In light of the disaster today.. What country are you planning to move to?

We all know that America is a total shit show.. has been forever. We know gays are next.

by Anonymousreply 106June 29, 2022 1:19 AM

New Zealand

by Anonymousreply 1June 24, 2022 6:25 PM

I can't move. But if I could? Spain. My dream.

by Anonymousreply 2June 24, 2022 6:28 PM

canada!

by Anonymousreply 3June 24, 2022 6:35 PM

R3 Same. If they take away gay rights, I'm out!

by Anonymousreply 4June 24, 2022 6:36 PM

The problem is that NO ONE wants Americans, and can you blame them? We are doomed and we are fucked. It is that simple.

by Anonymousreply 5June 24, 2022 6:45 PM

I am staying and fighting. all these were won once and will be again. not today though, today I feel defeated.

by Anonymousreply 6June 24, 2022 6:46 PM

I can go anywhere in the EU 🥰

by Anonymousreply 7June 24, 2022 6:53 PM

It doesn't matter that no one wants Amrricans. You do the research and work the system to find a way in. There are many ways to do so.

by Anonymousreply 8June 24, 2022 7:16 PM

Portugal will be my gateway into the EU.

by Anonymousreply 9June 24, 2022 7:18 PM

I'm staying and resisting. With all my guns and ammo!

You'll have to pry his penis out of my cold, dead hands!

by Anonymousreply 10June 24, 2022 7:21 PM

Ireland

by Anonymousreply 11June 24, 2022 7:21 PM

Not another country, but I am definitely leaving the South. NY or CA here I come!

by Anonymousreply 12June 24, 2022 7:32 PM

I shall go to the Klingon home world- if you haven't noticed Klingon men are HOT.

by Anonymousreply 13June 24, 2022 7:38 PM

R12 Strategically speaking, your vote matters more in the South if we're to have any hope of pushing back on this Red minority takeover of America.

by Anonymousreply 14June 24, 2022 7:38 PM

[quote]NY or CA here I come!

Welcome, fellow gay! I’ll be at the Port Authority to welcome you.

by Anonymousreply 15June 24, 2022 7:42 PM

I’m going to Canada. I think those canooks will welcome me, they’re all nice.

by Anonymousreply 16June 24, 2022 7:44 PM

I'm British and willing to marry an American for certain... favours. 😁

by Anonymousreply 17June 24, 2022 7:45 PM

Nowhere, you're all being overdramatic queens.

by Anonymousreply 18June 24, 2022 7:45 PM

Good luck getting in to Canada.

by Anonymousreply 19June 24, 2022 7:47 PM

Netherlands.

by Anonymousreply 20June 24, 2022 7:47 PM

Spain or Portugal even if for only six months of the year.

by Anonymousreply 21June 24, 2022 7:49 PM

Avoid Alberta and most of Ontario, R16.

by Anonymousreply 22June 24, 2022 7:50 PM

Hooray R6, You rock. I'm in too.

by Anonymousreply 23June 24, 2022 7:51 PM

R4 "if" - stick around for a bit longer, there's no "if."

by Anonymousreply 24June 24, 2022 7:51 PM

We are all going to make the mythical move to Canada.

by Anonymousreply 25June 24, 2022 7:53 PM

None of you to Wales, if you don't mind. We like to have peace and quiet.

by Anonymousreply 26June 24, 2022 7:54 PM

R19: My company has 2 offices in Canada (and many other countries). Transfer - easy. I started planning the transfer if Dump stole the election. I will proceed if there is a national gay rights ban.

by Anonymousreply 27June 24, 2022 7:54 PM

Lol the EU, where you’ll have to sell your ass to afford heating in the winter due to imminent gas rationing? Where there’s no air conditioning anywhere except some airports and hospitals? The same EU that is about to let Ukraine and Moldova accede and officially kick off WWIII with Russia? Good luck with that…

by Anonymousreply 28June 24, 2022 8:03 PM

Not Holland, that’s for sure!

by Anonymousreply 29June 24, 2022 8:05 PM

What country would have me? I can tell you where I won't go, even as a tourist: Russia, China, Iran, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, North Korea, etc.

I wouldn't want to go where people will be instantly suspicious of me. or where capturing and jailing me would serve a foreign govt. I will avoid places that hate Catholics, places that hate bisexual women. These requirements narrows down my choices quite a bit.

Mexico or Scotland, I guess. For one, I'd need to learn some Spanish. That might be nice. Mexico is warm, which I'm used to. Plus, they're Christian mostly. Scotland will be cold and wet, but they speak English usually, even if their first language is Gaelic. Many Mexicans must know English, though. I wonder how much more affordable it'll be to live in Mexico than in Britain? There's a lot of Atheism in Britain. People laugh at people with faith. I"d have to brace for it. Ireland perhaps. It's cetrtainly a pretty place, Ireland. What kind of job could I get? Why pick a foreigner to hire when you could hire a native citizen of your own country? I don't have any friends in any of these places, no one to lean on if I need to.

I think I'l stay in the good ole US of A. For most of our history abortions were hard to get. Abortions on demand is strange and new to human history, not just here. Life should be hard to dispose of. Abortion should be a lsat resort, not a form of birth control. We'll have to rely on the old midwives system. They usually took care of abortions along with births, y'know. For almost all of human history, it's midwives we've turned to. Embryos aren't clumps of garbage inside us, like fresh shit in a rectum. No embryo, no fetus. No fetus, no baby. Babies aren't disposable here are they? It should be harder to end an inconvenient pregnancy. Many women have more than one abortion and that's not right. IF it isn't necessary for the mother, than once should be the limit. Mistakes should be learned from! Call me crazy, go on!

Use birth control like rubbers and the pill more responsibly, and an abortion or two or three won't be in your sights. Spermicide plus rubber--very effective to prevent pregnancy and sickness. Men should take more responsibility for what becomes of the seed they sow in girls and women. It's not fair how we have to be in charge of all of it. That's what I think. Just ignore me.

by Anonymousreply 30June 24, 2022 8:05 PM

Why no Muslim countries listed?

by Anonymousreply 31June 24, 2022 8:06 PM

Holy fuck, r30, get a blog.

by Anonymousreply 32June 24, 2022 8:19 PM

[quote]Good luck getting in to Canada.

by Anonymousreply 33June 24, 2022 8:19 PM

United States

by Anonymousreply 34June 24, 2022 8:34 PM

I moved to the Netherlands the day after the 2004 election. Smartest decision I ever made.

by Anonymousreply 35June 24, 2022 8:39 PM

Going to get. a German passport via Article 116. Don't want to live there of course but I can live anywhere in the EU.

by Anonymousreply 36June 24, 2022 8:41 PM

We’ll probably have you in the UK if you are white. We don’t seem to mind white migration, dark skin.. fuck off.

We are pretty atheist here to be fair.

by Anonymousreply 39June 24, 2022 10:27 PM

Illegal migrant, r39.

You’re in luck!

by Anonymousreply 40June 24, 2022 10:36 PM

R6 I’m with you. As much as I can’t stand it here (and I’m from TX so I get it doubly bad), I refuse to let them win.

by Anonymousreply 41June 24, 2022 10:39 PM

r18, obvious and redundant.

I'm thinking Panama. They have a good program for retirees, good health care, and non-stop flights all over the world.

Do you smell burnt toast, dear?

by Anonymousreply 45June 25, 2022 10:59 AM

Please, don't come here. American tourists are bad enough.

by Anonymousreply 46June 25, 2022 11:18 AM

R46. We are coming for you. And we may eat your pets.

by Anonymousreply 47June 25, 2022 12:18 PM

R45, it's Welsh and none of your concern

by Anonymousreply 48June 25, 2022 12:19 PM

Canada won’t be a viable option. Millions would potentially be fleeing for the border and the fact is Canada doesn’t have the money or the man power to protect millions of refugees. And frankly, I don’t want to be anywhere near America when things really go to shit.

When things start to looks really bad (Trump or DeSantis in office, gays and women legislated against, mass shootings of gays picking up,) sell what assets you have and go to Europe. Portugal and Spain are cheap and liberal. For the poorer among us claim refugee status, those with money buy into the country.

by Anonymousreply 49June 25, 2022 12:58 PM

I’m done fighting R6. It’s not my job. I’ve done it. Straight people can fix these problems.

by Anonymousreply 50June 25, 2022 1:01 PM

I understand r50 and I am not being judgemental or sarcastic when I say, I am still going to fight when they come for gays and lesbians.

by Anonymousreply 51June 25, 2022 1:53 PM

If you want to get to Canada, Australia, UK, etc get a nursing degree. There is a shortage of nurses in W Europe/Canada/Australia. You will be considered a high value immigrant.

The Philippines has been providing nurses to the US for decades. They get a green card and in 5 years can become citizens.

by Anonymousreply 52June 25, 2022 2:23 PM

If your job is on this list, you have a very good chance of coming here. If you happen to fall in love with a Brit, there's a good chance you can become a citizen.

by Anonymousreply 55June 25, 2022 4:27 PM

Somewhere they speak English.

I’m too old to learn another language.

by Anonymousreply 56June 25, 2022 4:40 PM

R53, thanks for that list.

by Anonymousreply 57June 25, 2022 5:27 PM

I already did it, 20 years ago, after the "9/11 New York City World Trade Center Incident" .

My choice was Mexico.

Advice:

1. Choose inland Central Mexico, for the climate. Puerto Vallarta is all fine and dandy until the heat and humidity turn it into a big drag.

2. Yes, you can collect Social Security, but don't have it deposited in a foreign bank. Maintain a USA address and bank and have it deposited there. Use ATM machines in Mexico for access to your funds.

3. Use the same address for a USA driver's license (as in #2, above).

4. You can live on very little. I am currently spending less on rent, for a house, than I spent on rent for a room in 1970. My advice would be to stay away from buying Mexican real estate. It is NOT a bargain.

5. Own a car, and a utility trailer, and move as much stuff as possible to Mexico, or otherwise you will be nickled and dimed to death, buying household stuff.

6. Do your shopping on Amazon (both USA and Mexico) for the things that are not available in a third world country.

I could go on and on, but just don't have the time.

by Anonymousreply 58June 25, 2022 6:05 PM

R58, how would you maintain a USA address? PO box or like those in the UPS store where you have an address?

by Anonymousreply 59June 25, 2022 6:12 PM

I am a lawyer in the USA. I want to leave but there are no jobs for me elsewhere.

by Anonymousreply 60June 25, 2022 6:35 PM

Canada

by Anonymousreply 61June 25, 2022 8:10 PM

Looking at that list of UK jobs is confusing: so they really pay veterinarians £12ish per hour?

by Anonymousreply 62June 25, 2022 10:58 PM

Fortunately I got my Canadian Citizenship last year.

by Anonymousreply 63June 25, 2022 11:00 PM

The suggestion of nurse training is a great one. NZ is desperate for nurses right now and we will take you in a heartbeat.

by Anonymousreply 64June 25, 2022 11:49 PM

Yeah, anyone who uses a phrase like "the good ole US of A" should probably stay there.

by Anonymousreply 65June 26, 2022 12:10 AM

How very American of us to ruin our own country and just think we can be welcomed to colonize other areas with open arms. Very on-point.

by Anonymousreply 66June 26, 2022 12:21 AM

Holland isn’t a country R29.

by Anonymousreply 67June 26, 2022 12:28 AM

by Anonymousreply 68June 26, 2022 1:01 AM

There's a reason for that, r64

I’ll move if same sex marriage is overturned and sodomy laws are reinstated. Guaranteed. Baja California.

My lesbian neighbors anticipated all this and have moved to a coastal Mexican town and have never been happier. Social security right on time.

When Trump was elected my sister got her kids Australian passports (their dad’s an Aussie). She’s gonna leave me behind and I’m gonna be stuck here. 😒

by Anonymousreply 76June 26, 2022 5:16 AM

We already own a house in Canada and emigration is largely a matter of money. If you have it you can go where you please. If you don't have it I'm afraid you're stuck here duke-ing it out with the Lame Boys and Klansman currently riding high.

I live in California so it will take a while before they can turn it into a right wing hellhole like those godforsaken red states. In the meantime, I'll spend lot of time up North in Canada and put some more work into the property there.

by Anonymousreply 77June 26, 2022 5:18 AM

Try the Ukraine our President has given them $55Billion

by Anonymousreply 78June 26, 2022 5:21 AM

I feel pretty chill in Massachusetts. We’re not getting rid of abortion or same sex marriage.

Our gun laws might change but I don’t know how bad that would effect us because there’s no gun culture and those who practice it go to New Hampshire. No one is interested in living like the Wild West or Rambo up here.

by Anonymousreply 79June 26, 2022 5:45 AM

Ireland or Spain, I have an EU passport.

r30 You are worried about anti-Catholic bigotry while the insane Catholic religious fanatics on the Supreme Court are turning the United States into a theocracy. You can't possibly be that stupid, can you?

by Anonymousreply 83June 26, 2022 6:46 AM

My life was going down the shitter in 2014. Extremely fortunate, I bought my ticket out. Little did I know the country would go down the shitter as well. People asked me for a while if I was considering moving back. Haven't been asked that in a while ...

by Anonymousreply 84June 26, 2022 6:51 AM

Thank you R51.

by Anonymousreply 85June 26, 2022 11:52 AM

I just moved here in an effort to protect myself and my husband, both climate-wise and politically, R79. It’s very liberal where I am. Probably one of the most liberal spots in the country. But the state is small. If the shit really hits the fan, can it protect itself? Can New England band together? I really hope so.

by Anonymousreply 86June 26, 2022 11:55 AM

The main drawback for Canada is, of course, the cold. But except for that, sure! Australia and/or New Zealand might also be a good choice but it will take a lot of time and paper work to get in there. But if you're of superior character - and wanting to get out of the U.S. would mean you are - they will admit you.
