Should I give my nephew the gift I picked out or something from his Amazon Wishlist?

I had picked out a jacket for him during a Black Friday sale. But now I see he has an Amazon Wishlist. My partner said I should forget about the jacket and just give him something he really wants from his wishlist.

The problem is everything he’s listed is so expensive.

GoPro Hero Max 6K - $549.98

Astro Max Drone X - $209.99

Nintendo Switch - $299.99

PlayStation 5 - $499.99

HTC VIVE Pro - $799.99

Lush 3rd Generation - $129.00

Funko POP! Collection - $299.99

Xtreme 3 Gamer Chair - $349.99

LogicTech Pro Webcam - $329.99

MacBook Air - $1299.99

iPad Pro 12” - $1499.99

Should I still give him the jacket or just pick the cheapest thing on his wishlist to give him?

by Anonymousreply 131December 7, 2022 11:02 PM

Can you still return the jacket to Ross?

by Anonymousreply 1December 20, 2021 7:51 PM

Ha. 0/10. No kid would need ALL that stuff at once, they would alredy own half that shit. . Coal or oranges. They can be tangerines even. Buy him a fucking book. Teach him to read.

by Anonymousreply 2December 20, 2021 7:54 PM

That list is insane. Are you insane? Does insanity run in your family? Sure, blow $500-$1200 on your nephew for Christmas. Have at it. But that kid would be getting a $100 gift card from me and that would be that.

by Anonymousreply 3December 20, 2021 7:54 PM

Bitch, I didn’t get the jacket from Ross. It’s Tommy Hilfiger!

by Anonymousreply 4December 20, 2021 7:55 PM

Get him an Amazon gift card for whatever amount you’re comfortable with and he can apply it toward his items.

by Anonymousreply 5December 20, 2021 7:55 PM

[quote]My partner said I should forget about the jacket and just give him something he really wants from his wishlist.

This is character-revealing, and not in a good way. Your partner thinks love is expressed materially and conditionally, and places lopsided emphasis on what other people think. Huge red flags.

by Anonymousreply 6December 20, 2021 7:56 PM

I honestly thought this was an EST until I got to the wish list, which can’t possibly be faked (Funko Pops!).

OP, return the jacket and get your nephew Stephen King’s The Stand and a book you loved at his age.

by Anonymousreply 7December 20, 2021 7:57 PM

Unless you people are very wealthy and self-indulgent, every item on your nephew's wish list is far too expensive. If his parents want him to have any of those gifts, then let them buy it themselves. Those are NOT gifts that an uncle should have to buy, nor should you feel obligated to buy.

For what it's worth, I sent my nephew a card with a check for $25. Enough.

by Anonymousreply 8December 20, 2021 7:57 PM

My aunt is a millionaire and I have never gotten a Christmas or a birthday gift from her costing more than $40 with tax.

by Anonymousreply 9December 20, 2021 8:02 PM

Why does my mind immediately go to the image of you fucking your nephew as his “gift.”

by Anonymousreply 10December 20, 2021 8:04 PM

Get him the Ass Blaster 9000!

by Anonymousreply 11December 20, 2021 8:04 PM

Those are too expensive unless you have three or more people to split the lower-end gifts with then give him an Amazon Card. His parents should buy him the most expensive stuff.

by Anonymousreply 12December 20, 2021 8:06 PM

Get yourself some prep Uncle Bottom!

by Anonymousreply 13December 20, 2021 8:07 PM

Am I the only one confident OP is a troll? Even the most spoiled and entitled rich kid isn't going to expect that much high dollar shit for Christmas.

by Anonymousreply 14December 20, 2021 8:08 PM

Was that his way of telling you he's on Chaturbate?

by Anonymousreply 15December 20, 2021 8:08 PM

[quote] Bitch, I didn’t get the jacket from Ross. It’s Tommy Hilfiger!

Oh, sorry. You got it at Marshall's, not Ross!

by Anonymousreply 16December 20, 2021 8:08 PM

That wishlist says Chaturbate cam whore.

Your nephew is NAUGHTY.

by Anonymousreply 17December 20, 2021 8:09 PM

I think you should have a sleepover at your house, and find out what he really wants for Christmas.

by Anonymousreply 18December 20, 2021 8:10 PM

This won't end well.

by Anonymousreply 19December 20, 2021 8:11 PM

Buy him or email an Amazon gift card in an amount you’re comfortable with. Any amount. In the message say “put this towards something on your wishlist”.

by Anonymousreply 20December 20, 2021 8:11 PM

Isn’t Lush a sex toy!?

by Anonymousreply 21December 20, 2021 8:13 PM

Seriously, people… did some of you miss the Lush Gen 3 on the list? Go look up “gullible” in the dictionary. It won’t be there 😎

by Anonymousreply 22December 20, 2021 8:13 PM

[quote] Oh, sorry. You got it at Marshall's, not Ross!

Macy’s, dear. Anyways, I think I’m going to listen to my partner and get him the cheapest thing on his Wishlist. $129.00 is actually cheaper than the jacket I got him so I guess I’ll be saving money in a way. I’ll return the jacket to Macy’s or give it to my partner as his gift.

by Anonymousreply 23December 20, 2021 8:14 PM

Your nephew seems like a real CUNT!! A greedy little cunt! Tell him to GET A JOB and pay for all crap himself.! I'd make a donation to an Abortion Rights Group in his name, since your sister didn't have the foresight to abort his ass and flush him down the toilet!!!

by Anonymousreply 24December 20, 2021 8:16 PM

Of course you are, since that's the internet connected ass toy.

by Anonymousreply 25December 20, 2021 8:21 PM

So you’re going to give your partner a crappy jacket you bought for your nephew almost a month ago? So thoughtful, OP.

by Anonymousreply 26December 20, 2021 8:22 PM

It’s not crappy. It’s Tommy Hilfiger!

by Anonymousreply 27December 20, 2021 8:24 PM

Make a $1000.00 donation to UNICEF in his name and stick the card in his stocking with an envelope from Gucci or some such ne plus ultra store. He'll see the 1K and cream his panties. Have your phone ready to snap the pic of his face when he sees what the card says. Frame the pic and give it to him for his birthday. Being who I am, I'd include a caption that attacks his little values.

It's more than he deserves. He won't change, but you'll have the satisfaction of having taken the piss out of him in front of his family.

by Anonymousreply 28December 20, 2021 8:26 PM

Today is December 20, you're crazy if you think you'd even have half of those things in hand before Christmas.

[quote]Should I still give him the jacket or just pick the cheapest thing on his wishlist to give him?

I'd get him something he really wants. Look at what's in stock and then decide. The $499.99 PS5 & Switch consoles aren't going to happen until next month.

by Anonymousreply 29December 20, 2021 8:28 PM

Your nephew sounds like he was naughty this year.

You need to give him a spanking, op.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 30December 20, 2021 8:32 PM

Why does he want a webcam, OP?

Does he have “an” onlyfans?

by Anonymousreply 31December 20, 2021 8:42 PM

[quote] Anyways

Oh, dear!

by Anonymousreply 32December 20, 2021 8:43 PM

[quote] Make a $1000.00 donation to UNICEF in his name

Or, better still, the Human Fund.

by Anonymousreply 33December 20, 2021 8:43 PM

OP: May I ask, how old is your nephew?

Those wish list gifts are way too expensive. A gift limit of $50 for a nephew is more than enough.

by Anonymousreply 34December 20, 2021 9:03 PM

He’s 19. We’ve always given gifts in the $100 - 200 range.

by Anonymousreply 35December 20, 2021 9:08 PM

Get him the Ashtro Maxsh Drone Xsh.

by Anonymousreply 36December 20, 2021 9:13 PM

What kind of jacket did you get that costs so much? Just get one at Uniqlo

by Anonymousreply 37December 20, 2021 9:15 PM

$50 for nephews and nieces

by Anonymousreply 38December 20, 2021 9:15 PM

Give him the jacket.

by Anonymousreply 39December 20, 2021 9:18 PM

Give him a jockstrap.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 40December 20, 2021 9:19 PM

OP/R35, you are wasting time debating this on DL, a lot of what you listed is out of stock until after Christmas, some of it wont be available until after the new year.

[quote]Lush 3rd Generation - $129.00

I don't know what this is.

by Anonymousreply 41December 20, 2021 9:21 PM

It says it’s a Bluetooth controller for mobile devices. Maybe for the Xbox. I did give him Bluetooth PS4 controllers last year.

by Anonymousreply 42December 20, 2021 9:37 PM

[quote] What kind of jacket did you get that costs so much? Just get one at Uniqlo

It’s Tommy Hilfiger!

by Anonymousreply 43December 20, 2021 9:38 PM

I'm taking all my presents back for the money. You can do that you know.

by Anonymousreply 44December 20, 2021 9:41 PM

I think he has a lot of gall to post a wish list. I know he’s an adult, but this could still be a teachable moment. I wouldn’t buy him something from his list. The jacket is fine. You put thought into that. God forbid he doesn’t get exactly what he wants. Christmas isn’t supposed to be about gifts anyway.

by Anonymousreply 45December 20, 2021 9:45 PM

Get him the Lush and ask for a percentage of his chaturbate tips

by Anonymousreply 46December 20, 2021 9:48 PM

I knew the eldergays would be frothing at the mouth as soon as I saw OP. Miserable, bitter, misanthropic cunts who haven't been on speaking terms with their families in years aren't the ones to ask about what you should get a teenaged nephew for a gift.

Personally, I would get the Nintendo Switch. I got that for my own nephew a couple of years ago and he loved it.

by Anonymousreply 47December 20, 2021 9:50 PM

I would never give a young adult a coat or other clothing as a gift. And I am with R38, $50 is sufficient for a niece or nephew.

by Anonymousreply 48December 20, 2021 10:07 PM

Those Amazon wish list items are things his parents should pick from, not an uncle. Give the little money grubber the jacket. If he doesn't like it drop him like a hot rock.

by Anonymousreply 49December 20, 2021 10:10 PM

It depends how close you are to your nieces or nephews. $50 is sufficient if you don't really see them much, but if you're a close relative you should give more.

Of course, most DLers are either not close or completely estranged from their families so I'm not surprised by the shitty responses.

by Anonymousreply 50December 20, 2021 10:11 PM

OP doesn’t say the nephew asked him to shop from the wishlist, that was OP’s partner’s suggestion. The wishlist might be the nephew’s list for Santa, which kids don’t mind putting crazy expensive things on.

by Anonymousreply 51December 20, 2021 10:13 PM

A Lush is a sex vibrator that responds to tips on Chaturbate. Either your nephew has no shame or you made this up OP.

by Anonymousreply 52December 20, 2021 10:14 PM

Give him a lump of coal so he can learn the true meaning of Christmas.

by Anonymousreply 53December 20, 2021 10:16 PM

Give him nothing. He obviously is a selfish, spoiled child. I know this is a troll post, but still. Who has the balls to have a list of expensive items like that unless theyre a whore hoping some dumb sugar daddy will buy it for them.

by Anonymousreply 54December 20, 2021 10:17 PM

Based on his list, dear nephew doesn’t need a coat since he never leaves his mom’s basement.

by Anonymousreply 55December 20, 2021 10:18 PM

Yeah he sounds like a fucking spoiled ingrate who gets whatever he wants from mommy and daddy, and probably has a credit card that the parents pay. Fuck him. Save your money for when we can travel to Europe again.

by Anonymousreply 56December 20, 2021 10:19 PM

[quote] OP doesn’t say the nephew asked him to shop from the wishlist, that was OP’s partner’s suggestion. The wishlist might be the nephew’s list for Santa, which kids don’t mind putting crazy expensive things on.

Correct, he didn’t ask for it. I just came across his wishlist today so am second guessing my gift.

[quote] I would never give a young adult a coat or other clothing as a gift.

Why not? It’s a nice coat. It’s Tommy Hilfiger!

by Anonymousreply 57December 20, 2021 10:29 PM

[quote] I think he has a lot of gall to post a wish list.

How does the Amazon wish list work? You look up his name on Amazon?

Or does he post it to his Facebook/Instagram? (The only ones I've seen do that are gay escorts).

by Anonymousreply 58December 20, 2021 10:31 PM

OP, how do know if someone else has not already bought him items from the wish list?

Give him the jacket and be done with it. A wish list are usually suggestions, not demands and parameters for gifts.

by Anonymousreply 59December 20, 2021 10:33 PM

My “cool” uncle used to always give us CDs we hadn’t heard of. I guess that’s not really possible these days, but giving him something that you think is cool (whether that’s the coat, a book, a poster, etc) suggests you think he’s cool enough to appreciate it. Uncles are able to do that when a parent doing the same thing would just make the kid roll his eyes,

by Anonymousreply 60December 20, 2021 10:33 PM

R57, at 19, your nephew is an adult with his own taste in clothes.

by Anonymousreply 61December 20, 2021 10:34 PM

How do you know...

by Anonymousreply 62December 20, 2021 10:34 PM

The wish list isn't like a bridal registry, it's just things people would like to have. They're not sending it to everyone and saying "buy this for me!" JFC some of you are so clueless. And the wish list isn't all unusual for a modern teenager.

by Anonymousreply 63December 20, 2021 10:35 PM

I thought they were titles to the coolest new video games, but when the items from his wishlist arrived they turned out to be tubes of fancy lube and a butt plug. Part of me is quite relieved I didn’t simply forward the trove to him with warmest holiday wishes.

by Anonymousreply 64December 20, 2021 10:42 PM

How would he look in a form fitting speedo? It’s the gift that keeps on giving.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 65December 20, 2021 10:42 PM

[quote] how do you know if someone else has not already bought him items from the wish list?

You can see what items have already been purchased. For example, I can see someone already bought him the XBox One $399.99, a flashlight $119.99, Calvin Klein underwear $34.99, Kindle Fire 10 $99.99, Room Pole with Expansion $149.99, Rick and Monty plush $29.99.

by Anonymousreply 66December 20, 2021 10:42 PM

Lush Gen 3? Fake list.

by Anonymousreply 67December 20, 2021 10:42 PM

My childhood was a lot different. We would have either a Super Nintendo or Sega Genesis and we were stuck with our first choice. That's why we are all forced to convince ourselves we had the better console when we played a different system at a friends house.

by Anonymousreply 68December 20, 2021 10:42 PM

Hot body on R65, but the neck is too thick for the head.

Looks like a thumb.

I'd still flip-flop with him though - not that he would be interested.

by Anonymousreply 69December 20, 2021 10:48 PM

Your nephew is a whore.

by Anonymousreply 70December 20, 2021 10:52 PM

I would avoid giving anyone clothing, especially young people. Even parents fail at buying young adults and teenagers clothing. I hate it when people give me clothing because they almost never get my taste correct including close family members.

by Anonymousreply 71December 20, 2021 10:53 PM

I stopped giving my nephew and niece gifts when I found out their uptight Christian mother was giving everything to Goodwill.

by Anonymousreply 72December 20, 2021 10:59 PM

What R71 said, plus OP’s sense of other people’s taste in clothes is highly suspect at best since his “solution” is to just give the jacket to his partner. The chance that OP’s nephew and partner both have the same taste in clothes is slim to none.

by Anonymousreply 73December 20, 2021 11:01 PM

Never ever give nieces or nephews anything besides gift cards and cash. They don’t want the stupid clothing you bought. I give mine Starbucks gift cards because they are there every single day.

by Anonymousreply 74December 20, 2021 11:02 PM

R4 You should have gone to Ross. They typically have tons of Tommy Hilfiger there.

by Anonymousreply 80December 20, 2021 11:39 PM

What is his Chaturbate name? Give him 50 tokens.

by Anonymousreply 81December 20, 2021 11:50 PM

Share his Chaturbate name and we will all give him tokens. A holiday haul for your nephew's load!

by Anonymousreply 82December 21, 2021 12:35 AM

The jacket

by Anonymousreply 83December 21, 2021 12:37 AM

I miss the days when people were good creative writers.

by Anonymousreply 84December 21, 2021 12:39 AM

Keep the receipt. If the teen is unhappy with the jacket or it doesn't fit, he can exchange it at the store for another item or a refund. Tell him that. It is a very common practice.

by Anonymousreply 85December 21, 2021 12:46 AM

Buy him a yearly subscription to Datalounge.

by Anonymousreply 86December 21, 2021 1:44 AM

Is he launching an onlyfans?

by Anonymousreply 87December 21, 2021 1:52 AM

I have 40 nieces and nephews. They're not getting anything.

by Anonymousreply 88December 21, 2021 1:55 AM

Better yet, give him an annual subscription to Say Uncle Unlimited, which includes Family Dick.

by Anonymousreply 89December 21, 2021 2:27 AM

by Anonymousreply 90December 21, 2021 5:04 PM

by Anonymousreply 91December 21, 2021 5:34 PM

I'd like to offer your nephew my mouth for christmas!

by Anonymousreply 92December 21, 2021 5:35 PM

I have three words for you, op.

DOUBLE. HEADED. DILDO.

by Anonymousreply 93December 21, 2021 6:37 PM

Neither option. I have found nephews to be a bad investment.

by Anonymousreply 94December 21, 2021 6:44 PM

It's insane to spend in the range of a wedding gift for an annual Christmas present for a nephew. Are you made of money or just stupid beyond belief. At 19, is he at least reciprocating from his own earnings? Or are mom and dad still buying his "gifts" to you?

by Anonymousreply 95December 21, 2021 7:48 PM

I can't believe that you people are still indulging the op troll.

You realize this is an "Uncle Bottom's Nephew" troll post. Don't you?

by Anonymousreply 96December 21, 2021 7:50 PM

Get the little prick a pocket pussy and move on with your life.

by Anonymousreply 97December 21, 2021 8:48 PM

Maybe he wants a pocket asshole r97. Have u ever though about the unbridled pleasure of self service plastic assholes?

by Anonymousreply 98December 21, 2021 8:56 PM

I have, actually! I won a pocket asshole at bingo a few weeks ago! It just doesn't flow off the tongue as nicely as pocket pussy does.

by Anonymousreply 100December 21, 2021 9:08 PM

I never realized until recently how fucking expensive these video games are. Also, it's older men (into their 40s) who buy and play these games.

by Anonymousreply 101December 21, 2021 9:10 PM

R99 what kind of fucked up bingo game do you attend?

by Anonymousreply 102December 21, 2021 9:13 PM

That’s just because you’ve never rimmed a pocket asshole.

by Anonymousreply 103December 21, 2021 9:32 PM

1. That list has probably already been covered by the lads parents, and grandparents (maybe). As an uncle or aunt, depending on how close you are, may go for a pricier but superfluous gift.

2. The kid probably doesn't have many 'nice' things to wear and that's a gift that will be useful. Was also thoughtful of you and practical as a gift. Why should his entertainment needs be met by you?

I always got (still do some years) some great clothes from one aunt at Christmas. The other aunt was the toy/more outrageous gift giver, but SHE asked. I didn't go about sending obnoxiously expensive gift lists for things, (had a friend who did that, beyond spoiled, didn't appreciate anything until she is now older and without the financial help she was accustomed to).

by Anonymousreply 104December 22, 2021 12:00 AM

What is Funko Pop collection. Can he not start with one Funko Pop? They're $10-12. This brat is thinking too big.

by Anonymousreply 105December 22, 2021 12:31 AM

[quote] That list has probably already been covered by the lads parents, and grandparents (maybe).

[quote]I didn't go about sending obnoxiously expensive gift lists for things,

You’re showing your age and/or that you have no idea how Amazon works. The OP’s nephew doesn’t “send out” the list. It sits on his account until someone decides to look at it. And if a gift has already been purchased by someone else, it will reflect that on the list so there are no duplicates.

by Anonymousreply 106December 22, 2021 1:33 PM

He don't want your gay ass gift. Get him something off Amazon.

by Anonymousreply 107December 22, 2021 1:42 PM

[quote] Ha. 0/10. No kid would need ALL that stuff at once, they would alredy own half that shit. . Coal or oranges. They can be tangerines even. Buy him a fucking book. Teach him to read.

My 15 year old nephew has a similar list. He owns a cutting edge gamer pc station and a Playstation 4. He wants Ipads, notebooks, go pro, playstation 5, switch etc.

Sounds like a typical teenagers list. That said if I liked the nephew I'd give him the jacket and an item from the list. I gave my nephew a nintendo switch and he sold it to invest on his ADM video card. I play with him sometimes.

by Anonymousreply 108December 22, 2021 1:48 PM

by Anonymousreply 112December 22, 2021 4:08 PM

I’m sure he’d be over the moon to receive the no doubt dowdy coat you’ve “carefully picked out”.

by Anonymousreply 113December 22, 2021 4:17 PM

It’s not dowdy. It’s very stylish. Again, it’s Tommy Hilfiger! It’s everyone’s style. It’s timeless, for any age.

[quote] are ipads really that good? what about other tablets?

Most of them have shift keys that work at least.

R120 I use mine everyday, and it's an IPAD 2, almost 8 yrs old. Although it's on the down slope in its lifespan, the only issue really is battery life (but that changes if I turn off bluetooth and wifi, my first I'd had for 5 or 6 yrs, and in that time Id never used the 3g or needed a data line for it, and was still working when I upgraded and gave to a relative.

I use an android/Samsung phone but tablet and computer are Apple products, and the hot spot function of the phone works to give the Ipad connectivity so it's really a versatile bit of tech, although it had it's limitations; to some the lack of Flash compatibility would be a dealbreaker I'd imagine.

I still use my iPad 1! No need to upgrade when it still works so well.

It's a bullshit post. As others have mentioned, Lush 3 is a sex toy. Thanks to the people that shared what that is as I had no clue.
