DOES ANYONE HAVE VERIZON FIOS FOR CABLE AND INTERNET?

I’m thinking of switching from Spectrum which has become ridiculously expensive.

You're lucky to have an option. Many of us only have a choice between Spectrum (cable) and DSL (phone company.) Which isn't much of a choice, since DSL sucks.

I had it before I moved. Loved it. I had the 1 gb up and down option. Blazingfly fast.

Verizon FiOS is even more expensive than Spectrum. I've had both.

I have it and will downgrade soon. They are ripping me off because I let them.

Verizon is offering me the same plan I have with Spectrum for $50 less per month.

I have FiOS at my main address and Spectrum at my second home. Right now I'm paying about the same for each, but my Spectrum package includes HBO and Showtime, whereas FiOS doesn't.

I've had far fewer issues with Spectrum over the last few years than Verizon.

I have fits and am happy. i wish it was less expensive but it works really well

You will learn to hate verizon.

My Spectrum bill is outrageous now. I only have a box on one TV, DVR, and internet/modem. My bill is over $200 a month now. It's such a waste of $$. I stream almost everything I watch. I don't think FiOS is available to me, unfortunately. Definitely go for the plan they're offering you. If they up it after a year, go back to Spectrum and get a promo through them again.

R9. Great idea. Thanks!

Another truly gripping frau thread.

I have FIOS, and when the bill starts creeping up I call and give them the exact amount Spectrum will charge me as a "new" customer (I've gone back and forth many times), and announce I need their best offer for at least a year, or I'll leave.

When I call I ask to speak to an "Account Retention" specialist. They know the drill, they also know exactly what Spectrum would charge me to the penny. I ask for their best offer. Recently I got basically the same plan with $40/month cut from my bill, so I'm staying. FIOS has far better customer service, they're actually very nice. That's why I really wanted to stay.

R12. Thanks for the tip. I called Spectrum and spoke with a very nice Retention Manager who was shocked at how high my bill is but, sadly, couldn’t do anything to lower it. I’m calling Verizon tomorrow. The manager said if I stick with Verizon for 6 mos then call spectrum and tell them I want to come back I’ll get a much better deal. RIDICULOUS!

Fios has fast internet and is very reliable. I've been happy with them personally. Though my bill has gone up over time.

FIOS is Fiber to the home. That is important to know vs ATT which is Fiber to the node. Verizon runs Fiber optic to your house so it is full speed end to end. Fiber to the node means they only run fiber to a central node then copper wire to your house, which cannot match the speed of fiber to your home.

Verizon sold its landline business (including FiOS) in the west to Frontier, so it is now the FiOS provider in my area. But they are not expanding availability and it will probably never come to my house.
