I have watched this show since I was a youngster in the 70's. It has continued to go downhill, not matter what.

Their attempts to get us interested in Ben and Ciara has become laughable. I fast forward past most of their scenes. In addition, Rafe and Nicole are horrible together or apart. Both need to leave, as do Brady and Chloe. The pairings on this show have a certain desperation to them. Part of that is due to the small cast. How many kidnappings can we have, not to mention the insane masks and the never-ending possession storyline? What started out as interesting, has gone on and on and on.

The writers have lost any credibility by rehashing the same tired plotlines.

John's gay son Paul is never even mentioned anymore and clearly Leo and Craig will not have a happy ending, much to my chagrin.

Ron is not perfect, but at this point in the game, no one is. He does what he needs to do given Days' budget issues and more or less makes it work. The thing I have always appreciated about Ron is that he loves soap opera. He never treats soap opera as beneath him, like a lot of writers do - who are always trying to "elevate" the genre into something that it isn't.

Jamey is fine too. He loves soap opera and gets the show. Those who criticize Jamey are upset that a former soap blogger and podcaster is actually living out his dream. Nothing pisses people off more than success.

Jamey has not had success. His own show was quickly cancelled and he writes for a show that is last in the ratings. That is not success.

I don't think his show did well because I think he ladled too much of that energy on.....if everything someone says sounds like a verbal slap, that gets repetitive. You have to build to that energy, where the mean line or the slap is earned.

But most writers, be they head writers or staff writers, are blamed for a lot that is well outside their responsibility, and then they just become a figurehead to direct frustration and anger at. In the last 20-25 years, the network tells writers what they need (a big explosion, etc.) and the writers have to make it happen. Some were good at it, some have been truly terrible (Dena Higley comes to mind) but most are in the middle.

The writing on DOOL for a period was really good. I don't think it is anywhere near as good as it used to be. The humor is just off now.

Friday's episode has Supernatural vibes! Marlena and Susan are god-fearing harpies! Hell has a great gym! LOOL Dr. Tripp's scene sets him up for his great "fall" next week. Should have stayed mad at Allie.

They are NOT going to kill off the hot Dr. Tripp. No way. Though before the devil departs for Hades, he should mess around with Johnny.

The Devil should put Dr. Tripp in a jock strap ... and a sling.

I'm starting to think the whole devil storyline never happened and it will turn out it with either Will and/or Johnny's scripted version of the events, just like they did in "A Very Salem Christmas". Everything that happened were a story Will wrote.

Dr. Tripp was looking smoking hot on his deathbed but while I was ogling his shoulders, I noticed the actor's stomach moving up and down a few times.
