Mark Cuban's Online Pharmacy
Apparently, Mark Cuban is trying to tackle drug costs by building a drug manufacturing plant to make genetics and sell at 15% above cost.
In the meantime, the website of the Cost Plus Drug Company is already selling some meds. Could be an amazing game changer. Not sure how long it would take to get to the scale that it can serve millions of patients.
Has anyone tried it?

He's likely got a run for the presidency in mind at some point so this is going to ultimately turn out to be self-serving. I'm not a big Mark Cuban fan in general. But, objectively, this is going to save lives and he should be commended for it. At least someone with the means is doing something.

I have met him many times. I lived on the same street as him. He is really down to earth, very kind, and his kids are extremely well behaved. He had them outside selling lemon-aid when they asked for money. When he had loud parties, he invites all the neighbors as a courtesy. He is always trying to help the community out in Dallas where he can.

I'm a little unclear on how this is supposed to significantly help reduce drug prices.
Generic drugs aren't the problem. Brand-name drugs and drug patent law is.
Also, if this were out of the goodness of his own heart, it would be a not-for-profit operation. If this is for-profit and has shareholders, then they'll be legally obligated to the shareholders to rip-off consumers just as much as other drug companies do.
Sounds like capitalist bullshit to me.

I guess he can bring down prices for generics too but producing them in-house.
Sadly no Truvada yet

He's got more money than he and his next 10 generations of family members can ever spend but he's still doing this for a profit.

Cuban is a Democrat. Maybe the Dems should look to someone like him to run in 2024.

He's not a Democrat; he's a Republican Never-Trumper.

He is pro-choice and Jewish and sane, so probably doesn't stand a chance as a Republican presidential candidate.

15% above cost seems pretty minimal when you consider wha the margins are on non-generic drugs.
Good job by Cubes.

He’s eliminating the pharmacy managers, who add a ridiculous amount to drug costs.

He is a Libertarian but supported Hillary in 2016. He was going to run third party in 2020 but realized he wouldn’t’t win and hurt Biden.
