, “Well, I don’t know what it is. Are you saying this is indeed your client’s document? By objecting it’s privileged you’re acknowledging it’s his?”

The case settled so we never had to argue for admission at trial. But I was always proud of the fact I was the file clerk who rediscovered that old fax and said, “What about this?” Being a drama queen paid off :)

by Anonymousreply 12August 3, 2022 6:54 PM

R2, Oh dear!

by Anonymousreply 13August 3, 2022 6:57 PM

Well done, R12! Well done.

by Anonymousreply 14August 3, 2022 6:57 PM

Gross incompetence notwithstanding, how do you "accidently" send all text messages to the opposing lawyer? Let's face it - if you had any conscience *at all*, you wouldn't work for Jones in the first place.

by Anonymousreply 15August 3, 2022 6:59 PM

R6, he probably hates Alex Jones as much as the rest of us

by Anonymousreply 16August 3, 2022 6:59 PM

[quote]Gross incompetence notwithstanding, how do you "accidently" send all text messages to the opposing lawyer?

Can "gross incompetence" on the part of your lawyers be used as a basis for a mistrial request in a civil suit?

by Anonymousreply 17August 3, 2022 7:01 PM

When asked by a juror what compensation Jones considered appropriate, Jones tried to insist that anything over $2 million would close their doors.

The Sandy Hook lawyer closed his questioning by pointing out that Jones' lawyers said that compensation of $1 dollar was appropriate.

I wonder which will be closest to the actual award. I'm guessing it will be over $200 million.

by Anonymousreply 18August 3, 2022 7:02 PM

Here's the part of the questioning about the judge.

by Anonymousreply 20August 3, 2022 7:17 PM

[quote]When asked by a juror what compensation Jones considered appropriate, Jones tried to insist that anything over $2 million would close their doors.

I think the only fair compensation is for the judge to go all Shakespeare on Jones & demand a literal pound of flesh - to be extracted immediately and broadcast on the internet. I don't think any amount of money can realistically compensate what he's done to those people (gross I know, but if anyone deserves it, it's Jones)

by Anonymousreply 21August 3, 2022 7:20 PM

Rolling Stone: January 6th committee is planning to request Alex Jones' text messages and emails from the Sandy Hook attorneys after his lawyer accidentally sent years worth of comms to the plaintiffs.

by Anonymousreply 22August 3, 2022 7:30 PM

I love it, R22.

by Anonymousreply 23August 3, 2022 7:45 PM

by Anonymousreply 26August 3, 2022 8:54 PM

He included memes and taunts which were inserted into legal documents sent to Sandy Hook parents' attorneys, so it doesn't surprise me that he also included CP, thinking he was "owning" them. Now he's going to get prosecuted for possession of CP, the dumbass.

by Anonymousreply 27August 3, 2022 8:57 PM

Hold on, this CP was found on his servers back in 2019? Someone prosecute him, for crying out loud. If it were some Joe Blow nobody with CP on their servers, they'd be doing time by now.

The Sandy Hook parents were all prosperous, successful, wealthy people, all the things Jones and his band of basement dwelling incel listeners were not and all the things these bitter wretches despised. What better way to "own the libs" than to unmercifully attack them and attempt to belittle them at their greatest hour of grief by saying the whole sordid ordeal was a fraud.

Can you get any lower than this dirtball scumbag and his band of merry assholes?

by Anonymousreply 29August 3, 2022 9:09 PM

He whined piteously several times about not wanting to be the "Sandy Hook Guy" anymore. Not so fun when it's going to cost millions, eh?

by Anonymousreply 30August 3, 2022 9:22 PM

If Jones is anything it is prosperous, successful, and wealthy. Somebody should do a study of why his followers, along with those of Trump and other wealthy republicans, who have so little admire these people so deeply they would sacrifice everything including their own families for them. I try to rationalize it but I can't. And these people profit greatly from programs the democrats fight for and the repigs want to dismantle.

by Anonymousreply 35August 3, 2022 9:58 PM

Well I would hope but he will fight it for years. And how much does he have hidden that will be almost impossible to find?

by Anonymousreply 36August 3, 2022 9:59 PM

One cannot help to notice the similarities with the Trumpist playbook. One of Using their media megaphones positions to turn people against each other and to monetize and use for power. When is free speech a tool of abuse and when is it saying what you feel to be the truth. This is a question that is messy divisive and is once again time to address. Alas we have been here before The fairness doctrine was used in the past for similar reasons to prevent Alex Jones’s Trumps and Fox news’s from abusing their megaphone privileges.

The parents who testified said they held their son and described his head wounds. I’m genuinely curious as to how that happened? Morgues allow that?

by Anonymousreply 38August 3, 2022 10:14 PM

Hopefully his leaked documents include communications with his BFF, Marjorie Taylor Greene

by Anonymousreply 39August 3, 2022 10:20 PM

R17, no, that doesn’t apply in civil trials.

R38, why wouldn’t that have happened in a hospital? There wouldn’t be a law against it anyway.

by Anonymousreply 40August 3, 2022 10:21 PM

As hilarious as his lawyer's sending the texts to opposing counsel is, that alone could be grounds for appeal when he loses. I'm sure he would appeal anyway.

by Anonymousreply 41August 3, 2022 10:25 PM

Prison is too good for him. Shoot him and get it over with.

by Anonymousreply 42August 3, 2022 10:27 PM

Sounds like they're aiming for a mistrial, so when they go back to court tempers will have cooled.

by Anonymousreply 43August 3, 2022 10:29 PM

I would rather see him out of prison and forced to turn over 75% of all future earnings to the Sandy Hook families, in addition to the hopefully nine-figure settlement he's going to have to pay them outright.

by Anonymousreply 78August 4, 2022 10:27 AM

Would Jones want to forefront the phone evidence, given that it is absolute proof he committed perjury?

by Anonymousreply 79August 4, 2022 10:30 AM

I am confused about the CP. Did he send it to the Sandy Hook parents to try and set them up for having CP? How fucking stupid can one person be? That makes no sense at all.

by Anonymousreply 80August 4, 2022 10:39 AM

R80, the Sandy Hook lawyers issued a pre-trial discovery requests for all of Jones' text messages having to do with Sandy Hook. Jones said under oath that he searched his phone for Sandy Hook and didn't find any. Turns out he lied (shocking), he actually gave his entire cell phone over to his legal team, expecting them to do the search and to turn over any relevant texts. Instead of sending over just the texts they found, the lawyers sent over the entire contents of Jone's phone to the plaintiff's lawyers.

When the plaintiff's lawyers realized what they received, they contacted the defense lawyers to tell them they'd screwed up, giving the defense the chance to request the records back or at the very least claim that everything in there was attorney-client privileged so the plaintiff wouldn't be able to use it. The doofus defense lawyers didn't respond in the standard time allotted to reply, so the defense now has unrestricted use of all of that data.

by Anonymousreply 81August 4, 2022 10:56 AM

R81- Thanks. Unbelievable mistake for any attorney to make. Did his lawyers know about the CP? I still do not understand that.

by Anonymousreply 82August 4, 2022 11:07 AM

That’s A LOT of text msgs! A lot of e-mails too.

by Anonymousreply 83August 4, 2022 11:15 AM

R83- I think I read that they have three years of his phone contents and that is a man who loves to run his mouth. He is probably going to feel suicidal after the shock wears off, 😂.

by Anonymousreply 86August 4, 2022 11:33 AM

[quote]I was shocked to discover that he is only 48, the same age as me. He is one cheeseburger away from a heart attack.

He reminds me of Breitbart, who dropped dead not long after one of his spittle-flecked red-faced rampages, but Breitbart looked healthier than Jones does.

One of the points made in the old "Alex Jones is Bill Hicks with a new identity" conspiracy theory was that Jones "couldn't possibly be as young as he says he is." He's looked old for a while. Physicians often include "looks his/her stated age" or "older than" etc. in their medical notes for patients, so I have to assume that looking older than your age is an indicator of health concerns.

by Anonymousreply 87August 4, 2022 11:42 AM

R87- Reddit posted pictures of his different expressions during his cross examination and in all seriousness he looked as if he was going to go into cardiac arrest. He was in shock of course, but he knows he is in trouble now because of the CP and his involvement in the attempt to overthrow our democracy. I do not have the slightest drop of sympathy for a narcissist psychopath who terrorized parents who went through the ungodly pain of losing their child. That takes a sick, cold-blooded SOB to be so sadistic. He deserves to feel the same amount of pain that he has deliberately inflicted on others. When the mother of one victim was testifying he kept nodding his head no. I wanted to be able to reach through the screen and bludgeon him.

by Anonymousreply 92August 4, 2022 2:20 PM

The important question is: will any of this stop the idiots slapping InfoWars stickers on stop signs all over the country?

I’m kidding. Sandy Hook by itself was so horrific, and so traumatic. Alex Jones and his cadre of bullshit hucksters made it so much worse These parents deserve to revel in every bit of Alex Jones’ suffering. Hopefully it’s just the beginning of a long life of poverty, shame, eternal discomfort, and maybe eventually prison for Jones.

by Anonymousreply 93August 4, 2022 2:23 PM

"Hopefully it’s just the beginning of a long life of poverty, shame, eternal discomfort, and maybe eventually prison for Jones."

Even if he gets every penny sucked out of his bank account, he'll just bray and fulminate then start a GoFundMe that will replenish all that filthy lucre.

The only way this man disappears is either through cancer or a heart attack.

by Anonymousreply 94August 4, 2022 2:29 PM

That sad truth is that even if (god willing) Alex Jones died tomorrow, at least one person (and maybe more) would take his place. Alex is creep, but he clearly fills a need for the dim, broken and paranoid - and there seem to be more of them than we think. Like Trump, he's a symptom of the disease, not the disease itself.

Someone posted on another thread that conspiracy theories spring up when white people/kids get killed because people can't get their heads around that, whereas they expect black & brown people to be killed, so no conspiracy there! I don't know exactly what it is, but this conspiracy theory shit keeps getting worse rather than better

by Anonymousreply 95August 4, 2022 2:41 PM

Reuters: A Texas judge on Thursday denied Alex Jones's motion for a mistrial in a defamation case over the U.S. conspiracy theorist’s false claims about the Sandy Hook mass shooting.

The mistrial request came after it was disclosed at trial that Jones's lawyer accidentally sent two years of the U.S. conspiracy theorist's text messages to the plaintiffs.

I hope they use this same judge when Trump finally goes to court.

by Anonymousreply 125August 4, 2022 6:20 PM

Someone asked how this day fuck could make $800K a day - money laundering.

This is a LOT bigger than just Sandy Hook (peace to the children and their grieving families).

This is filthy money being laundered through these conspiracy bullshit “artists”, Russian propaganda being fed directly to mentally unstable white men (because that’s the majority of the fools who consume this fuckery) and encouragement to “take matters into your own hands”.

Sure, there are plenty of loons out there who are buying his stupid “supplements” and whatever else he’s peddling but it’s not $800k a day worth.

He’s laundering money for dirty Russian mobsters, spewing RT propaganda, plotting with pricks like Stone to overthrow the government and lord knows what else. I bet most of that is in the comms on his phone his lawyer turned over and is now the Golden Ticket that J6 and the DOJ want.

He is about to be dragged for the filth he his through numerous criminal trials and it will be delicious. IF the Russian mob doesn’t pink slip him first.

[quote]R123 All they had to do was to tell the Sandy Hook lawyers that all the other data they got was privileged and they wouldn't have been able to use it in court.

It’s not that easy. One side could argue it’s inadmissible but that doesn’t mean it is. The court decides if something’s privileged or not.

by Anonymousreply 127August 4, 2022 7:29 PM

Can they take this asshole's additional emails and send him to trial for other illegal litigation that was found on his phone, like the child pornography, money laundering and whatever else he was up to?

by Anonymousreply 128August 4, 2022 8:09 PM

Of course they can, r128

Whether or not they do remains to be seen

by Anonymousreply 132August 4, 2022 8:36 PM

Forget the civil trial (though I hope they get a billion). This dude needs a real trial with convictions and jail time. I believe he was working as an operative for the NRA. His relentless and vicious campaign was not just being a right-wing pundit. And he really put these families through hell, possibly endangering their lives.

And I think the mistrial plea was always going to happen if the trial wasn't going his way (which it isn't). I would love to see his face when he heard the Judge said no, but he wasn't in the room at the time.

by Anonymousreply 133August 4, 2022 8:53 PM

R130- I call bullshit on that. The FBI is corrupt, but also the way I understood it was AJ was trying to somehow send CP to SH victims and set them up to be caught with CP. Don't ask me how, idk, but that sounds just like something that repulsive POS would do. He encouraged his violent hillbilly redneck followers to harass and threaten those poor parents - for years. I think a fitting punishment would be him having boiling sugar water thrown in his face, then abject poverty.

R136, Texas civil trials have two phases, first they award actual damages and then compensatory damages. The first amount will be what the real amount the jury feels the plaintiffs have actually lost/will lose. The second phase (which requires still another set of hearings) is where the jury will award the "Teach him a lesson" punishment amount, which will almost certainly be substantially higher.

by Anonymousreply 138August 4, 2022 9:38 PM

The Austin jury must still decide how much the Infowars host must pay in punitive damages to Neil Heslin and Scarlett Lewis, whose son Jesse Lewis was among the 20 children and six educators who were killed in the 2012 attack in Newtown, Connecticut.

by Anonymousreply 175August 5, 2022 4:10 AM

R175, who isn't a carnival barker with that crowd? Trump, Bannon, Jones, Flynn, Stone, Guiliani, Manafort. All of those people are the "real patriots," meanwhile, that fat loudmouth --who really looks the picture of health-- is selling vitamins to a bunch of idiots, Bannon is getting caught on a Chinese billionaire's yacht having stolen "Build the Wall" money and Trump--who pardoned the thieves-- has made hundreds of millions off of those fucking rubes.

by Anonymousreply 180August 5, 2022 5:00 AM

R157 Well, what caused Alex Jones to become Alex Jones? I think he must be mentally ill, because I can’t believe someone would deliberately cause those families so much pain. Not that a wonky brain should spare him for punishment, he still made a choice.

by Anonymousreply 204August 5, 2022 1:36 PM

Being a right-wing pundit is a lucrative market. Just like being an influencer on social media, you shill for whatever product you are paid to shill.

Jones got the crazies by acting like a crazy piece of shit. All right-wing followers want is a "legitimate" justification for being racist pieces of shit. For them, Q-Anon conspiracies and Alex Jones are enough justification to hate and take action.

The GOP and the NRA benefitted hugely from Alex Jones calling shooting sprees false flag operations, because the right wing followers rather wanted to believe the lies than face the uncomfortable fact that their idols are ok with killing kids and innocent people as long the weapon industry is strong and making profits.

The (deliberate) spreading of misinformation has to be punished harder and more swiftly. Otherwise, someone else will take over for Alex Jones and nurture the right wing followers' desire for hating liberals instead of finding out that they are not the real enemy.

by Anonymousreply 205August 5, 2022 1:48 PM

If Trump did gut the IRS, then it would be the one good thing he did. If the Dems are in fact adding thousands and thousands of agents, it's to go after the middle class, because it's really important to go after someone who didn't declare $650 rather than the billionaires who pay less than shit.

by Anonymousreply 207August 5, 2022 2:23 PM

Trump gutted the IRS because he knew that after decades of being a grifter and tax evader he would be their biggest target.

by Anonymousreply 208August 5, 2022 2:53 PM

R187, according to my coworker who is a former state revenue officer, if someone has omitted 25% of their income to avoid paying taxes, the IRS can go back 10 years and examine your taxes.

If they find another 25% omission, that’s another 10 years of digging (IIRC). Not only that BUT the STATE is also going to want their share of that back taxes (although I’m not sure if Texas has income tax).

Any financial institutions he does business with in the US (possibly Europe) will comply with any court ordered asset seizure to pay back taxes or bankruptcy.

Of course, he could have plenty of bitcoin stashed away in the Cayman Islands or wherever scumbags hide their ill gotten gains.

If he’s using a bank in the US to process his “supplement” payments, that income will be forfeit to cover the bankruptcy, IIRC. It will be interesting to see just how much his “supplement” business drops off after the filing. His laundromat will have been shut down.

The Sandy Hook plaintiffs in this sure picked excellent attorneys - all very sharp, passionate, and devastatingly effective in summation. If you haven't watched both summations from today, you should when you get a chance.

Contrast this to Jone's sleazeball lawyer, who made a terrible summation that was interrupted numerous times by sustained objections from the plaintiff.

@r247, Yes, he'll be able to keep enough to live on as determined by the court, but every penny above that goes to the plaintiff

by Anonymousreply 250August 5, 2022 10:37 PM

In every picture of him in the court room I've seen, his eyes look very strange.

by Anonymousreply 251August 5, 2022 10:41 PM

I'm not joking when I say that to me, he looks like if constipation took human form.

by Anonymousreply 252August 5, 2022 10:59 PM

He looks like a human-hog hybrid.

by Anonymousreply 253August 5, 2022 11:15 PM

He’s an odd looking person. Like a badly inflated meat suit.

I swear, it wouldn’t shock me if he was an alien

I’m googling his height- it’s all over the place but it seems to be 5’5-6”.

[quote]R234 Someone upthread mentioned Jones is on his 11th attorney. What kind of representation can he find going forward for the rest of the lawsuits he faces?

I think it’s the lawyer in r119 who theorized the previous lawyers all dropped him because as they one by one became aware of all those texts and emails, they figured they could not defend him without providing them to opposing counsel. Maybe Mr. Jones wouldn’t approve handing over the data, and that’s where they parted ways.

Lawyers can fire a client for lying to them or not taking their advice.

by Anonymousreply 257August 6, 2022 1:04 AM

Why was Jones even allowed not to turn over texts?

All his money is hidden in offshore sites and foreign banks.

by Anonymousreply 260August 6, 2022 1:08 AM

Due to the adoption of anti-money laundering rules by numerous countries, it is much easier today to discover accounts hidden in shell companies in offshore tax havens.

by Anonymousreply 261August 6, 2022 1:26 AM

I was hoping for a much higher award. He'll earn back the $50 mil in a year.

by Anonymousreply 262August 6, 2022 1:29 AM

R262, again, keep in mind that he has lawsuits coming. He's going to be busy for years to come.

And he really must have morons listening to him. Forget being a fucking loser who buys into his conspiratorial bullshit, who the fuck buys vitamins from that tubby shit who looks 60 when he isn't even 50? How stupid must one be to buy his crap when you look at him?

by Anonymousreply 263August 6, 2022 1:35 AM

The award may be reduced--TX has caps on punitive damages.

by Anonymousreply 264August 6, 2022 1:35 AM

I think that's a proper amount. It leaves enough money in his coffers for all the others who'll sue him to get a piece of his pie.

by Anonymousreply 265August 6, 2022 1:36 AM

[quote] The award may be reduced--TX has caps on punitive damages.

So why not let the jury know the cap before hand and eliminate the foolishness of reducing it with further litigation? The legal system is so silly.

by Anonymousreply 266August 6, 2022 1:38 AM

This is the kind of stupid result "tort reform" gets us. The claim (and I don't agree with this) is that if juries know too much about the law beyond what they are required to determine, they will manipulate the result to get what they want. So if they know, for example, punitive damages are capped at a multiplier of compensatory damages, they will just up the compensatory damages to get the higher punitive amount.

The reality is we just don't want to let juries really punish the powerful.

by Anonymousreply 267August 6, 2022 1:53 AM

R266, if there is a cap, the verdict becomes symbolic - but that symbolism is still meaningful. This is the figure that will be associated with this case moving forward and sets a benchmark of precedence for other cases against Jones in other states.

by Anonymousreply 268August 6, 2022 2:18 AM

He should just settle out of court with everyone and move on.

Bonus: the NRA is now in shambles and running scared.

by Anonymousreply 269August 6, 2022 2:23 AM

R268, That's true. The story of the McDonald's hot coffee case is always about the jury award. No one remembers it was drastically reduced and then the case settled while pending appeal.

by Anonymousreply 270August 6, 2022 2:25 AM

There are "intimate texts" between Alex Jones and Roger Stone.

The mind reels.

by Anonymousreply 271August 6, 2022 2:26 AM

R271- Do go on, dear. I am damn near giddy just reading this.

by Anonymousreply 272August 6, 2022 2:34 AM

The McDonald's hot coffee case seemed like such a joke. But when you find out what happened and what the lady went through it's a very upsetting and sad story. There are youtube videos which give you a completely different view of the case and why the jury award was so large.

by Anonymousreply 273August 6, 2022 3:18 AM

R273-! Kramer sues Java World. This Seinfeld episode was based on that case.

by Anonymousreply 274August 6, 2022 4:03 AM

[quote]R258 Why was Jones even allowed not to turn over texts?

Jones claimed there were no texts or emails relevant to Sandy Hook. So his stance was there was nothing relevant in his communication to supply. You can’t just demand access to all of someone’s emails and texts. They supply what they say they have.

But then it becomes a different story when communication surfaces that someone like Mr. Jones claims never existed.

by Anonymousreply 275August 6, 2022 4:23 AM

What has Fox said about the trial?

by Anonymousreply 276August 6, 2022 8:41 AM

r276, that it's not about the real pressing issue that matters these days: Hunter Biden and his laptop.

by Anonymousreply 277August 6, 2022 9:01 AM

^ That Hunter Biden is behind the whole thing at Hillary Clinton's direction 🙄

by Anonymousreply 278August 6, 2022 9:03 AM

I'm sure there's already some Q-Anon conspiracy that Hunter Biden and Hillary Clinton teamed up and sent CP to Alex Jones as revenge for revealing their secrets (Hunter's laptop and Hillary's preference for babies as pizza topping). And the stupid idiots will believe it, because they want to further justify their hate for Liberals.

They also don't see: a crazy, disgusting, morbidly obese liar robbing them of their money. Instead, they see someone pulling back the curtain on "the elites", spreading "the truth" the MSM refuses to about the evil liberals others are too "afraid to" or because they are all beholden to Klaus Schwab/Killary Clinton/Name this week's Boogeyman.

These people are not the sharpest knives in the drawer. They will believe --and apparently buy-- anything.

by Anonymousreply 283August 6, 2022 9:47 AM

How do you manage to send a copy of all texts to the opposition? Just wondering if the lawyers did that on purpose 'ooops!' but then, that wouldn't reflect well on their professional reputation.

by Anonymousreply 284August 6, 2022 9:49 AM

Sue those lawyers

by Anonymousreply 285August 6, 2022 9:50 AM

by Anonymousreply 286August 6, 2022 9:57 AM

As I was watching the closing arguments live, the YouTube chat was full of angry Jones-supporting deranged loons. They're delusional. One kept insisting that they'd set up a GoFundMe for Alex to compensate him for any losses he would suffer.

by Anonymousreply 287August 6, 2022 10:01 AM

So Jones will probably end up shelling out in the cases to follow. I think suing these guys, like Jones or Trump, is the way to go. Money is the only currency they understand.

by Anonymousreply 288August 6, 2022 10:07 AM

His latest on his site is that he is victorious. They asked for 150m and he says the jury saw that he did the right thing and is being wrongly prosecuted so they only gave him the least amount they could. He said this at the 4mil state but Im sure will have a version of it for the next figure as well. He continues to broadcast and define this as no one has privacy. I see idiots on fb still defending him still thinking the victims are actors. We have become a more open society with fewer restrictions and as a gay man I have benefited but I wonder about the cost all the time.

Jones' lawyer didn't just send the data, they - after made aware of the fact - put their thumbs up their asses and let the time lapse where they could legally insist that none of the new evidence could be used in court. Either this is the most incompetent law firm (including having a toxic environment where interns and staff are too afraid to admit to their superiors that they've fucked up) or these guys hate their client so much, they set him up. I think someone from that law firm was negatively affected by one of Alex Jones' scams and sabotaged Alex's defense.

by Anonymousreply 291August 6, 2022 11:34 AM

I’m thinking Jones’ lawyer saw what was in those texts and decided so send it all to the Sandy Hook lawyers, not by accident, but purposely, to expose Jones as the criminal he is beyond just this case.

Jan. 6 and the DOJ will get a lot out of this information and heads will roll because of it.

by Anonymousreply 292August 6, 2022 11:43 AM

He should be jailed for perjury. That will shut him up.

Who should file that case? The parents? Their law firm? The court?

From r290-

Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones immediately took to the airwaves after the verdict in his defamation trial on Friday - Jones claimed the trial against him was 'coordinated and run' by billionaire philanthropist George Soros and 'operatives.' He did not identify the other 'operatives' by name.

The host also accused Judge Maya Guerra Gamble of being a 'blue-haired SJW' and insinuated that she was corrupt by saying that she 'altered the record of the trial.'

Jones alleged that Gamble turned off the livestream at certain points when his lawyer's were speaking in attempt to discredit him.

He went on to say that the judge was 'coordinating with the corporate media' who were present in the courtroom covering the trial.

The host also took aim at Neil Heslin and Scarlett Lewis' main lawyer, Mark Bankston, calling him an 'ambulance chaser.

by Anonymousreply 293August 6, 2022 11:52 AM

" He did not identify the other 'operatives' by name. "

Let me guess, Hunter and Hillary

by Anonymousreply 294August 6, 2022 12:01 PM

Of course that vile loser went on-air (and on-record) after he lost this trial! Trash like him can't ever accept that they've been caught, that they're not getting away with it this time, and that they actually have to face repurcussions.

I hope his doctor has to triple the dosage of his blood pressure meds that the fat fucker is taking --not the supplement bullshit he's selling to the suckers who eat the shit coming out of his huge, flabby ass but the big dog BP meds from BIG PHARMA-- and he endures the worst of their side effects.

by Anonymousreply 306August 6, 2022 2:20 PM

[quote]R300 Alex Jones must pay a Sandy Hook family $45.2 million and another family $4.1 million in damages.

I believe this is awarded to one set of parents.

Other parents have filed lawsuits that haven’t made it to court yet.

by Anonymousreply 307August 6, 2022 2:47 PM

Will any of the upcoming cases be tried in Connecticut?

I haven't followed the history of the parents' lawsuits. I wonder why they chose to file separately instead of banding together as a group.

Too bad Adam Lanza's mother isn't alive to be sued for purchasing the weapons for him.

by Anonymousreply 308August 6, 2022 3:00 PM

@r304, I agree, but to collect their judgement the plaintiffs will have to be very aggressive in discovering everything Jones owns. When they discover something they need to put a lien on it, so if he sells the money goes to them

by Anonymousreply 309August 6, 2022 3:14 PM

[quote]Will any of the upcoming cases be tried in Connecticut?

One will be.

[quote]How do you manage to send a copy of all texts to the opposition? Just wondering if the lawyers did that on purpose 'ooops!' but then, that wouldn't reflect well on their professional reputation.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it was a mistake by a paralegal. I've met some really incompetent ones who've sent the wrong info to clients.

by Anonymousreply 311August 6, 2022 5:17 PM

We all know where his money is. It's where it's safe from seizure these days.

by Anonymousreply 312August 6, 2022 5:23 PM

Well then, r311, that paralegal is a true American hero.

by Anonymousreply 313August 6, 2022 5:25 PM

R311, law firms often outsource document review. Documents can be electronically miscoded and produced by accident.

by Anonymousreply 314August 6, 2022 5:27 PM

[quote] Of course that vile loser went on-air (and on-record) after he lost this trial! Trash like him can't ever accept that they've been caught, that they're not getting away with it this time, and that they actually have to face repurcussions.

There's also a practical reason for this. He has to reach out to his followers to keep the grift going. He can't just let the media control the narrative when it comes to his followers. He has to tell them his version most of them, if not all, believe, and they keep sending him money.

by Anonymousreply 315August 6, 2022 5:28 PM

"Hey Vlad, here's some new money I've managed to grift from my dumb followers by telling them the crap you told me to tell them . . . please put it into my Russian piggybank. Lots of love, Alex"

by Anonymousreply 316August 6, 2022 5:30 PM

I really hope he keeps separating fools from their money.

by Anonymousreply 317August 6, 2022 5:50 PM

[quote]Documents can be electronically miscoded and produced by accident.

Which seems to be what happened in this case.

At that point, it is the responsibility of opposing counsel to advise the defendant's counsel that they have received documents that they believe were mistakenly produced.

Which is definitely what happened in this case.

Which places the onus on defense counsel to determine if the documents were indeed produced in error, in which event they can claw them back.

Which is definitely NOT what happened in this case.

Blame it on the paralegal if you want, but ultimately it is the fault of the attorney whose name appears as counsel.

by Anonymousreply 318August 6, 2022 8:01 PM

The other parents who have lawsuits coming up in Texas and Connecticut must be expecting a huge payout too.

by Anonymousreply 319August 6, 2022 11:40 PM

At this point Jones would be a fool not to settle with the remaining families. Not only because of the mountains of overwhelming evidence, but to save on his legal bills. How many more trials does he want to fund and sit through? What new humiliations might come up then?

I'm trying to fathom the amounts of money he's made. Is the $200K/day an average figure and $800K for peak crazy Qanon days? The clips I've seen of his show have really low production values so his overhead is minimal. I hope the IRS takes a look at his returns to see how they square with his income claims in texts and emails.

by Anonymousreply 320August 7, 2022 12:41 AM

"Hey Alex, don't worry, bro, I'll take care of your money. Meanwhile, keep up the good work. XOXO, Vladimir"

by Anonymousreply 321August 7, 2022 12:44 AM

He looked like an absolute fool on the stand. How are you not embarrassed if you're a fan of his? He's a fucking clown.

by Anonymousreply 322August 7, 2022 12:44 AM

R315- of course he can't allow his cult to become disillusioned with him. My God people will follow any ignorant racist POS now. What tf has happened to people? R309- How difficult is it to find someone's money/assets when they hide them?

by Anonymousreply 323August 7, 2022 1:31 AM

Greg Abbott who got $10 million when a tree branch fell on him while he was running through a ritzy Houston neighborhood in the middle of a storm. capped punitive damages when he became AG because why should anybody else get rich but him? by Anonymousreply 330August 7, 2022 2:16 PM

by Anonymousreply 331August 7, 2022 7:30 PM

R330, Jones and Infowars are based in Texas. However, there are lawsuits against him in Connecticut as well—plus additional lawsuits in Texas. He’s going to spend the rest of his life paying lawyers, at the very least.

by Anonymousreply 332August 7, 2022 9:29 PM

^ I'd rather he be paying the victims of Sandy Hook that he abused rather than lawyers

by Anonymousreply 333August 7, 2022 9:38 PM

Unfortunately it looks to me that the defendant may have grounds for a succession appeal. Even if it was his attorney who fucked up by missing the deadline to retrieve the records.

by Anonymousreply 334August 7, 2022 10:54 PM

Has his attorney, his attorney's family, and the people who just happen to work at his attorney's firm started getting death threats yet? Because that's how the trash MAGAts operate!

Threats to his attorney's wife/husband. Threats to the kids/kids school. Threats of destruction of property (home and business). Family? Elderly relations? Them too! Making (A)merica Great (Again, for scumbags!)

Trump's horrible person behavior as president on public display basically gave permission for the dregs of society to come to forward and act the same way. There is no bottom and there are no morals. All my life I remember when the president was supposed to be a role models and have ethics. Today absolutely nothing matters, it's as if there are no longer norms or standards. Even laws don't matter. Alex Jones was already a loose cannon before Trump became president. He went ballistic since then.

by Anonymousreply 338August 11, 2022 1:35 AM

r338, for the right wing, laws and rules only apply to their opposition. When the right-wing breaks laws and rules, it's either for the greater good or those darn Liberals did it first, or forced them to take righteous, but unlawful, action.

Unfortunately, any kind of progress comes with a great amount of pushback from the conservatives.

For eons, institutions like the Christian Church had most people under its thumb. Now that the mainstream mainly rejects religion, conservatives become more and more vicious and aggressive, because they are losing ground.

by Anonymousreply 339August 11, 2022 12:44 PM

That about sums it up, R339

by Anonymousreply 340August 11, 2022 3:15 PM

Before President Trump Jones was just one of the legion of Rush Limbaugh wannabes like Ann Coulter, Glenn Beck, Bill O’Reilly etc. But nobody could match Rush, he was the king for decades.

Then Donald arrived in the White House with his Paleolithic Borscht Belt insult comic routine, and not understanding the context but getting the idea that being a loud asshole dumping on everyone was now the way to go, you got the current legions of gobshites. Rush, finding himself obsolete, quietly crawled up his own ass and disappeared.
