Many have stories of their awful parents, but how about those of you who actually had nice ones? Tell us how your childhood was growing up with them, and how it influenced how you turned out as adults.

I had wonderful parents. They were pretty old to start a family, my Dad was 50 and my Mom was 33 when I was born. They were financially secure and mature and they wanted to be parents. I moved away after college but flew home 2 - 3 times a year. I feel a lot of guilt for not taking a leave of absence to help my Mom care for my Dad. He died when he was 96.

My parents were older and I was an only child. They were wonderful to me and pretty much everyone else, although my mother avoided gossipy nasty people like the plague. After they both died, I found out how generous they had been to various families who fell on hard times.
