Daley is right that Jamaica's anti gay laws are a result of the Empire - gay sex was made illegal in 1864 - but he removes the agency of elected Jamaican politicians who have not repealed the law in the 60 years of independence.

Huge reforms were made in the 1970 with land reform, electoral reform, women's rights, education and health reforms.

But no progress on gay rights. Both main parties leaders are opposed to same sex marriage and made that clear again recently.
