Well, Pete is the best choice on the Democrat side. Maybe he is not the choice of white left-liberals, but he is a moderate, good looking, photogenic, and presidential. We need a photogenic president and Pete will be perfect. He needs a good hostess so he can bring in Rachel Maddow as an official hostess. And he should institute a questionnaire and bar anyone who is homophobic from entering the country. I think he is the best who will preserve all that is good about America.

Meanwhile every other candidate was a literal millionaire after years of parlaying their political experience into money.

Pete was the son of normal working class people. He was the mayor of a small fly over town. While he was well educated that was due to his hard work and dedication.

I have known of but not known Pete Buttigieg personally much longer the majority of you since I live in the South Bend TV market. He is driven to public service and I believe truly cares about the people, all the people which drives him to be more moderate than some would prefer. The idea that he had bad relations with the black community in South Bend is a joke. Yes he pissed off a few people as mayor, I doubt you can be mayor without doing so. South Bend is a better place than where it was when he started, no he didn't do miracles but he did better than previous Democratic Mayors and South Bend is better for having him as mayor.

Pete being well educated and a veteran would have made him very marketable in the private job market, he could have went the direction of private employment and become very wealthy, with two children to support I wouldn't be surprised if he decided to go that route someday, but equally not surprised if he stayed in politic because he is just one of those driven to public service. People who know Pete seem to like him and are loyal to him, I doubt you will ever find a former employee bad mouthing him unless it is for purely political motives.

I didn't think Pete was ready to be President in 2020 and I definitely didn't think America was ready to elect a gay man as President in 2020, so while I did make a small donation, I didn't vote for or support him. I am undecided about 2024, there is no point in making a decision when I don't know who will be running, but I do hope that someday Pete is President, I think he would be good for the country.

Elizabeth Warren outsmarted him when she, an actual millionaire, "wine-caved" him and painted him as an elitist partying with millionaires. He did give her the ammunition and wasn't prepared for her attack.

So by "very privileged" OP means "very intelligent and hardworking"? Granted that if Buttigieg was brought up under the poverty line he probably wouldn't have made it to Harvard, but his student loan debt shows that "very privileged" can't mean what most of us think of as "wealthy".

He went to Oxford on a Rhodes Scholarship, which pays tuition and living expenses. He used it to get First Class Honours, which from Oxford is a massive achievement even if you are naturally smart.

Yeah, Kamala's parents were very highly educated - her mother Shyamala was a breast cancer researcher, biologist and PhD and her father is an economics professor at Stanford. Wow. Obama's parents were also highly educated, as I'm sure many politician's parents are. Having educated parents gives one a SERIOUS leg up.

Pete's parents were respected academics, but nowhere near as renowned as Obama and Harris' parents. Is Pete really 5'6? That is short for a man and people are shallow enough to care about that.
