My mother was 100% Finnish (born in Minnesota to Finnish immigrants) and always looked neatly dressed even doing housework. Nylons and high heels whenever she left the house, including to the grocery store. Her weight never varied by so much as a pound--slim but curvy. She didn't speak Finnish although her older siblings did and were forbidden to do so in school back in the day.
