It’s pretty ridiculous to read this now. Shows a huge bias toward plodding dramas (Dances With Wolves, Giant, Patton, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner) and legacy Golden Age fair (An American in Paris, Doctor Zhivago) while sci-fi/horror are shut out. It’s probably hard to overstate the legacy films like The Shining, Alien or Blade Runner have with today’s audiences while so many films on the AFI list are forgotten.
