From 2008: Non-reciprocated Christmas card correspondence: WTF?

Here's a DL classic from the archives:

Every year I send out dozens of Christmas cards to my family and my so-called "friends" and maybe I'll receive 3 or 4 total in return IN A GOOD YEAR.

Well I'm sick of it. This year I've sent out all my cards as certified mail with return receipt requested. If don't receive a card from someone to whom I sent one, I'm going to confront that person and ask why he or she couldn't be bothered to send me a card. And if that person claims he or she never got it or that it got lost in the mail, I'll have the return receipt with me as proof that he did in fact receive me card, but just chose to ignore it because he's lazy and a liar.

I can hear the hissing all the way from 2008.

Due to fuckery with USPS all delivery will require extended shipping and handling time this year op so you may be waiting for that confirmation until new year’s.

How will OP manage in COVID times?

is this real? because its exactly the voice of the person who recently complained about having trouble meeting up with "friends" despite all of his best efforts. its been 13 years and he hasn't figured out how to interact with other humans?

people are so inflexible. i watch the new judge judy show and no matter how well she explains the law or her judgement, immediately after the loser usually says judy was wrong or that they were not responsible. even when the facts aren't in doubt.

Christmas cards are passé. We used to laugh at the mimeographed letters we used to get. My mother always felt she had to write personal letters to everyone. She dragged a sack full of cards to be done up until the middle of Feb.

I don't know if the premise itself was real, but the post certainly was, r4

r5 I'm sending Christmas cards this year to lots of friends, old and new. I'm also sending them to a few of my mom's friends (she's approaching late-stage Alzheimer's) as a way to keep my connection to her. She loved Christmas and always had a long list of people who received cards
