The terrifying Netflix show also deals in violent ends – with demonic smackdowns by CGI brutes – but it’s so much more than Squid Game. This is truly exceptional drama that will be spoken about for decades
Hellbound: the South Korean death-fest that wipes the floor with Squid Game

🙄🙄🙄
Hellbound Heart was better and original.

I tried to get into it in the first episode. The poor special effects and religiosity turned me off. It was no Squid Game.

I am so sick of this shit.
And I love fantasy and horror.
What happened to wonder and subtlety and atmosphere and setting and mood?

The opening made my heart race. Yikes.

People are sent to Hell in broad daylight in this vicious drama from "Train to Busan" director Yeon Sang-ho, one that grapples with the dangers of weaponized beliefs.

Enough with Asian films.

Enough with Asian…

This improves markedly towards the end. So I recommend to stick if you got patience. It's ruthless as no character is spared and killed left and right. There is also no real lead as most of the characters from the beginning got offed mid way through. The cliffhanger ending was bonkers but also very moving.

What exactly do you mean by "this shit?"

This, R13.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | November 26, 2021 12:25 PM |
Violent crap CGI followed by more violent crap CGI, R13.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | November 26, 2021 2:44 PM |
It's not about the CGI or the actors' race. The point is the story. The story is really good.

DefatTurd angry that Americans are watching an Asian show lol
by Anonymous | reply 17 | November 26, 2021 3:31 PM |
I’m not Defacto but if he’s sick of this shit too, good.

I'm also tired of this shit. Watched train to Busan because of all the rave reviews. Meh. No wit. I'm now watching old BW Hollywood dramas. Got Harriet Craig cued up.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | November 26, 2021 6:14 PM |
I just saw the first episode. I'm hooked, but just how dark does it get?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | November 28, 2021 9:58 PM |
I liked Train to Busan but this is shit. I don't need to see people getting beaten to death.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | November 28, 2021 10:03 PM |
It's not about the monsters. It's about how people react to it and how society changes. Who exploits it to gain power, etc.

R20, very!

I was over at a friend's apt and we watched a korean drama, it seems like every single actor/actress in it has had plastic surgery, esp the nose job. But they all have such nice smooth skin, even the men.

You lost me at Korean.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | January 19, 2022 12:19 AM |
It's more of a critique of religion than an endorsement. I found it interesting, but I don't think it was better than Squid Game. But then I prefer Alice in Borderland (Japanese) to either of them.

As with Marvel films, bad CGI totally makes me lose interest no matter how great the story is.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | January 19, 2022 12:51 AM |
I just watched. Couldn't stop. It's damn good.
