Someone bought me a box last Christmas or the year before. I was not impressed.

They haven't changed much from the 70's and 80's when my family would get them as gifts from relatives. That's the last time I had them.

OK so not to be a cunt:

That's a shame. Why weren't you impressed, R7? What are you favorite chocolates, and how are the different from See's?

by Anonymousreply 10December 21, 2021 9:50 PM

Not R7, but the current trend is toward more bitter chocolates. See's has always been sweet (not overly sweet, IMO, just not bitter).

If it hasn't changed since the '70s and '80s, I'd actually consider that a positive.

However, I do know for sure that the candies are a bit smaller than they used to be (calorie count has gone down, slightly, as well).

The boxes are the same, but now, when you open the box, there's a sheet of white bubble paper on top of the first layer. Used to have a wrap of thick white paper with the sticker closure (inside the box).

r10, I don't really have favorite chocolates of this type. I once liked something raspberry in a Godiva candy. There was a Godiva shop near where I worked. It might actually have been chocolate ice cream with raspberry coulis.

If I eat chocolate, I like plain Guittard, dark, around 70%. These bars are nice, and the chips are easily available at Whole Foods. I can't eat much of it anymore, as chocolate will give me a headache.
