Newscasters shouldn't have speech impediments
I was changing channels (eldergay) and stopped by Michael Strahan talking about the most recent school shooting; It sounded like a cartoon character reading the news and lacked the gravitas such a news story should have.
A lisp is all right for entertainment news and gossip, but I prefer a sonorous voice for serious news, not Cindy Brady.

There are a million things wrong with that gap-toothed motherfucker. He never should have been on fucking TV. Being black in a woke society is good for all the talentless blacks like Strahan.

R1, I kinda get what yall saying but Michael Strahan is wildly popular with audiences. Flyover loves him. Networks and ratings don't care about wokeness.

An infrequent announcer on my local classical radio station sounds like a chicken squawking when she talks. She used to be on the air a lot more than she is now, so I know they get it, but last Sunday night they let her on again, and it just ruins the mood. I'm not saying 'fire her,' but couldn't you please make sure she never gets in front of a mic again.

Not a newscaster, but a host, Jenna Bush Hager on the Today Show. Ugh, why does she sound like she’s wearing a retainer? She also sounds like she’s one or two seconds away from crying most days.

TV shows, most movies, commercials are like 80% black, moron. That is woke society in action. The new Obiwan Kenobi series has, get this, a black twat as the new villain who fights Obiwan. Woke! Motherfuckers. This black twat will be more powerful than Darth Vader, guaranteed.

Don't watch Lester Holt's tongue as he reads the news. You can't unsee it.

Stop with your ableist nonsense.
If we can have fat fashion models and men can have periods, a speech impediment for someone whose job it is to speak and communicate clearly is obviously not a problem.

Neil Nunes (originally from Jamaica) sounds like he's had a slight stroke whenever he reads the news headlines for the BBC World Service.

Elocution is nowadays frowned upon, since it has an air of elitism and condescension. Personally, I think clear and proper speech sounds nice and engaging.

I also think newscasters should not be ugly. I can't turn the channel fast enough when Yasmin Vossoughian comes on.

Lester Holt has greatly improved. I remember when he first joined MSNBC decades ago, and the man could only talk out of one side of his mouth.

Spectrum Cable’s news channel is notorious for this- bizarre speech cadences and rampant up-speak.
They must have blown their hiring budget on the special blurry-halo filter for Gisele Fernandez.

It's harsh but it's true. People who are paid to speak on television should get any impediments fixed.

I'd rather hear someone with the speech impediment than a 20-something vocal fried blonde airhead reciting the news. Fry is a choice.

r21 I don't like that either, although I can't think of any current anchors who fit that description.

I JUST got done completing a mandatory diversity training module for work. There was a section about people with speech impediments. I always thought they were fair game.

I have been unable to watch Michael Strahan since his Regis days because of his wicked lisp. He makes millions. He needs to get that shit fixed.
