As a sixth grader I was so fucking in love with "Chubby" the lead singer and his dorky glasses. He was so cute. And "Tiny" the second lead. So handsome!
The Tavares brothers and their tight tight pants. THIS is why the 1970's were the best!

Love them!

Great group. Love all their stuff.
Which one married Mary Wilson?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | May 18, 2022 1:24 AM |
This was a good song. Reminds me of "Backstabbers."

Meaty thighs.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | May 18, 2022 1:26 AM |
Were they all really brothers?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | May 18, 2022 1:27 AM |
sexy!
by Anonymous | reply 6 | May 18, 2022 1:27 AM |
OMG. Where to begin with the total greatness. The music so damn tight. The dance moves, epic. Love the outfits, check out the cutout back to the jacket when they do the spin. The tight, but tasteful ,no need to be gross we all knew there was major meat in there ,pants. with side shiny cutouts. Those righteous fros. Greatness.
Thanks for the throwback. How great was the 'train'.

Lol this made me smile. If I were to pick a (pre-)disco daddy, early Teddy P could’ve given it to me nightly.
Love some Ojays too, R3.

One of my friends was a longtime Soul Train dancer in the 1970's and said 90% of the male dancers were gay. NO ONE told Don.

Tavares - She's gone
1973 before H&O
Big R&B hit but not so much outside of it.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 18, 2022 1:36 AM |
This is fucking scraping the bottom of the barrel. Like OP was even alive when this dino band was relevant.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | May 18, 2022 1:40 AM |
How great was this music? 70's were tough & gritty for sure, but if you were cute, clever & or creative you could make a go of it. Well, at least I did & so did some of my friends.
Soul Train Don Cornelius was a genius. Don't care if he was a creep or whatever. He gave millions of us so much joy. It so saddened me to hear he committed suicide. I know all the religious shit about suicide. I think God said, its OK Don, come on home, I got a special crown for you for all the joy you gave to others.

Loved this song and again their tight Matador like outfits. I totally remember this. I had the Sky High album. Played it all the time.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 18, 2022 1:43 AM |
R13 Fuck off, Janbot. WE all know your psychotic rambling at this point.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | May 18, 2022 1:44 AM |
That song blows. Not the best example of disco music, which had a lot of great songs.

[Quote] Not the best example of disco music
It was #1 r&b and #2 dance song. If was fine. It sends its love, hon.

r18 it sucked. Much better disco songs out there.

I love "Whodunit." Chubby and Tiny are my favorite members. Chubby always looked good in those tight pants, and Tiny was just a cutie pie.

Oh, my goodness! The pants! 😍
I immediately thought Denny Terrio when I saw Taveres. What was that dance contest show he hosted in the '70s? Or am I imagining it? It used to be on during the weekends before the local news. I think the Gong Show may have been paired for the hour.

What a shit group Tavares was. This was why people said "Disco sucks."
by Anonymous | reply 23 | May 18, 2022 2:25 AM |
This photo was from 2015, so they would’ve been 80ish…? Butch was still looking damn fine (second from left).
by Anonymous | reply 25 | May 18, 2022 2:26 AM |
Yes, R25, he was.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | May 18, 2022 2:29 AM |
R22, I had the biggest crush on Denny Terrio as a youngster when he did Solid Gold. How on earth is he straight? I always assumed that he was gay, until I read this article today. He taught John Travolta to dance for Saturday Night Fever.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | May 18, 2022 2:33 AM |
My bad, I meant Dance Fever. Solid Gold was the one with Marilyn Mccoo.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | May 18, 2022 3:07 AM |
I already had r13 blocked.

It says on Wikipedia that Joey Kramer of Aerosmith was once their drummer. I’ve found by doing research that the music business was very incestuous so to speak. Like someone from Spandau Ballet played with Deep Purple, as a fictitious example.

Tavares!
"Don't Take Away the Music", oh that sends me back to ninth grade, so much incredible music.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | May 18, 2022 4:10 AM |
R16 is Janbot and OP. Sure cunt. EVERYONE else is Janbot.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | May 18, 2022 5:02 AM |
She should never have been paired with John. She’s a terrible dancer and an ok actress. He was so much better than that.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | May 18, 2022 5:17 AM |
I enjoyed their nicknames 'Butch' and 'Chubby'. But why was 'Tiny' called tiny?
by Anonymous | reply 36 | May 18, 2022 5:32 AM |
I really don't care about his craziness, in closet, Scientology, beards...When I see Johnny in that white suit w. that Pompadour on the dance floor, all is forgiven. He sends me!!
