I walked right by him this past Saturday as he and a male friend/colleague were eating outside at Paladar, a King of Prussia restaurant. I will admit I did a double take. I wondered why he was out here in the Phila burbs. But it was him for sure and he was pretty aware that others recognized him.

Sims' publicist or campaign manager must no longer troll here. Every time I'd bring up that I thought his stunts were merely that and not anything to do with his job, I'd get hollered at with lines like: "YOU CLOSET CASES CAN'T STAND TO HAVE AN OUT GAY MAN IN POLITICS!!!!!"

Sims may be a smash hit in Ptown and his tiny slice of Philly, but this election shows one thing: Sims is a complete non-entity on the PA political scene, and even less of a presence on the national scene.

And there are gay politicians who could be a force to reckon with. But Sims isn't among those either.

I'm not in his district, so I'm just typing my own thoughts and impressions here. When Sims came on the scene though (as it appeared to us gays in Mass. and beyond) he was a VERY faceable, handsome, smiley 'Mo. Yes... lots of emphasis there on the shallow exterior. But he won, so we all assumed he had some chops to him... and WANTED him to have chops, because who WOULDN'T want a hot, gay, capable, politician representing us all in one way or another?

So I give a lot of credit to his constituents in calling him out on his failings. Mind you, he's no RollerNazi, but perhaps comparatively so, he is, because he could have done so much more. To be honest, it was here on DL that I first heard/cared-to-notice he was less than the man I hoped he would be.

Sadly, Sims has a big reputation as a stunt queen. Any promise he once had has been burned out.

This week, PA lost someone who had worked for decades for his constituents. He was a gay man at a time where posing in a tank top for an Instagram post wasn't an option. He may not have had men drooling over him, but this guy (Jim Ferlo) worked hard for his constituents, gay and straight alike, for many years, helping them navigate the ins and outs of getting help. Often that meant working with people from the other party. You can't ignore or scream at the people who hold an opinion you don't like.

Many of Brian's constituents lost good paying jobs and while Brian (or anyone else) couldn't do anything to prevent the job losses, he certainly didn't make it easier for any of them either.
