My babies! Somenody stole BOTH my babies!
by Anonymous | reply 10 | May 17, 2022 1:12 AM |
Lindbergh was such a total asshole. I always believed the theory that he took the kid himself to play a mean joke on his wife, dropped the kid, killed him and then let an innocent man die for it.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 17, 2022 1:14 AM |
I don’t think Bruno Hauptmann killed him. When I was younger I read several books on this. Many other suspects, one of them was I believe Lindbergh’s sister who had mental problems. OP, you must be watching the History channel…I saw that and thought about DVR’ing it

For decades Lindbergh was hailed as one of the greatest American heroes of the early 20th century, but in reality he was a monster. It is highly likely that he was directly responsible for the death of his own son.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | May 17, 2022 1:37 AM |
It wouldn’t surprise me if Hauptmann was guilty, but the investigation and trial were so mishandled that it’s impossible to be sure.

I read Gay poet James Merrill’s collected letters and he grew up haunted by this and in fear of being kidnapped as a child. His father was one of the Merrill Lynch founders and they were filthy rich. I think some of his poems make reference to it.

Listen, it happens.
Now who would like to see the Pageant Room?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | May 17, 2022 1:46 AM |
The Lindbergh baby was found inside Cheryl's pussy.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | May 17, 2022 1:46 AM |
My mom was convinced the baby was mentally challenged and that Lindberg killed it.
Didn't Bruno's wife recently die? Or has covid completely thrown off my timeline?

Anne Morrow's sister was rumored to be in love with Lindbergh and was considered as possibly being involved in the kidnapping.

Didn't realize Lindbergh had so many out-of-wedlock babies:
American aviator Charles Lindbergh had three German mistresses simultaneously and seven secret children whom he visited and supported for decades, according to a new book published yesterday.
Eighteen months after genetic tests proved earlier claims by three Germans that Lindbergh was their father, their book, The Double Life of Charles A Lindbergh, says he fathered two more children with their aunt and two with his German secretary.
Lindbergh married Anne Morrow in 1929 and they had six children. In 1932, their first-born baby son was kidnapped and murdered.

Willie Nelson is the Lindbergh baby.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | May 17, 2022 2:26 AM |
He probably had even more kids. Easy to do back then. But he'd probably be mortified to realize that DNA would expose him this way and it would become part of his biography.

R25 Lindbergh's son Jon, the diver, died last year.

He had his own whole lebensborn program going on, Lindbergh ever the good Nazi.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | May 17, 2022 3:29 AM |
Hauptman totally did it. He probably dropped the baby as he was climbing out the window with him, or killed him in another sort of accident. Everyone who says he didn't kidnap the kid is either trying to sell a book or is just against the death penalty.

An inspiring infant!
by Anonymous | reply 39 | May 17, 2022 3:54 AM |
r38 no he didn't. The original charge was correct.
The late, great American writer Noel Behn wrote an interesting book on it. His theory was r12 s, i.e. it was the mentally disturbed aunt. The staff had allegedly been ordered never to leave the aunt alone w/the baby. One staff member committed suicide after the incident, and being questioned by police. Allegedly over guilt at having failed to keep watch. The whole thing was a cover-up orchestrated by Lindbergh to avoid scandal.

Was the aunt supposed to have used the ladder?

R38 It's part of a widespread trend of revisiting cases where the culprit was found and rightly convicted and pretending that the case was botched.

R44, there's no doubt that Hauptmann was involved in the kidnapping: he had some of the ransom money and, when he realized that he was under police surveillance, tried to flee. There are questions about the rest of the evidence against him. The only eyewitness, the man involved in the payoff, initially said that Hauptmann was not the man to whom he'd given the ransom money. The witness changed his mind by the time of the trial, which is usually the sign of an unreliable identification. The whole thing was a big mess.

It's weird that Lindbergh was a white supremacist and Nazi Sympathizer who supported eugenics

I think most babies look like Winston Churchill n the face.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | May 17, 2022 11:53 PM |
I grew up very close to the house. It is in a heavily wooded area on a mountain range, (yes for New Jersey it's a mountain), and it is sparsely populated. Just look up Lindberg Road in New Jersey to see.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | May 18, 2022 1:11 AM |
Please, everyone. Don't try to follow R54's directions for "Lindberg" Road. You'll end up in Pixley.
Oh, dear.
SO knowledgable about the case.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | May 18, 2022 1:15 AM |
Since you're talking about the baby,
here's the baby.
Careful. It's bad.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | May 18, 2022 1:18 AM |
It does seem odd that the baby - his first born son and namesake - was cremated and its ashes were scattered in the Atlantic Ocean.
I wonder if that is really what the baby's mother wanted.
Meanwhile, Lindbergh chose to have a burial and gravesite for himself.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | May 18, 2022 1:26 AM |
Since all I know about the case comes from a 1976 made for TV movie I watched as a kid, I’m pretty sure Anthony Hopkins did it.
