Every night, I have a terrible, prolonged anxiety attack. Sometimes a panic attack. Sometimes I take ativan or another bento so that I can eventually sleep.
Do any of you have this problem? What starts it? How do you get it under control?

Do you have a blood pressure monitor machine? They are not expensive. What does your doctor say about your anxiety attacks?

Klonopin works for me when I am about to have an anxiety-inducing event. I also take Cymbalta daily.

Well smoking too much weed can do it.
Moderation, doll.

I have high stress levels due to work and I cant relax for shit, but exercise, yoga, lime blossom herbal tea (or whatever bullshit plant does it for you) and weekly massages work for me. Try disconnecting watching a movie, stop thinking about stupid things for a while, rest your mind.

OP, in addition to medication see an actual therapist.

Well, my anxiety almost all about my partner dying. I lost my parents when I was young, I am an only child and my only relatives live in another country. I have huge panic attacks about my partner dying and being alone in the world. I also have terrors about running out of money and becoming homeless.
My blood pressure is normal. My doc dismisses my feelings because I am bipolar, and my shrink thinks my feelings are understandable. I am medicated for bipolar, btw.

You can't seriously want psychiatric advice from the DL can you?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | December 19, 2021 9:26 PM |
What triggers your anxiety attacks, OP? It can't just come out of the blue.

Op, Have you ever meditated? It's very relaxing and calming once you learn how to do it. It doesn't have to be spiritual or religious-based meditation. Your therapist might be able to give you some guidance. (If not, search online.) Good luck.

Make a plan for what you'd do if your partner did die or your money runs out. Find out what resources there are in your area for alone or homeless people for example. And if you can't find a good enough plan, then for me I just accept that it's pointless and a waste of life worrying about it for the moment and that what will happen will happen, I'll deal with it for better or worse when/if it happens.

Mary! Do NOT look up fucking homeless shelters. What shit advice.

Is your partner older than you, or are you both older? Is he sick or at risk for dying soon? I'm not trying to minimize your fears. My partner is none of those things, but I still worry what my life would be like if he died. It helps me to ground myself in the actual likelihood of experiencing that anytime soon being very low, but I also know how intrusive thoughts can be a bitch to manage with anxiety.
I think R11 has good advice; come up with a plan. My therapist says anxiety is our mind telling us to take an action, to answer the fear with some plan of action, even if it's something small or theoretical. If your anxious brain is playing a nasty "what if" scenario on a loop, break up the signal with a plan of action, even if it's unlikely to be necessary in reality.

Yes indeed, we too use "cookies." Take a look at our privacy/terms or if you just want to see the damn site without all this bureaucratic nonsense, click ACCEPT. Otherwise, you'll just have to find some other site for your pointless bitchery needs.
