Brexit was the best thing for EU in the long haul. They will be rid of the appalling English.

Britain is cheating again. Sneaking in a do-over after they fuck up with their own people. In the meantime, one only feels sorry for the Irish, and the Scots and the Welsh as well.

It's sadly true.

I abandoned London for Edinburgh in 2016. Not regretted for a single second, and hoping Scotland manages to get independence before we get totally dragged down by the insanity over the border.

They're exploiting the goodwill they have after helping Ukraine, thinking (a now weakened) Biden won't get pissed if they ram this through. Of course, the courts won't care and they'll lose when this is decided years from now. The hit to their reputation will be the real damage, however. You don't just change parts of an international treaty just because you feel like it.

Stagflation nation and now this. The UK really is fucked short- to medium term. And yet they'll keep electing the cons...

Oh hun I'm guessing you didn't watch Nicola Sturgeon's comedy performance today announcing her new referendum plan.

Appalling public transport, appalling education, appalling health systems, appalling social services, no economic policy on the currency or trade, and no coherent defence policy. A government which covers up sexual harassment and bullying and responds to independent audit reports criticising it by proposing to cut the audit office's budget.

BUT INDEPENDENCE!!!!!!

People who think Scottish independence is the answer think themselves so superior to the Brexiteers who blamed all their failings on the European Union. They're just the same cheeks on a flabby arse which needs a good wipe clean.

Boris' plan won't happen. The US (and Speaker Pelosi and all those Harps in Congress) are committed to the peace accords in Northern Ireland. Joe Biden is Irish (and no particular friend of Boris,) too. Fuck with the protocols and the UK doesn't get a trade deal with the US.

"The US House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, has warned that unilateral UK legislation affecting the Northern Ireland protocol could endanger British prospects for a free trade deal with the US.

Pelosi’s bluntly worded intervention came two days after the UK foreign secretary, Liz Truss, confirmed that the government was planning to table legislation that would nullify parts of the protocol by exempting some goods moving between Great Britain and Ireland from EU customs checks.

Pelosi made clear that she viewed the protocol as essential to maintaining the 1998 Good Friday peace agreement which minimised border controls between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland."

We don't?

“I thought we would be like … ‘here we go, here we go. We are going to become the most competitive country in Europe and we are going to be encouraging business.’ Now I think: ‘What have we done?’”.

It is the EU who would establish a hard border in response, out of their irrational fear of British goods entering the EU unchecked. The EU will claim that the UK “made” them do it, but it will be the EU’s decision to put in customs and border control, creating the hard border. Unchecked British goods entering RoI or transported through Ireland to the European mainland are not going to have a significant effect.
