what actually makes me uncomfortable is that it looks like pete was the one who chose the name of the twins. Joseph after his own dad and Penelope is the name of the last chapter of Ulysses, pete’s favorite book. there is no way pete gets a divorce ever. if he had marketed himself different, maybe but no in this universe. Just look at Sen. Nobody acts like a 1950s housewife. Public figures cultivate an image for an audience especially politicians. Buttigeig is sadly in a difficult position, he has to appeal nonthreatening to the homophobic moralizing small town conservative base who think in binary, outdated, heteronormative terms. We are sadly, still not accepting that gay men are just men who like other men. Many gay relationships are akin to romantic friendships not monogamous man and wife roles dynamics.
