Bill Maher: Democrats Can’t Win By Telling White People They Suck

[QUOTE]"It's like trying to get laid by saying, 'You're ugly; you want to dance?' You're alienating a whole lot of people, particularly whites without a college degree which is most of them in a country that's still 70% white."

by Anonymousreply 365December 4, 2021 11:28 AM

He belongs to Bari Weiss' "university". Aren't they BFFs?

by Anonymousreply 1November 21, 2021 10:27 PM

Oh, my God, enough already. Democrats can't win because dickweeds in the media keep repeating the same bullshit about Democrats.

by Anonymousreply 2November 21, 2021 10:28 PM

Most Democrats are white people. Bill Maher is stupid and says things he doesn't really believe to get attention

by Anonymousreply 3November 21, 2021 10:28 PM

Maher has turned into a right wing nut but because it’s more profitable to be a Tucker Carlson or Joe Rogan than it is to be moderate or left.

by Anonymousreply 4November 21, 2021 10:29 PM

R4 nailed it.

by Anonymousreply 5November 21, 2021 10:30 PM

But he’s right. How many responses do we get complaining about how certain shows (Oscars) as an example, are telling whites how hard the blacks have had it and whites need to be more sensitive? A lot. Complaints about being preached to, and “we get it” and wokeness going overboard.

by Anonymousreply 6November 21, 2021 10:35 PM

He is correct.

by Anonymousreply 7November 21, 2021 10:35 PM

[quote]Maher has turned into a right wing nut but because it’s more profitable to be a Tucker Carlson or Joe Rogan

It's more profitable because it's where most of the country is right now.

by Anonymousreply 8November 21, 2021 10:37 PM

[quote] He is correct.

Thank you, Drive-By Troll.

by Anonymousreply 9November 21, 2021 10:37 PM

No he isn't correct.

Democrats actually want to give people a fair shot at healthcare, a fair shot at a middle-class lifestyle, and a fairer tax system.

But all the media talks about is bullshit you won't hear from mainstream Democratic politicians.

by Anonymousreply 10November 21, 2021 10:38 PM

The gay white wokes hate Bill Maher.

by Anonymousreply 11November 21, 2021 10:47 PM

No, he is correct.

[quote]Democrats actually want to give people a fair shot at healthcare, a fair shot at a middle-class lifestyle, and a fairer tax system.

Are you hearing impaired? Have difficulty comprehending? He's not promoting the GOP.

by Anonymousreply 12November 21, 2021 10:47 PM

[quote] Are you hearing impaired? Have difficulty comprehending? He's not promoting the GOP.

You're a peach.

Yes, he is. By spreading bullshit about the Democrats he is very much promoting Republicans.

by Anonymousreply 13November 21, 2021 10:49 PM

Maher's right.

Identity politics has served its purpose. Now back to prioritizing the workers and middle America to move forward. Minorities' interests are best served this way. Bring well paid jobs back.

Its the ecomony, stupid.

by Anonymousreply 14November 21, 2021 10:49 PM

What the fuck do you think the infrastructure bill was designed to do? What do you think Build Back Better is all about?

by Anonymousreply 15November 21, 2021 10:52 PM

And, yet, the biggest fear of Maher and the rest of them who like to push that narrative is that, one day, they might be forced to live among those working class whites they claim to care so much about.

by Anonymousreply 16November 21, 2021 10:53 PM

Time for infrastructure bill 2.0. Keep pushing the advantage, men. Shoulders to the wheel. Looking at you r15.

by Anonymousreply 17November 21, 2021 10:55 PM

[quote] Time for infrastructure bill 2.0.

There are no votes. Why is the media narrative that Democrats fail when the reality is Republicans prevent them from doing anything?

by Anonymousreply 18November 21, 2021 10:57 PM

Of course only the right is asserting this, but go for it, Bill!

by Anonymousreply 19November 21, 2021 11:06 PM

There were plenty of white Biden supporters in some of these early elections who went and voted Republican because they felt exactly as Bill described, R19.

by Anonymousreply 20November 21, 2021 11:50 PM

Bill looks rough, that's a hard 70.

by Anonymousreply 21November 21, 2021 11:55 PM

[quote]Maher has turned into a right wing nut but because it’s more profitable to be a Tucker Carlson or Joe Rogan than it is to be moderate or left.

R4. R5. No, Bill Maher has not turned into a right-wing nut. But as he has seen the Dems plummet in the polls, Maher has become more vocal about being practical and pragmatic in order to WIN!!! Bill is an ally, but he wants to win. Because if they are out of power, the Repigs will try and maybe succeed in undoing many of the elements in the infrastructure and and Build Back Better bills.

The Repigs will shut down the Jan 6 committee to investigate the insurrection--and no one will be held account including Trump, which could make it more easily for Trump to go forward in 2024. We need to win--not criticize Maher because he has a practical solution to help WIN!!

by Anonymousreply 22November 21, 2021 11:55 PM

^^Because if "THEY" are out of power, the Repigs will try and maybe succeed in undoing many of the elements in the infrastructure and and Build Back Better bills.

In other words,,,"if the DEMS are out of power"

by Anonymousreply 23November 21, 2021 11:58 PM

His practical solution is to tell Democrats to stop doing what they are not actually doing?

Helpful.

by Anonymousreply 24November 22, 2021 12:00 AM

R24 (Oh the stupidity.)

It is about PERCEPTION. How the Dems are being perceived.

Maher is addressing THAT problem.

Whether you like it or not, polling shows Biden at a Trump-like low in the polls. And polls are showing the Dems at a disadvantage on a whole range of issues.

Maher is suggesting ways to right that.

by Anonymousreply 25November 22, 2021 12:10 AM

[quote] Maher is suggesting ways to right that.

Such as not telling white people they suck...which they aren't doing.

by Anonymousreply 26November 22, 2021 12:12 AM

Insecure whites see any kind of acknowledgement of structural racism, slavery etc as "telling white people they suck". They care more about being accused of racism than they do about racism itself.

by Anonymousreply 27November 22, 2021 12:16 AM

Once again it is about PERCEPTION. But we know you're too stupid to understand.

by Anonymousreply 28November 22, 2021 12:16 AM

[quote] Once again it is about PERCEPTION.

What the fuck can I do about another person's perception when it has no connection to reality?

[quote] But we know you're too stupid to understand.

Which is somehow a completely reasonable and inoffensive thing to say because...Democrats bad.

by Anonymousreply 29November 22, 2021 12:18 AM

Democrats aren't telling white people they suck. Equality for other races isn't about hating whites just like feminism isn't about hating men and gay rights aren't about hating straights. THis is a deliberate distortion to generate outrage.

by Anonymousreply 30November 22, 2021 12:18 AM

White people hate to feel bad about themselves. White people hate to be told they're stupid. And, white people hate to have the needs of "others" put before their needs. If you don't believe it, check out their voting patterns.

And I'm not talking about the urban blue state kind of white people with college degrees, I'm talking about your average, everyday white people that make up the majority. White republicans are the biggest snowflakes on the planet and you urban, blue state white people need to tone it down with your nonsense because half of them are voting just to piss you off and the other half are voting to fuck over "others".

by Anonymousreply 31November 22, 2021 12:21 AM

ABCNews Nov. 14th:

"Republican congressional candidates currently hold their largest lead in midterm election vote preferences in ABC News/Washington Post polls dating back 40 years..."

Highest in 40 years.

by Anonymousreply 32November 22, 2021 12:24 AM

The presidency is the key. Don't underestimate President Biden . He vanquished Trump, and a bunch of Democratic challengers to get the big chair. Trump lost the senate, House and presidency under his rule but he's not questioned in his party's drumming

by Anonymousreply 35November 22, 2021 12:31 AM

If you can’t see it that is fine. You will lose. Again and again and again. I am not American, but anyone can see you are sabotaging your own chances for winning. You cannot tell poor and uneducated Americans with no sense of hope, that they are also oppressors and privileged and deserve everything they get and top of that say they are also bigoted racists and Fascists and they should vote for you .

Why the fuck should they? You hold them in contempt. You say you don’t tell them that. That is bullshit. Anywhere on the internet you can see the contempt that the Democrats hold most of the nation. How many threads on here end up with posters yelling racist and Nazi at everyone they disagree with, but somehow you are so locked in your world of grievances that you are unable to see cause and effect.

Everyone is an enemy, a traitor.

Good luck with that in an Election.

by Anonymousreply 36November 22, 2021 12:32 AM

Which proves that ther is absolutely nothing Democrats can do. Americans have decided that Republicans can collude with Russians, that Republicans can manage a healthcare crisis so that 800,000 Americans can die. It has nothing to do with messaging or calling people names.

by Anonymousreply 37November 22, 2021 12:32 AM

Youtube has turned libertarian, center right or right wing from the past couple of years.

by Anonymousreply 38November 22, 2021 12:36 AM

America is a center- left country. The Republicans hold on to "feelings" to get their message across. Successful but hardly helpful to the country's people.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 39November 22, 2021 12:40 AM

R27 and R30 both nail it in my opinion.

by Anonymousreply 40November 22, 2021 12:50 AM

R30, and that distortion is working. We have to play the game better. The problem is that the rick who own all media and social media have a vested interest in keeping the nation split for profit and the Repugs in power for tax breaks.

[quote] Identity politics has served its purpose. Now back to prioritizing the workers and middle America to move forward. Minorities' interests are best served this way. Bring well paid jobs back.

We need to stop focusing everything on race and sex and need to focus EVERYTHING on class and economics like FDR did.

by Anonymousreply 41November 22, 2021 12:52 AM

[QUOTE] America is a center- left country. The Republicans hold on to "feelings" to get their message across. Successful but hardly helpful to the country's people.

How can the Democrats help anyone if they aren’t successful? You can’t do Jack shit if you don’t win the election.

by Anonymousreply 42November 22, 2021 1:13 AM

Evidently, it takes a Great Depression or really blatant fascism to get Americans to vote for those meanies the Democrats.

by Anonymousreply 43November 22, 2021 1:16 AM

Watch the clip again everyone. He says the Democrats are better for the middle class and the working class but too often they fall all over themselves with the woke BS and for believing that some dufus with a rose emoji in the twitter handle is the median voter in this country.

by Anonymousreply 44November 22, 2021 1:17 AM

And yet, there is no actual evidence of that...unless you watch a lot of rightwing media.

by Anonymousreply 45November 22, 2021 1:18 AM

no he's not right. he's an arrogant pompous asshole.

by Anonymousreply 46November 22, 2021 1:18 AM

Those of you who are saying he's not right are the problem. You keep burying your heads in the sand while Rome burns. The evidence is all around you.

by Anonymousreply 47November 22, 2021 1:25 AM

How are we the problem? What should we do instead?

by Anonymousreply 48November 22, 2021 1:27 AM

Tell white people what they want to hear, that everything is dandy and we solved racism.

by Anonymousreply 49November 22, 2021 1:54 AM

R49, and don't forget that slavery wasn't all that bad. Black people actually liked being in chains.

by Anonymousreply 50November 22, 2021 2:04 AM

The democratic party is done.

by Anonymousreply 51November 22, 2021 2:06 AM

R36 100%

by Anonymousreply 52November 22, 2021 2:08 AM

What's wrong with telling them what they want to hear? That's the problem with democrats, stop telling these idiots the truth. Just lie to them, make them feel good. Who cares as long as you get their votes.

by Anonymousreply 53November 22, 2021 2:11 AM

Bill Maher gets more press by attacking the left so he does it. He's a snake.

by Anonymousreply 54November 22, 2021 2:14 AM

Bill's still bitter his first show was cancelled 20 years ago. I think he's done okay since then. Let it go, Bill. Sheesh, for a pothead you'd think he'd be more easygoing.

by Anonymousreply 55November 22, 2021 2:21 AM

^ LOL!!!

by Anonymousreply 56November 22, 2021 2:22 AM

Anyone who votes for a Republican because the Oscars had an anti-racism message like r6 talks about is going to vote Republican anyway.

The Oscars are not a wing of the Democratic Party.

Every time you turn around you see someone posting a tweet from some guy with 12 followers saying "all whites are evil" and 4500 jackasses on DL say "this is why I'm voting for Trump!" This happens all over the internet, taking some individual group or person's opinion and saying it's why Democrats suck.

Maher does it now, too, which is just an indicator of how far he's sunk.

by Anonymousreply 57November 22, 2021 2:23 AM

Why doesn’t he run for office if he knows what’s best?

by Anonymousreply 58November 22, 2021 2:27 AM

“Tell white people what they want to hear, that everything is dandy and we solved racism.”r 49

No one will solve racism. It is inherently part of our world. We can definitely make it better and make it almost non existent, but fear of other cultures is a part of our evolutionary make up . To believe that White people are inherently more racist than everyone else on the planet is not only stupid, it is lie.

The Chinese believe they are better than most nations , as do the Japanese as do most nations in the world. Ignoring everyone else and saying White people are more uniquely racist than anyone else is frankly us flagellating ourselves in front of the world for nothing.

You don’t go to psychiatrist to not only hear you and your family are uniquely racist and that not only do you need to carry that burden, not only can you never make up for it , but somehow you have to move forward proclaiming it to all and sundry and btw ,please have self esteem. It is absurd. It is dangerous and it is also narcissistic.

It says to everyone, look at me . Look at me. It makes you the centre of attention , and destroys any hope of moving forward.

by Anonymousreply 59November 22, 2021 2:27 AM

Bullshit, R59. There is nothing biological about racism. It has been used as a weapon to divide over hundreds of years.

by Anonymousreply 60November 22, 2021 2:31 AM

White people are the ones who have a problem with racism in the United States. You can stuff your disingenuous whataboutism up your ass, R59. This country is built on white supremacism, not Chinese or Japanese supremacism. Sorry it hurts your fee-fees to admit it.

by Anonymousreply 61November 22, 2021 2:34 AM

Blacks are still only 13% of the US Population. Keep making EVERYTHING about them, and see how well the Dems do.

by Anonymousreply 62November 22, 2021 2:36 AM

[quote] Democrats actually want to give people a fair shot at healthcare, a fair shot at a middle-class lifestyle, and a fairer tax system.

And they will NEVER, EVER get the chance to do any of those things if they don't quit the far left nonsense that does NOT appeal to 30% of voters

I do not know why the dems INSIST on going the woke road. They barely have control of the senate. They need to stop trying to appeal to 10% of their voters and worry about the other 90%

It's like they just can't wait to lose the house and the senate.

by Anonymousreply 63November 22, 2021 2:41 AM

Preach R63!

by Anonymousreply 64November 22, 2021 2:42 AM

The line about Democrats working harder to impress "Guatemalan teenagers and bloggers in Gaza" than the average American is hilarious and sadly true.

Maher used to be a Libertarian and it shows. He still feels icky around gay men, but two women together is hot! As he has become more of a Democrat over the years, and felt more comfortable with gay men, I have become more of a fan. Like many here have said about him, he has somewhat become a cranky old man and predictable: “weed, weed, weed” is an example, so is his obsession with Islam. Comedy wise, he has hits and misses, and still does one of the most traditional stand-up acts around. All that being said, he does have pertinent political insights. He was one of the first public figures to say Twitler wouldn’t leave office if defeated, and to notice that Trumputin was rearranging cabinet members and Pentagon staff ahead of January 6th. Ignore Maher at your own peril I say. Political reality: The majority of White males have not voted for Democrat since 1960. Trump got 55% of White female voters in 2020, which was the biggest shock for me of all. I think that is what Maher is talking about. Democrats need to remember the numbers. Virginia was a warning. It’s not that complicated.

by Anonymousreply 68November 22, 2021 2:55 AM

Democrats see everyone as categories, not individuals. They think if you’re a certain race, religion, sexuality, sex, etc, this is your list of issues. That’s not reality. They’re also quick to tell us how oppressed or privileged we are and they also based this upon said category. It’s lazy thinking and people are sick and tired of it.

by Anonymousreply 69November 22, 2021 2:56 AM

What's wrong with that link R66? You seem to be a little confused about the history of Native Americans and settlers, but I'll give you a hint - there was quite a bit of genocide and violence involved.

by Anonymousreply 70November 22, 2021 2:57 AM

[quote] Democrats aren't telling white people they suck. Equality for other races isn't about hating whites just like feminism isn't about hating men and gay rights aren't about hating straights. THis is a deliberate distortion to generate outrage.

Yes, Democrats are saying that, non-stop. It’s not a distortion. Enjoy 40 years of Republican rule.

by Anonymousreply 71November 22, 2021 2:58 AM

White Americans need to grow up and get over needing to believe the Hollywood version of their history.

by Anonymousreply 72November 22, 2021 2:58 AM

Democrats are insufferable.

by Anonymousreply 73November 22, 2021 2:58 AM

[quote] White Americans need to grow up and get over needing to believe the Hollywood version of their history.

Like rewriting Stonewall and black revisionist history? lol. Democrats need to stfu and stay out of peoples’ personal lives. You’re not getting voted to be the morality police. Stop telling us how awful we are based on our complexion, stop telling us who we should fuck, stop rewriting language, stop denying biology, stop telling us to believe all victims. Just fuck off.

by Anonymousreply 74November 22, 2021 3:01 AM

R68, Virginia was definitely a warning. Biden won Virginia. So they lost all of that goodwill in less than a year

by Anonymousreply 75November 22, 2021 3:02 AM

You sound triggered, R74. Too bad white men aren't going to run the show anymore.

by Anonymousreply 76November 22, 2021 3:03 AM

He's totally right. Of course we want black, Hispanics, Asians, and all other minority to have a fair shot at everything.

But calling white people horrible (or whatever) is simply poor reasoning and a terrible tactic. Even if I totally get why white people deserve some shit, making it part of the platform will just turn away moderates. Then what? What's the point?

Shaming people - most of whom aren't racist at all - will only get you so far. We should be trying to construct coalitions. Not preach division.

by Anonymousreply 77November 22, 2021 3:08 AM

R70 Yes totally. The Democratic path to victory in 2022 and 2024 will be accomplished by sternly lecturing everyone about Amerikkka's genoicidal past and demanding that Thanksgiving be canceled. We'll win back Ohio with this rhetoric.

by Anonymousreply 78November 22, 2021 3:09 AM

If you want to pander to racists and snowflakes who can't get over their white fragility, you may as well be the Republican party.

by Anonymousreply 79November 22, 2021 3:11 AM

It was not that long ago that every program on MSNBC had a panel on “White privilege.” Even if you buy that analysis, you’re going to lose White voters by hammering away all day, every day. Unless you make up for those numbers by turning out more BIPOC voters, you’re going to suffer the consequences: losing elections. Maher wasn’t wrong. Anyone else annoyed by all the Trumptard trolls hanging around here since the election?

by Anonymousreply 80November 22, 2021 3:12 AM

You can be right 🙄, or you can win🎉, I don’t think it is much more difficult than that. The GQP has been working that angle since Lee Atwater.

by Anonymousreply 81November 22, 2021 3:15 AM

[quote] Insecure whites see any kind of acknowledgement of structural racism, slavery etc as "telling white people they suck".

You do know there's a difference between teaching about slavery and structural racism vs making kids define their level of privilege and group themselves as oppressed or oppressor, right? It's the latter that white people (and many black people) object to. Even if it's not happening in most classrooms, coming out and saying "boo hoo, whitey" as a response is not helpful to anyone.

by Anonymousreply 82November 22, 2021 3:17 AM

I can't stand Maher so I'm not going to watch that clip, but did he even discuss the passing last week of the once in a generation infrastructure bill? I would think that would be something that Democrats delivered for the white working class crowd in shithole states like West Virginny.

by Anonymousreply 83November 22, 2021 3:20 AM

[quote] Virginia was definitely a warning. Biden won Virginia. So they lost all of that goodwill in less than a year.

Actually Terry McAullife ran what was called a lame, "clueless" campaign. A better candidate could have easily won. But I also think Virginians were getting sick of the relentless efforts to show the world have progressive it's become: tearing down statues and signs and renaming roads and buildings, and legalizing pot and abolishing the death penalty. I think the liberalism was getting to be too much for a lot of people.

by Anonymousreply 84November 22, 2021 3:22 AM

[quote]Tell white people what they want to hear, that everything is dandy and we solved racism.

It's idiots like you that are the problem. No one is saying that. We need to stop making it about race and start making it about classism and economics because when you tell poor white people who struggle to make ends meet about how privileged they are even when compared to people like Obama or Oprah, it creates a dissonance that cannot be overcome by any of your nuanced explanations of "oh, no, you see, this is what we mean by privilege...". You've already lost almost everyone by that point.

Meanwhile, the Repugs dance around saying "Poor you. Did those mean _______ take your good life from you?" while simultaneously actually taking the possibility of a good life from their voters and still get the votes because they told them what they wanted to hear.

by Anonymousreply 85November 22, 2021 3:23 AM

Since when is Virginia the most Democratic state in the country? It was the capitol of the Confederacy for cripes sake. A solid purple, yes but not some Democratic bastion.

Only the privileged person could say that a country that literally thousands are trying to get too because of economics and freedoms they will never possess, is a “ shithole of a country “

Not an American, but i suggest you go to Pakistan or Saudi Arabia or India even, and come back and tell us , after proclaiming your Gayhood and your pronouns, how much of a shithole the country that gives you the right to hate it openly , without fear of reprisal, really is.

by Anonymousreply 92November 22, 2021 3:56 AM

by Anonymousreply 94November 22, 2021 4:02 AM

R92 is a flag-fucking Repug. Surprise surprise. Definitely a white male one, too. They're the only ones who talk like that. Can you even figure out that America AND those countries can be shitholes and that we are on a spectrum? Why don't you compare us to other first world countries instead of disingenuously comparing it to third world shitholes? Here, America is a first world shithole. That should make it all better in your tiny mind.

There is a frustration with red state America by liberals.. But FOX news, aided by international troublemakers fan an active, violent hatred toward blue state America, indeed toward their own form of representative government. Democracy is better off dead to them and I guess they are as duped by capitalism as our past foes were defined by their economic system of communism. They are as programmed as North Koreans, and a cultural revolution is afoot, a rejection of enlightenment, of a shared heritage, humanity and right to equity. They've chosen to be subjects to their new royalty.

[quote] But he’s right. How many responses do we get complaining about how certain shows (Oscars) as an example, are telling whites how hard the blacks have had it and whites need to be more sensitive? A lot. Complaints about being preached to, and “we get it” and wokeness going overboard.

The only thing whites are being victimized by is their own greed, selfishness and lack of empathy. The Trump presidency is a great example of that.

Sixty yr after the Civil Rights Movement and nonwhites are still fighting the same battles. How do you stop the national conversation about race and racism (that's not really being had) by which whites are so greatly inconvenienced. Stop being racist and end racism. Its that simple. Of course whites are not going to stop nor end something from which they believe they benefit. Instead they will fight to maintain the status quo and continue playing victim. Oppressed and victimized by these inconvenient conversations.

[quote] Actually Terry McAullife ran what was called a lame, "clueless" campaign.

For the last 50+ yrs the president's party has lost the VA governor's race. Terry McAuliffe is the one exception, with his 2013 win. Therefore, was it the "statues and signs" and "liberalism" that lost all of those other races too?

[quote][R89], the Repugs (like you) cater just as much to identity politics

Not agreeing with you doesn't make one a "repug". You're so limited.

by Anonymousreply 99November 22, 2021 4:33 AM

The white working class (and this is a generality so I don't mean all of them) are lazy, entitled, and yes, racist. They expect that things will go back to how they were when the coal mines and the lumber mills were the local industry where the men worked while their wives and daughters stayed home and raised babies.

That world is gone and never coming back, but do they want to innovate and transition to a 21st century economy? FUCK NO! I've worked for 20 years in small towns in Missouri and Arkansas that are in beautiful areas that could benefit from more tourism and outsiders from the cities coming to their towns for the weekend to go hiking or mountain biking. But the locals are outwardly bitter and hostile to anyone they don't know. Maybe you'd want some city slickers coming to your town and spending money in your hotels and cafes. I have several friends that have spent time in Russia and they have the exact same mentality--a yearning for some past glory that's now gone.

by Anonymousreply 100November 22, 2021 4:36 AM

Great r100. Maybe you can be the motivational speaker who can win those voters back …., or not. You are fucking living in the past. You still can’t get over 2016, so stop being so hypocritical. You are saying the US needs to come to terms with its past and future , yet you are unable to come to terms with having Trump as President.

R103 I don’t have too . I just have to watch from a distance in a lifeboat while the Titanic sinks below the waves. Don’t have to lift a finger for that to occur , it already is.

by Anonymousreply 104November 22, 2021 5:09 AM

The backbone of the Democratic party is black women and other minorities. Throwing away progressive values to pursuing the Trump-leaning redneck vote is going to alienate the base. Those voters are gone and they're not coming back, because white male power is in its death throes and those people will always gravitate to the candidate that tells them they can bring back the good old days, when white was right and minorities knew their place. We need to forget about them until they let go of the past. A generation or two and the white male may begin lets go of its chafing and derangement.

by Anonymousreply 105November 22, 2021 5:20 AM

OH, shut up, R105. If you think black women are completely okay with white women, you have another thing coming. Black women have an attitude for a reason, and I actually do find that it's pretty well grounded, but if you think you're going to be able to cater to it, you are not going to. It's all over the place. I'm not saying it's bad or wrong, I'm just telling it like it is.

and R74, I like you. you're someone I would like to sit around and just be bitchy-bitch a lot, and have a good time.

And to everyone doubting, you have no idea how bad this is. This isn't just the internet.

I've had to sit and listen to a white man lecture me on racism and white privilege, and someone I've known since we were in highs-chool. He not only had a way bigger house growing up, but it's something he brings up frequently. He brings up his family's affluence regularly. I've largely overlooked it until the lectures about privilege began.

I've had someone who is a devout democrat go on and on about women having children out of wedlock. Literally every single time I saw him. Not anything in particular pertaining to him, or effected him in any way, just thought it was funny to bring up, every single time. This went on for a while.

I had a date with another white gentleman who talked all about moving to the northwestern part of the country because it wasn't as racist. Sure, move to one of the least racially diverse parts of the country (the most white) to avoid racism. Then went on about how awful the south is. Because all those dumb black people down there don't know no better (he didn't say that out loud, but he might as well have). Then, he went on about his superior taste in mustard because he prefers dijon to yellow mustard. This was while we had a waiter who was black, and heard the entire conversation. I'm certain my date thought he was sounding "educated" or whatever it's supposed to be. It was embarrassing.

This shit happens all the time, and has gone on for years. If you don't know something or whatever, say so. Ti's ridiculous that we're supposed to feel like black people are not able to form their own opinions, or that you can have a normal relationship with someone who has a different skin color or upbringing. It's crazy that I feel this way, and am told I am a racist by white people, but do not have this issue with black people or immigrants.

WFT is going on? Seriously? This has been going on for almost 10years.

by Anonymousreply 106November 22, 2021 5:44 AM

We’re talking about the “movable middle,” R105. The folks you’re describing are lost, we agree on that. The people I am thinking about turned Virginia (& voted for a conservative Black woman as LT. Governor). . I think they are the same ones who voted for Obama twice, then Trump once (2016). I don’t get them, but then again I don’t understand 55% of White women voting for Trump in 2020. How do you describe Black men drifting to Trump in 2020, or the decreasing Latino Dem votes in 2020 in South Texas (Rio Grande Valley)? Things have become more complex (& nuanced) these days IMHO.

by Anonymousreply 107November 22, 2021 5:45 AM

All Bill Maher does is tell Dems and Republicans they suck.

by Anonymousreply 108November 22, 2021 5:54 AM

You lack self-awareness and accountability, R106.

by Anonymousreply 112November 22, 2021 6:04 AM

Bill Maher fucked (or wants to fuck) Ann Coulter. That says all you need to know about his decision making.

by Anonymousreply 113November 22, 2021 6:19 AM

I know this will have me "bastardized" by many of you. However, Bill Maher is right. Listen to what the Mayor-elect of NYC is saying. For those of you in your left wing cocoons and not venturing out beyond your liberal areas, I promise you that come November, the Democrats will take more that a smacking. It is going to be a sea of red.

Because of gerrymandering and the fact that states like ND, SD, NE, WY, MT, etc will remain red, there is no way that the Democrats can stay in power.

So my suggestion is that we begin to listen why so many former democrats are pissed and will vote like Virginia.

Go to purple areas of the country and I promise you will not find supporters of the current Democrats in office.

by Anonymousreply 114November 22, 2021 6:21 AM

[quote] states like ND, SD, NE, WY, MT, etc will remain red

Um, those states were always red with the occasional Democratic Senator.

by Anonymousreply 115November 22, 2021 6:27 AM

R59 No.

First of all, why would you compare Chinese people to white people? White is a race, China is one country, one ethnicity. White is not.

Chinese and Japanese people do not believe they are superior because of their skin color.

White people believe they are superior because of their skin color. They are the Master Race.

I’ve never heard of any other race refer to themselves as the master race.

by Anonymousreply 120November 22, 2021 7:34 AM

Bill has become a right-wing plant playing the conservative narrative driven game by hyping non-issues that push Dem representatives into a defensive position and then complain how the Dems suck by not caring enough about his pet issue: Liberal Cancel Culture.

Conservatives fear guys like Joe Biden, because he refuses to play the GOPs' games. He talks about current issues he wants to tackle and dismisses any stunt by the GOP with a quick remark and moves on. Guys like Bill Maher spend weeks on how the Dems suck at reacting to GOPs' narrative stunts, almost idolizing the GOP. Maher is an entertainer who cares more about clicks, memes, and ratings than about the well-being of the country.

What Liberals need is an actual Liberal media that helps to establish Liberal narratives without reacting to, or humoring, the right-wing narrative drama.

by Anonymousreply 121November 22, 2021 8:20 AM

Bill Maher is dead to me and has been for a very long time. I do not contribute to his ratings or clicks in anyway shape or form.

Fuck him!

And R121 Is absolutely right. Bill knows because he's a wealthy white man. He'll be fine no matter if there's a Democrat or Republican in the white house. And that's most white people as well. They know it'll be mostly none whites who suffer under Republican administrations and to them, that's perfectly fine.

by Anonymousreply 122November 22, 2021 8:33 AM

Does Bill do anal?

by Anonymousreply 123November 22, 2021 8:35 AM

White people wanna shit on you and don't want you to say anything about it. They just want you to take it and be quite. And addressing the problems in America is some how offensive to white America.

This country is in a sad state of affairs.

It really is true. And people say it all the time but, white fragility is Real. They can't stand any type of criticism or truth telling about themselves what so ever. They believe they should never have to answer for any of the horrible shit they've done in this country's history. Everything should be forgotten about and hushed up and we should all just move on.

They wanna be rotten and they don't want to be chastised for the shit they've done and continue to do. Everything is very one sided when it comes to white people. They really don't like the truth and can't take hearing people talk about how they've miss treated none whites.

Their a group of people I will never understand. I don't fuck with them unless I absolutely have to.

by Anonymousreply 126November 22, 2021 8:42 AM

Bill Maher is such a hateful asshole!

So are we to conclude from his rant that White people are too stupid to understand that racism is still a problem and we ALL have to do better for America to be the country we are on paper and reach our full potential?

by Anonymousreply 127November 22, 2021 8:43 AM

Nobody on this earth fears Joe Biden. He is a dementia addled joke.

by Anonymousreply 128November 22, 2021 8:44 AM

America is unsalvagable in my opinion. And all of the blame lies with white America. They refuse to address the dire social issues in this country and until those issues are dealt with. This country will continue to decline.

It's on white America to do better. They're the majority. It's time for them to stand up and be better people. At some point in this country's history. They have to start doing the right thing by everyone. They run the show and the equity has to come from them.

by Anonymousreply 129November 22, 2021 8:46 AM

The same is true for diaper wearing Hair Furor with his syphilitic dementia, , R128. At least Biden has actually won an election. Loser.

by Anonymousreply 130November 22, 2021 8:48 AM

If the Russians ever get Trump. He's going to end up under cement.

by Anonymousreply 131November 22, 2021 8:53 AM

I love how we've had to change the definitions of things like justice and equality for the new thought police. Regular justice won't do. No. We must now have "social justice". Equality is no longer something to strive for. Now it's equity. But go ahead and try to get a clear explanation of those differences and the word salad of practiced bullshit that will spew forth will stun you into a coma. The first things fascists do is fuck with the language. Don't fall for it just because it's coming from the Left. The far Left and the far Right have much more in common than people want to admit.

by Anonymousreply 132November 22, 2021 8:56 AM

R129 is actually a great example of the nebulous bullshit I'm talking about.

by Anonymousreply 133November 22, 2021 8:57 AM

In the mind of R133 White people are the victims and they've never done anything wrong.

by Anonymousreply 134November 22, 2021 9:01 AM

OR maybe they could actually vote on the issues and not worry about how people they hate perceive them? That's what people do in the real world.

by Anonymousreply 135November 22, 2021 9:04 AM

R129 and R133 need to fuck each other. Then please both of you write about it.

by Anonymousreply 136November 22, 2021 9:04 AM

Sucking is not a bad thing, Bill!

by Anonymousreply 137November 22, 2021 9:07 AM

President LBJ warned us about Trump supporters decades ago.

Those people will always vote against what's best for them and the country as a whole. Only to hurt their fellow American citizens who have limited power in this country.

How are Democrats supposed to work to get people like that to vote for them? Those people always vote with a nefarious agenda in mind. When they vote, their intentions are not pure. It's always to piss others off or to hurt people they don't like. And most people understand thus about the "white working class."

by Anonymousreply 138November 22, 2021 9:08 AM

[quote]they will NEVER, EVER get the chance to do any of those things if they don't quit the far left nonsense that does NOT appeal to 30% of voters

That 30% of voters is never going to vote Democratic.

All this talk about Democrats and "far left woke nonsense" is bullshit, but for the sake of argument, even if it was true and Democrats announced en masse tomorrow that they were no longer going to care about civil rights or equality and only care about economic concerns as you guys say they should do, that 30% STILL WOULD NOT VOTE DEMOCRATIC.

Plus, the Democrats would lose the part of their base who votes for them FOR the equal rights, civil rights, social safety net and other things you call "woke nonsense."

That's why all these criticisms and suggestions from dorks like Bill Maher are bullshit: they so obviously wouldn't work that either the people suggesting them are either terminally stupid, or they're trying to sabotage the Democrats.

by Anonymousreply 139November 22, 2021 9:43 AM

What us Liberals need to do more is ignore and dismiss right-wing stunts and propaganda and focus on our own agenda instead of playing catch-up with whatever curveball the right wing is throwing at us to keep our attention on them. The GOP and its supporters only want to cause chaos, fear, doubt, uncertainty, confusion, hate and frustration with their Divide & Conquer schemes. Cooler heads will prevail.

by Anonymousreply 140November 22, 2021 10:24 AM

Black democrats are actually more pragmatic than white liberals. White liberals live in a world that doesn't exist. Black democrats had to save you from Bernie, Liz Warren, and Kamala. If white liberals had their way, one of those three would have gotten the nomination and we'd be in a 2nd Trump term right now. Black people are just asking to be treated fairly and respectably, and for their part of the American dream. Black Twitter is not the black electorate. All of this social justice stuff and making white people feel bad, and trying to rewrite history is all coming from white progressives and young millennials and Gen Z who don't have enough life experience to know any better.

Who in the democratic party exactly said white people Suck? I want to know.

If Bill Maher is going to make outlandish claims like thus, then he needs to say specifically who from the democratic party made a statement like this.

But he's very silent about the fact that Senator Graham recently said, if you're black and conservative. You can go anywhere in the state of South Carolina.

No one ever holds Republicans accountable who actually do say racially crazy shit all the time. And he's not the only one. Senator Tom Cotton said, that slavery was a necessary evil in America. He said this last summer during the George Floyd protests. Bill Maher? Silent!

Democrats are always held to a higher standard. And people love to put words in their mouth. Always. And the overwhelming majority of the time it's bullshit.

Just saying.

[quote] If white liberals had their way, one of those three would have gotten the nomination

Bullshit. They would have had MUCH better showings in the primaries if white liberals wanted any of those three.

You've forgotten that when it looked like Bernie might win after a few first state primaries, the liberals showed up en masse to make sure Biden got the nom instead. The liberals wanted someone who could win.

You're talking about two candidates who were the LEFTIST candidates, not liberal candidates, and a third who doesn't have a solid base of support. You could make a case for leftists coming out at first and rallying behind Sanders but they were quickly outnumbered by the liberals in the party.

by Anonymousreply 148November 22, 2021 1:26 PM

R145 You are right, Republicans do not hold other Republicans accountable. They have their eyes on their goals, and they don't deviate. They understand it's about votes, and their people vote. Democrats constantly have to cater to a base that is all over the place and who have to be convinced to vote. Someone like Stacey Abrams shouldn't have to work so hard to get people to vote for their own interests. But that is the reality of Democrats. Another reality is we need white voters. Constantly focusing on the past does not work. Tearing down statues, putting warnings on old movies, catering to the Trans mob, calling everyone racist, it just turns people off. You can achieve things without making one group villains. And like it or not, Dems need these "villains" to win

by Anonymousreply 149November 22, 2021 1:33 PM

He’s not wrong.

by Anonymousreply 150November 22, 2021 1:35 PM

r14 is right. I'll go right back up to the beginning of the thread. It's the economy this year and in 2024, stupid.

r139: of course there are 30% of voters that will never vote Democratic. Just as there are 30% of voters that will never vote Repub. No one's arguing about what they should think. Learn math: those percentages aren't the ones that determine actual elections.

That would be the 40%, sometimes 50% of the electorate who sit in the general middle, whose votes are always up for grabs every year or at least up for persuasion from where they voted previously. The "swing" voter, many of whom are registered to one of the two parties but don't always vote with them.

And right now, for the upcoming 2022 midterms, they've indicated they've tired of progressives railing about CRT in classrooms (real or not), trans bathrooms and other cultural touchstones. The majority of them KNOW there's still racism and are aware America has a race problem, endlessly reminding them of it isn't on point; they aren't focused on those issues this cycle.

They're concerned about creeping inflation; jobs; the lack of goods on the shelves due to transport issues; healthcare and the ongoing COVID crisis; and unhappy with the messiness they saw unfold in Afghanistan a few months ago. It's practical political reality. It's not about what we WISH our fellow voters would care about, but what they are in reality focused on in the moment. And it's those voters that DETERMINE OUR ELECTIONS.

The same elections that will brings us Kevin fucking McCarthy as Speaker of the House, Marjorie Whore-Green as the cheerleader for the House Majority and therefore our nation, and Herr Trump ever closer to re-gaining his throne - and control over our futures - in 2024. I know what reality *I* live in and what I want to be living in two years from now. Where do you want to be?

by Anonymousreply 151November 22, 2021 1:45 PM

[quote]You sound triggered, [R74]. Too bad white men aren't going to run the show anymore.

You sound sure about that. You mean white men poised to take over our House of Reps, like Kevin McCarthy? Oh yeah that guy. White men like Josh Hawley, Ted Cruz? White-men adjacent like Marjorie Taylor Green and her ilk.

And the epitome of crappy, backwards, "white men", our former President, who is creeping ever-so-closely to re-gaining his seat of power in 2024. Yeah it's too bad white men are so down and out and without a chance of 'running the show' anymore, right? We got this!

by Anonymousreply 152November 22, 2021 1:50 PM

Why is Eric Adams there.

by Anonymousreply 153November 22, 2021 2:11 PM

Because he's an attention whore like most politicians, r153.

by Anonymousreply 154November 22, 2021 2:26 PM

He’s not wrong. This white people suck thing is perpetrated mostly by white people, ironically. It’s driven by social media — you want to show you’re not one of those bad racist white people.

By the way, it’s interesting how difficult my phone makes it for me to write the words “white people”. It either corrects people to “peoples” or even funnier, “oriole.”

by Anonymousreply 155November 22, 2021 2:31 PM

Wow, how did Eric Adams go under that bus? Why shouldn't he be on that show? And it was actually Chris Christie that was on every damn TV show that week. At least Bill Maher got to ask him how he could even think of voting for Trump knowing what a complete asshole he is.

by Anonymousreply 156November 22, 2021 2:45 PM

[quote] Plus, the Democrats would lose the part of their base who votes for them FOR the equal rights, civil rights, social safety net and other things you call "woke nonsense."

What do you mean, lose that part of the base? Where are they going to go? Pull a snit, and turn around and vote Republican? Not hardly.

by Anonymousreply 157November 22, 2021 2:50 PM

According to the alt-right trolls and haters, everything the Dems do is wrong and everything the right-wing does is super effective.

Sure, Joe Biden won. But still the Dems must punch themselves in the nuts over and over for making it so much easier for the next Trump to win, because ... why? Oh, Liberal Cancel Culture! Defund the Police! CRT! The Dems don't go hard enough against their own instead of punching the right-wingers in the gonads. No, punch the Progressives, punch them hard!

Like, you know how you can lose for certain? Focus on everything other than your actual enemy. But they, those Ts and those jihad squad cunts ... they are the worst! THE WORST! Keep dealing with that and Liberal Cancel Culture. Sure road to win, for sure! *rollingeyes*

by Anonymousreply 158November 22, 2021 2:52 PM

What I really resent is constant accountability for Democrats, zero for Republicans. Democrats in Congress are passing conventional infrastructure and social programs bills. They're big, but they're not unconventional. They're not passing the National Pronouns Bill or the Mandatory CRT Bill. They're doing roads and bridges and trying to do child care and medicare. And nobody gives a fuck because somewhere some woke bitch had a meltdown over some fucking thing and suddenly Nancy Pelosi hates all white people.

Meanwhile, with very few exceptions, the Republican Party is down with the violent overthrow of the U.S. government on behalf of the shittiest president in history, and everyone is pretty meh about the whole thing. In fact, the great and good American people are all set to give power to the people who have announced they believe in violence to hold onto power, so that's cool. I'd wonder if too many Republicans are voting for their white identity first and foremost with absolutely no thought about anything else, but that would be evil woke progressivism and we know only the left has any kind of identity politics. Not white people, not evangelicals, not rural Southerners. Nope, no identity politics there, just calm and rational voting for policies.

Black people are the Dems' most reliable voters. They may not be a whole lot in the US but they're the winning edge in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan. If Dems have a prayer to win FL, TX or NC, they need huge black turnout. Black voters are why VA is blue-ish. Same thing with NV.

You may say catering to Black voters turns off white ones and maybe it does. Repigs catering to right-wing kooks (who are a tiny fraction of the voting pubic) turns off moderates. And yet no one on DL wrings their hands over that. Interesting. I wonder why?

by Anonymousreply 166November 22, 2021 3:52 PM

You should have realized that by the fact that I FUCKING QUOTED THEM. That's the only reason I even said anything about 30%, because I was responding to someone who used that figure, and I doubt they meant it literally.

Tell me to "learn math" all you want, the fact is that you, like every other windbag on this stupid forum, wanted to make a point but don't have the ability to make that point on its own, you have to deliberately misrepresent someone else's post, make some insults, act like a condescending boor, and pretend like this is a contest you want to win.

People constantly talk about the demographic decline of whites but fail to note that blacks are also a diminishing demographic. America is becoming more Latino and Asian and don't expect Latinos to be reliably democrat voters in the future. Non-white people are not a monolith whose values and interest align with black Americans.

by Anonymousreply 173November 22, 2021 4:05 PM

R158, you’re ignoring the reality on the ground — that elections in the USA are won and lost by swaying people who aren’t that political into voting for you.

The gratuitously preachy, scoldy showboating of neo-progressivism is pushing those people into the arms of the rightwing. That’s why trump won in 2016. People often don’t like the specific things he’s saying, but they like the fact that he ignores the pressure from these insufferable sanctimonious lefties in saying it.

This is not rocket science. In order to sway people, don’t go out of your way to insult and blame them. But this seems like a very difficult concept for millennials and Gen z to grasp, perhaps because they’ve always lived their lives by going from one temper tantrum to the next. But they’re buying themselves a future under rightwing strongmen if they keep it up.

by Anonymousreply 174November 22, 2021 4:11 PM

Biden barely won. He needs to stick to the middle of the road. Trump only lost because of Covid and overt racism

He's going to need every voter he can get. He can not afford to pander to the lunatic fringe on the left. Half of them are too damned lazy to even vote

White, middle aged people VOTE, in droves. The next repug candidate will be a whole lot smarter than trump. They won't be overtly racist. They'll be like the guy in Virginia and play it middle of the road until they are elected. And they won't leave office.

White, college educated upper middle class white people are reliable Democrat voters. I suspect Democrats will shed working class Latino voters faster than they will lose support from the so called "bobos", who revel in the 'guilt porn' message that white people are evil and responsible for every ill in the world. Democrats are becoming the party of rich urban whites and black activists. None of their 'Latinx' messaging is appealing to 99% of Latinos.

by Anonymousreply 177November 22, 2021 4:21 PM

Latinos aren’t all the same. The Latinos in California are strong Democrats, while in Florida the Cubans go Republican and have different values. They aren’t a cohesive group like Black people or even Asians.

Jair Bolsonaro is more of a fascist than Trump ever was and he's the president of the most 'diverse' country on earth. Chile is on the path to electing a Pinochet praising hard right Catholic with 9 children. Too many liberals think non-white = liberal.

by Anonymousreply 179November 22, 2021 4:30 PM

R178 Latinos are diverse, they also are not as wedded to party politics as blacks or whites are, thus they have more swing voters per capita.

Has there ever been an election forecast this early in the cycle? When Obama got slammed by the Tea Party, Republicans also took Virginia, but by 18 points rather than 2. They hadn’t won statewide here until the last election.

Inflation is a concern, but will it be next summer? What will Covid look like? Will full employment return? Voters tend to remember the last six months when they go to vote.

The only thing whites are being victimized by is their own greed, selfishness and lack of empathy. The Trump presidency is a great example of that.

60+ yrs after the Civil Rights Movement and nonwhites are still fighting the same battles. How do you stop the national conversation about race and racism (that's not really being had) by which whites are so greatly inconvenienced. Stop being racist and end racism. Its that simple. Then no more asinine conversations about how uncomfortable a conversation about someone else's oppression made you feel or all the other idiotic conversations about preserving white feelings. Of course whites are not going to stop nor end something from which they believe they benefit. Instead they will fight to maintain the status quo and continue playing victim. Oppressed and victimized by these inconvenient conversation.

The Democratic coalition =

90% of the black vote

70% of the Asian vote

70% of the Hispanic vote

40% of the white vote.

White Americans are going to have to grow up and move past the zero sum mentality. Its destroying this country.

[quote] Trump will run in 2024.

I totally disagree. Trump won't run for fear of losing again. He can claim the election was rigged against him once, but he'll have a tough time selling that a second time. Instead, he'll dangle the possibility of a run for as long as possible to fundraise off of it and then at the last minute announce he's decided not to run because it's clear the system is rigged. The upside is that by announcing the system is rigged, he will suppress Republican turnout. He'll also be lukewarm on whomever the Republican nominee is by saying "they're okay, but they're no Trump," which will also help the Dems. That being said, the Dems still have an uphill battle given the state of the country right now.

r198 Obama won his races 10 and 14 years ago. That's a lifetime in political terms. Hell TWO years is a veritable century; look how wildly Biden's favorability ratings have shifted all over the place in this past year alone. There is no firm alliance for anyone on the middle or the left, at least not firm enough to guarantee a win over the utterly crazy - but more stable in terms of support numbers - right wing.

[quote]According to the alt-right trolls and haters, everything the Dems do is wrong and everything the right-wing does is super effective.

Come on. No not everything the Dems are doing is wrong, they are doing much right but they need to FOCUS on what's important to voters this cycle. The Right is hardly "super effective", they are a bunch of dolts; but they stick to the same message with their base while also fine-tuning it and honing into the crucial, disaffected swing voter bloc that will give them victories.

It's about what matters to win the election, in practical terms. There should be no purity tests for the current party in-power (Dems), who always tend to lose seats and control during mid-term cycles. Coalition-building between their reliable base with uncertain swing moderates and independents, is what will win.

by Anonymousreply 200November 22, 2021 5:40 PM

[quote] [R182] = the reason whites left the Democratic Party in droves. Keep it up.

The vast majority of white voters have voted Republican for the past 60+ yrs and they do so at both the nation's and their own peril. Again the Trump presidency is a great example of that (600,000 dead + a recession). The GW Bush presidency is also a great example of that ( the trillion dollar Iraq war + the greatest economic crisis since The Great Depression). Poor and middle class whites vote Republican because they are poorly educated ignorant bigots. That's not going to change. Reagan ran against "welfare queens", GW Bush ran against gay marriage. Trump ran against immigrants. Same trickle down policies that only benefit the rich. Same bullshit different day. CRT is the Republican Party's newest manufactured wedge issue. White voters are not going to change. They would rather burn this nation to the ground, rather than have true equality and they are successfully doing just that.

You misunderstood my point. Regardless of when President Obama won and whatever other nonsense you just spit out. Democrats still need to meet those same numbers to win.

90% black vote

70% of the Hispanic vote

70% of the Asian vote

40% of the white vote

by Anonymousreply 202November 22, 2021 5:56 PM

They need to meet the numbers r202, but not at all necessarily in those exact proportions listed. Many of those same voting blocs have shifted even in the past two years and the percentages can't be guaranteed. 70% of Hispanics isn't guaranteed to Dems; how and where will they make up the loss? Same with 90% of the black vote, they need to stop assuming full compliance there. It's not a monolithic group at all.

Let's not get started on 40% of whites. The most slippery bloc of the bunch. Point is: alliances and issue focal points shift rapidly even from main election to midterms two years later. We're in a major shift right now.

Nothing in this world is guaranteed. I've made no claims about guarantees. That should be obvious. The fact that the numbers don't have to be "exact." Should also be obvious. They likely won't have those same proportions in 2022 or 24, and if they lose number/shares of some groups to Repubs or non-voters, will have to make it up in the others somehow. Tricky.

What r41 said times 100. But actually that’s also what Maher is saying too, if you actually pay attention - maybe it’s more clear when he goes on other shows or when he performs. Bread and butter issues - that’s what most Dems want and would really come out to vote for (and enough in the center too), but the vocal Twitter set distorts the messaging. He’s right about this.

by Anonymousreply 211November 22, 2021 8:48 PM

“Bread and butter issues” = white, straight Xtian male concerns- the default, as defined by white men, who also get to define everyone else’s concerns.

by Anonymousreply 212November 23, 2021 12:44 AM

And what are your concerns, R212? Besides being a self-righteous asshole, of course.

by Anonymousreply 213November 23, 2021 12:54 AM

Just those divisive, fringe issues like voting rights, police oversight, reproductive rights, universal healthcare...

by Anonymousreply 214November 23, 2021 1:38 AM

Who is not allowed to vote? And don't lie, I've lived in a very diverse area for along time, and I've seen the fliers that are handed out to people living in this area, including a translation that is basically telling people how to and who to vote for. I still have one of the fliers. So fuck with me on this issue.

Police? Oh in "high crime" areas? Again, this isn't a police issue. I'm not saying there aren't issues with the criminal justice system, but to paint these areas suffering because of police is absolutely laughable. The high crime area part comes for a good reason. THERE IS A LOT OF CRIME, and the police are not the cause.

I don't care about reproductive rights at this point quite frankly. I used to, but there's way too much going on. You don't care about me, well, back at you. That's how I feel with this issue currently.

by Anonymousreply 254November 24, 2021 3:07 AM

I agree with that R254—the problem, though, is that the system is broken and unfair and the only ones who can fix it are white people, even those who didn't have a hand in creating the system. Unfortunately, too many suggestions for "fixing the system" involve white people losing opportunities, which is just not a realistic thing to expect them to support en masse. And, sure, some will claim that white people refusing to make sacrifices is a sign of their inherent racism. But that's simply not true—it's a sign of human fucking nature. If affirmative action mandated that every company hire X number of Canadians or every university admit X number of Norwegians, white Americans wouldn't like that any better. No one of any race or from any country likes feeling that an opportunity has been taken from them. And a bunch of name calling and scolding by activists isn't gonna change that.

by Anonymousreply 255November 24, 2021 3:39 AM

I'm fine with black people and other races having a mandated number of college spots or job opportunities or anything else. They were denied for hundreds of years, it's only fair.

by Anonymousreply 256November 24, 2021 4:00 AM

That’s your privilege talking, 256.

by Anonymousreply 257November 24, 2021 4:18 AM

NO, R256, "they " were not denied. Their ancestors might have been, but THEY have not. POC in 2021 have every opportunity that anyone else has. That's the problem with attempting to right past wrongs. You can't make it up to the people who were once enslaved (and are now long dead) by rewarding their great great great great grandchildren now and punishing the great great great grandchildren of dirt poor immigrants who never owned a slave. Neither had anything to do with the awful injustices of the past.

by Anonymousreply 258November 24, 2021 10:03 AM

The reality is that whenever it looks like any benefit is going to black people, white people mobilize in opposition. Ronald Reagan talked about a (made up) “welfare queen” in Chicago who lived off “your” tax dollars. No one had any problem understanding the racial complications.

Opposition to social programs increases when white people sense it will benefit black people. White women before Roe were encouraged to put their children up for adoption, black women were given welfare and encouraged to have their tubes tied. A white high school drop out, on average, makes more money than a black college graduate. This is still a system that benefits one race, but just doesn’t make it explicit.

I don’t know the solution. Reparations are overdue, and it seems harsh to let the clock run out on the evils of slavery. But how do you fairly fund it? Who do you give it to? White people now don’t feel responsible, and most are not open to any discussion of racism that include the present no matter how loudly the inequitable economics speak the truth.

But white Americans have always resisted collective responsibility, so any solution is likely to result in blowback that is even more counterproductive.

by Anonymousreply 259November 24, 2021 11:30 AM

Let reparations happen, and watch crime and murder skyrocket. Especially in white suburban neighborhoods…

by Anonymousreply 260November 24, 2021 11:48 AM

Huh, r260? Who is going to commit these crimes and how would they be connected to reparations???

by Anonymousreply 261November 24, 2021 11:51 AM

Blacks. When they move into MY neighborhood!!!

by Anonymousreply 262November 24, 2021 11:53 AM

They already are and it’s time to move out. Not safe.

by Anonymousreply 263November 24, 2021 11:54 AM

You must live in a shitty neighborhood full of racists, r262. I live in a mixed Northern Virginia neighborhood. The black neighbors take great care of their property. The white conservatives have weeds all over their lawn, clog the street rather than park In the garage, and resist just about anything that will help their neighbors. Living next door to a Republican lobbyist is far from bliss.

by Anonymousreply 264November 24, 2021 12:00 PM

R264/blue deplorable—I gave you an honest answer and you gave nothing but attacks. Learn civility. Take care.

by Anonymousreply 265November 24, 2021 12:05 PM

Sorry if I found your “honest answer” (that black people will be violent when entrusted with money) to be wildly offensive. Learn civility. Take care.

[quote]But black Americans have always resisted any responsibility for their own life circumstances.

Fixed if for you, R259.

by Anonymousreply 267November 24, 2021 12:13 PM

Maybe that's true down south, R264, but certainly not in the northeast. You can tell the black neighborhoods instantly because of the lack of property maintenance. When you drive through areas of the city it is abundantly clear who takes care of their properties (white, asian, latino) and who doesn't (black)----always.

by Anonymousreply 268November 24, 2021 12:16 PM

Yes, R268. The differences between Detroit and Midwest Detroit (Mexicantown) are stark. Mexicantown is spotless.

by Anonymousreply 269November 24, 2021 12:19 PM

R141 Please go speak at the next Democratic Party Convention, or better yet, go speak on MSNBC tonight! The Democratic Party desperately needs your help. I agree with every thing you said!

White liberals need a wake up call. Hillary's biggest mistake in 2016 was allowing Bernie to drag her to the FAR LEFT. She gave him legitimacy in a time when she should not have. No way in hell was he getting the nomination. Clearly where Bernie was/is, was not where the party was/is nor is it where the country was/is as a whole.

White liberals in the Democratic Party are constantly consumed by the FAR left wing of the party (who don't even call themselves Democrats by the way - they wanna be "progressives" or independents or socialists). Democrats cater to that small sliver of society which doesn't represent anyone but themselves and their special interests. It's more White grievance. It is sometimes hard to tell the Far Left from Republicans.

Throughout the 2020 Democratic Primary, the Far Left called Black Democrats NeoLibs, "The Establishment" and worse because they did not fall for the Far Left's losing arguments.

The Far left is by and large composed of White people who don't know their ass from a hole in the ground. They claim to speak for POC. They don't. They claim to want equal rights for POC. They don't. All their policies are selfish and only appeal to them. All their slogans "defund the police" etc. are inflammatory and are not what most Democrats want.

Black people DID save America from a 2d Trump term by saying "HELL NO" to Bernie and Liz and now the idiots in Congress are failing to protect voting rights for Black people. WTF? That should have been the number two priority (only behind handling the pandemic) for this session of Congress.

The Democratic Party messaging is HORRIBLE which is why it hasn't won the White vote in over 50 years. Most White people vote Republican. Democrats need a coalition of voters to gain and maintain power, so why would they not be doing everything they can to make sure POC can vote? Why are they dragging their feet? This should be a no brainer.

But Democrats ALWAYS fall for the divide and conquer. Most of the Far Left (the ones who actually vote) will eventually come home and vote for the Democratic Party candidate but by then they will have already lost the election for Democrats. The Far Left will have aided the Republicans in having stirred up so much shit by then that the White Liberals and White Independents are so confused about what Democrats stand for that they end up voting third party, staying home, or worse, voting republican. And then the POC are so pissed by the bullshit stirred up by the Far Left that "Get Out The Vote" campaigns in communities of color becomes an uphill climb. How can they tell POC to vote for the Democrat when the policies thrown around in the campaign by the Far Left clearly do not support POC?

Bill Maher is an asshole. Nobody is telling White people they suck.

Democrats are saying that you can't cherry pick the parts of history you are going to discuss. Those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it.

We are repeating the 1960s RIGHT NOW! Unfortunately, there will be a lot more unnecessary pain and bloodshed that this country will have to go through (for all races) because the GOP is choosing to lie about the truth and the Democratic Party seems not willing (or at least is powerless) to stop them.

America has a policy of not negotiating with terrorists except when they are Domestic Terrorists. In those instances the policy is to coddle and appease racist White people. Don't speak the truth and run the risk of offending them.

January 6th was a warning shot. We are on our way to Civil War. If we expect to have a country at the end of the war, then we better make sure that the victor takes ALL the spoils.

And no fucking statues honoring the TRAITORS this time!

by Anonymousreply 270November 24, 2021 1:02 PM

When will progress be enough? The loudest contingent screaming about social justice, equity instead of equality, reparations, etc. will never acknowledge the absolutely huge progress made on racial issues in the last century. Why is that progress completely discounted? Beyond the absolute idiotic idea of holding current citizens responsible for the acts of their long dead ancestors, one of the main problems with any talk of reparations is that even if they did happen, it would change nothing. Even that wouldn't be enough.

Dwelling in the past is clouding the ability to deal with the real issues affecting racial issues now. Slavery ended a century and a half ago. It's time to let it go. Start focusing on people who are alive who were actually affected by Jim Crow not as a legacy of slavery but as a problem to be dealt with now with the living victims. That goes for everything. Deal with the real living victims now and what is happening to them. The moment you bring up blaming white people for the crimes our ancestors committed over a century ago, white people check out of the conversation because it's a stupid game of blame at that point that can't be won and it clouds the actual problems in society.

by Anonymousreply 271November 24, 2021 6:31 PM

My realtor has told me horror stories of going into city homes where tenants live in absolute filth. Animal feces all over the floor that no one ever picks it up. They actually tell you to "watch your step". Kids and pets are living this way. It's sickening.

Will they clean up the dog shit in their living rooms if they get reparations?

I have news for you if you think that extremists will ever get us to that land you dream of. They do not have one clue how to achieve these goals.

by Anonymousreply 274November 24, 2021 9:58 PM

Again, this weird belief all over this thread that Democrats actually in power, in Congress, the White House, state offices, are spending ALL their time on trans issues and symbolic things and shutting down police departments. That is not the case. I know that is the script. I know that is the narrative. I know that is what people seem to need to believe deep down in their souls. But it is not actually the case.

And as for "when will progress be enough"? When will income inequality be enough? When 1% have 99% of all income, and everyone else is literally a serf? Will it be enough then? Is anyone allowed to give a shit about it before we get to that point?

No majority population can have this much internalised hatred of it’s past and present and survive , it just can’t. You will either have the majority flip and suddenly all rights will be taken away or you slip into obscurity.

Lecturing the majority as though they were some some minority without any power is frankly insane. To do so in a country with as many guns as you do is a powder keg.

To be frank what makes you know you are living in a civilised Western country and that huge progress has been made is the fact that you are not in a bloodbath and you can still speak out. No Third World country would have allowed this to occur .

R271 What you are failing (or maybe refusing) to recognize is that ALL of the Discriminatory problems of Jim Crow and Slavery affect EVERY BLACK CITIZEN of the US TODAY!

Why is full equality so offensive to so many White people. You act like Black people should be grateful that they are not still being beaten, enslaved and stuffed in cages at night. You want a cookie for that? You want credit for not using the "N" word? Do you think that means a White person is not racist? Or is it because a lot of White people don't use that specific term publicly that America is not a racist country? WTF? I mean what the actual fuck?

by Anonymousreply 286November 25, 2021 10:28 AM

R271 [PART 2]

White people have had more than enough time to acknowledge that Black people are equal to White people and that Black lives do in fact MATTER. The time for gradually "tolerating" Black people is over. It's time for full acceptance. Black people have been patiently waiting since 1865 for America to acknowledge that slavery is indeed over. Gradualism never really worked because as soon as a White person gets insecure they immediately Blame Black people and the Black people's rights are violated. The racism of yesterday kicks in - just like putting on an old pair of shoes.

White people are too comfortable snorting their own supply and living in their own echo chamber that they don't want to acknowledge that Black people are not treated equally in this country. They want to put on blinders. I even can hear you saying "how much do we have to do to shut them up." How about the golden rule? Treat people the way you would want to be treated! Or better yet, just follow the Constitution which States all men [and women] are created equal with certain inalienable rights. It's not that difficult.

And who is blaming White people for what their ancestors did? Nobody is doing that. I have NEVER heard anybody even say that except Fox News hosts.

by Anonymousreply 287November 25, 2021 10:31 AM

R271 [PART 3]

But you have got to realize that Black people don't want to be treated like their ancestors either. A lot of White people think doing the bare minimum should be enough "because they are just second class citizens anyway." That is when Black people check out of the conversation, especially young people. They seem to be a lot less patient in "waiting" for their civil rights the way they parents did. They see there is no intent for many White people to acknowledge equality. Do you really think Black people are that stupid?

Now, you mentioned reparations. YES! Of COURSE some form of reparations ARE REQUIRED. You can't move on to the future until you have effectively had closure on the past. It must be done to acknowledge that something awful (GOVERNMENT SANCTIONED) happened and as a country we have got to make it right.

Reparations has been a part of the restoration process for every other group mistreated in the United States. Hundreds of years of slavery would count as mistreatment correct? WHY is there such a staunch resistance to do ANYTHING to help lessen discrimination against Black people? You need to start with that question before going into cost or anything else. White people won't even talk about it. Why is that?

Who knows what the reparations should be. After hundreds of years of enslavement, beating, imprisoning, raping, robbing, mutilation lynching and murdering, etc, there is no amount of money that can fully compensate for that and the continued damage flowing from that.

White people seem to think that all the baggage associated with slavery ended in 1865. It did not! And the DISCRIMINATION from that previous consideration (which by the way is ILLEGAL, still lingers unabashed to this day!). That is the BIGGEST problem!

by Anonymousreply 288November 25, 2021 10:33 AM

R271 AND R279 (All of this is addressed to you too - your comment was just to stupid to warrant addressing you separately) [PART 4]

But maybe a large part of the reparations could consist of amending the Constitution and amending US law to prevent the further mistreatment of Black people. Obviously previous amendments and laws incrementally giving Black people rights on par with White people has not worked. Something has got to give.

Racial Discrimination is a problem that was created by White people and continues to flow from White People. It is up to White people to resolve it. Racism is illogical and counterproductive to the advancement of a modern society.

Slavery nor discrimination is ever going to be "acceptable" to Black people. So unless or until that is effectively dealt with then it is always going to be a source of strife for this nation. Hollering about all that White people have begrudgingly "already done" doesn't cut it. Discrimination is STILL glaringly and harmful. Unless and until White people realize enough has not been done then you can count on masses of people inside and outside America saying the United States is a racist country.

And in case I was not clear: Equality or nothing. Black people deserve that, the same as everyone else.

A sprinkling of "Crumbs" of civil rights is not enough!

by Anonymousreply 289November 25, 2021 10:37 AM

[quote]Reparations are overdue, and it seems harsh to let the clock run out on the evils of slavery. But how do you fairly fund it? Who do you give it to?

Reparations are too late, to be honest. There are probably millions of people like me who have both slave owners (dad's father's side of the family) and slaves (dad's mother's side of the family) in their ancestry, along with people who had nothing to do with it (mom's side of the family who came over from Germany in the 1910s.)

There's no way the government could parcel out reparations in a huge, melting-pot country like this.

It's also cosmically stupid for people to say people these days have nothing to do with slavery, because slavery and Jim Crow and racism has absolutely affected people still alive. My dad's father's sister just died five years ago and she and her husband were multi-millionaires, having started their married life with tons of family money that came directly from the slave trade. They had no kids so all that money went to a new building at a Midwestern university, completed just before the pandemic started.

But you want me to think that slavery is over and done with and way in the past? I'm looking at photos right now of a brand new building that was built from money earned from slave trading.

by Anonymousreply 291November 25, 2021 4:55 PM

I am not r290, and think their tirade is a lot of hot air that won’t lead to equality, but let’s start with: intergenerational wealth, racial profiling, redlining, underinvestment in schools. The numbers don’t lie.

by Anonymousreply 292November 25, 2021 5:55 PM

[quote]underinvestment in schools

Oh my sides. You can't solve complex social problems "in the schools". It's not the job of teachers to be social workers or to raise children. Kids who come from dysfunctional homes won't thrive no matter how much money you throw at the schools. And they've gotten millions. Nothing changes.

The reason kids in suburban schools do so well is because they have active, involved parents, good role models who install strong values and they live in safe communities. It's not all about money.

One thing that helped Democrats in the Clinton era was that Republicans were seen as joyless, moralizing scolds who couldn’t mind their own business. Now, that’s the Democrats’ problem.

by Anonymousreply 295November 26, 2021 3:01 AM

Maybe that's the point, they don't want to win.

How is it anyone thinks "we the people" still have a functioning government? The Oligarchs own the politicians, money rules campaigns. The Democrats aren't a real party, they just exist to give the illusion there is a choice. Even when they get power they still appoint the same people to run agencies that the GOP does. Obama still appointed people from Wall Street, Monsanto to positions of power. He still indulged the MIC.

Although there are some politicians who run as Democrats that promote and fight for policies that benefit the 99% the party itself it all about helping to to do bidding of authoritarians and Oligarchs.

by Anonymousreply 298November 26, 2021 10:08 AM

Reparations were implemented in a different form decades ago via social and non-discrimination/integration schemes. That's the only way you can attack the lingering taint of slavery and discrimination. You implement preferences and ensure that official and sometimes de facto discriminatory practices are ended and prevented in future with enforcement. Once you start to level the playing field (equality not equity) you give extra assistance to those who still need assistance.

All these things were done. Some not as successfully as others and some still need enforcement and continued implementation.

One of the problems is once you have leveled the playing field and you still see continued problems that stand in the way of individual progress, addressing that attempting a resolution requires a cold, hard look at issues many people refuse to see or are too uncomfortable or fearful to address. There is a growing body of African Americans who do recognize these issues and are willing to speak out despite being labeled self-haters or Oreos. I see though that they are getting more vocal and refusing to be intimidated by a perhaps well-meaning but useless chorus of naysayers.

by Anonymousreply 299November 26, 2021 4:57 PM

You never really "level the playing field." It's a nice thought and a decent ideal. But it has never really been true, and will probably never really be true. Certain types, the rich obviously, but also certain other types, racial, class-based, maybe religious, even just better looking people, however defined, these will have advantages, and others will not. Equality of Opportunity not Equality of Results has always been a polite lie.

In the end, I think we can only do some kind of partial leveling through redistribution, and some collective goods. And I am completely indifferent to the trauma of rich people having to live on 100 million dollars rather than 200 million.

by Anonymousreply 300November 26, 2021 5:19 PM

by Anonymousreply 301November 26, 2021 6:14 PM

No not at all r301. In fact, pretty much the opposite. I just accept that there are certain realities, and have decided not to accept certain fantasies. There will always be some income inequality and some unfairness and the rest of it. We can make life easier for those who aren't in the lucky sperm club, however, and we should do that. We don't need to confiscate all wealth, or have a completely communist society. But we can certainly have a wealth tax and some redistribution from the top to the bottom.

by Anonymousreply 302November 26, 2021 6:18 PM

You do know what the more practical and fair reality for those who aren't born in the lucky sperm club is? Women should keep their legs closed until they're married to a man who is a good provider. Quite frankly the more I hear about "wealth distribution" and not a "completely" communist society, the more I see the the pragmatic back to basics viewpoint. I'm over this shit.

by Anonymousreply 310November 26, 2021 10:58 PM

by Anonymousreply 319November 27, 2021 3:21 PM

[Quote]when you tell poor white people who struggle to make ends meet about how privileged they are even when compared to people like Obama or Oprah, it creates a dissonance that cannot be overcome by any of your nuanced explanations.

EVERYBODY knows that Obama and Oprah are not the norm for Black America. When I hear arguments like this it reinforces the concept that America is more concerned about "White Comfort" in LIES rather than telling the cold hard truth.

Obama and Oprah are not the reason there are poor White people in America. FULL STOP! That is a Stop pushing that is a fucking LIE. Rich Black people are not the norm in America.

There are 20.27 Millionaires and 788 Billionaires in the US. Most of these people are White. That is not to mention all the many wholly owned White multi-billion dollar corporations in the US.

Two things can be true at the same time. There can be (AND ARE) BOTH racism and classism issues in America. To say it is all about economics and deny that racism is a HUGE problem in America for Black and Brown people is insulting and serves to further divide people who should be united.

How about you tell struggling White people the same thing you tell struggling Black people: There is a problem with racism and classism and the Democratic party is going to work on both of them?

It's like the GOP wants to Blame the VICTIM. Because a small number of Black people slipped through the cracks of being well above the poverty line doesn't mean that those people are not STILL fighting against a system not designed by or for them and is in many ways rooting for their failure. And doesn't mean that many more who, despite their best efforts, are still struggling due to racism.

Dealing solely with classism and not racism will STILL leave Black people at a sever disadvantage based on the color of their skin. Make if fair for everyone!

Stop buying into the divide and conquer mentality of the GOP. White Fragility is a real thing because the GOP and MSM tells us every day that it is a thing. How often are we forced to hear about what the "Trump voter" thinks as if that is the only opinion in America that matters? Buying the propaganda and helping propel lies only makes the GOP richer and more powerful and everyone else poorer, sicker and weaker.

TELL THE FUCKING TRUTH!

BTW, Maher is not a Democrat. I don't know why anyone who in anyway leans left would even waste time watching him.

[Quote]They care more about being accused of racism than they do about racism itself.

R27 Say it again and louder for the people asleep in the back!

by Anonymousreply 321November 27, 2021 6:02 PM

Yes, because if you say it loudly, it must be true.

by Anonymousreply 322November 27, 2021 6:07 PM

No R322, say it louder because it IS TRUE!

by Anonymousreply 323November 27, 2021 6:20 PM

Then it must be true!

by Anonymousreply 324November 27, 2021 6:27 PM

[quote]Rich Black people are not the norm in America.

No, the average citizen in America is a poor white person but keep telling that huge group how privileged they are and watch where it gets you. Some of you just don't get it.

by Anonymousreply 325November 27, 2021 6:36 PM

Give billionaires another tax cut. That will make things better for poor white people.

by Anonymousreply 326November 27, 2021 6:40 PM

I WW’d the quote at R325 not R325 itself. We need an un-WW feature.

by Anonymousreply 327November 27, 2021 7:02 PM

[quote]racism is a HUGE problem in America for Black and Brown people

The HUGE problem is lousy parenting, inability to delay gratification, emotional immaturity, lack of reverence for education etc and etc.

The HUGE problem is cultural....not racial.

by Anonymousreply 328November 27, 2021 7:13 PM

R328, don't you know, getting an education is "acting white". Which, as a white person, is hilarious because 95% of white people are uneducated fucking morons.

by Anonymousreply 329November 27, 2021 7:17 PM

R329 I've been hearing the same music about how America is RACIST!!! for well over 50 years now. Goes in one ear and out the other...

Meanwhile the demographics with the highest incomes in the US are non-white.

Gee, how did that happen?

Median household income whites: $65,902

Indian Americans: $135,809

Filipino Americans: 100,273

Pakistani Americans: $87,509

Turkish Americans: $85,812

Chinese Americans: $85,424

Vietnamese Americans: $72,161

And so on.

But keep shoveling the bullshit about RACISM!!!

All it does is INSTILL a LOSER mentality in people. Losers for ever.

by Anonymousreply 330November 27, 2021 7:32 PM

R329 That post was not directed to you, but to R320

by Anonymousreply 331November 27, 2021 7:34 PM

R330, funny how you omit African American and Latino with “and so on” because they are significantly lower than whites. The reasons are complex, but let’s start that these are not communities of high-skilled immigrants.

by Anonymousreply 332November 27, 2021 7:43 PM

R332 The whole point was to show their success in comparison to whites.

Your pathetic cries of RACISM!!! are not standing in their way. They and their children have no time for it.

by Anonymousreply 333November 27, 2021 7:52 PM

"In 2018, Nigerian-Americans had a median household income of $68,658"

by Anonymousreply 334November 27, 2021 7:54 PM

R332 Dear, you become "high-skilled " by studying hard and applying yourself. Parents raise children who become "high-skilled" because they believe in education and discipline.

by Anonymousreply 335November 27, 2021 7:58 PM

You don’t succeed in telling people to loath their History and themselves and then hope that somehow things will improve for everyone else. It won’t happen. All that will occur is when Americans are eventually conquered no one lift a finger and will feel they deserve it. Then in 30 years when there are no Gay Rights and we live under real tyranny, we may think longingly to a past when we fucked the whole thing up by listening to people telling us how evil we were.

by Anonymousreply 336November 27, 2021 11:32 PM

R325, NO! YOU just don't get it. Black and Brown people are tired of being the sacrificial lamb so White people can continue their lies of superiority.

Are you really in some kind of alternate reality where you believe most Black people are rich? Most Black people in America are poor. Why do you feel the need to divide the country?

Democrats have not won the White vote in decades. Democrats lying to them now isn't gonna get you one White vote. They've already got the Republicans doing that, but go ahead and keep pissing off the Black and Brown people and not protecting the right to vote and see how fast America becomes a third world country.

Keep Blaming Black people for your White victimhood while rich White people get richer and richer! Blame the Black people rhetoric is working out real nice for poor and middle class White people isn't it?

by Anonymousreply 337November 28, 2021 3:33 AM

R328 Why not just sign your post... "I am A RACIST ASSHOLE!" That certainly sums up the contents of everything your ignorant White Trash Ass Said!

by Anonymousreply 338November 28, 2021 3:36 AM

Not sure what year this is from

[quote] The poverty rate for native born and naturalized whites is identical (9.6%). On the other hand, the poverty rate for naturalized blacks is 11.8% compared to 25.1% for native born blacks, suggesting race alone does not explain income disparity. Not all minorities have low incomes.

This is from Sept 20, 2020

[quote] The figure shows that for Blacks, the poverty rate of 18.8% in 2019 was the lowest rate observed since poverty estimates were first produced for this group for 1959. The previous low for this group was 20.8% in 2018.

by Anonymousreply 339November 28, 2021 3:40 AM

R337, you lose your entire argument in your first sentence. Then, you just reinforce that you are emotionally unstable with the rest of the post. No one said that black people are rich. Are you stupid? Can you read? Can you even think for yourself without just yelling crap you've heard other people say for decades?

This isn't a war between black and white. It's a war between rich and poor. The rich want to keep the poor blacks blaming the poor whites and the poor whites hating the poor blacks so no one pays any attention to them stealing from both of us.

And, dear, it is the DEMOCRATS who are fighting for voting rights in case you haven't been paying attention.

by Anonymousreply 340November 28, 2021 3:41 AM

R338, your little rant is amusing to me. Please continue so the adults can continue the actual conversation. I'm patting you on the top of your little head as I type.

by Anonymousreply 341November 28, 2021 3:47 AM

R340 Apparently it is your dumb ass that can't read. I never said anything about a war. Are you fucking crazy?

Democrats need to stick together and stop denying racism.

If Democrats were fighting for equal voting rights that would have been a priority over infrastructure.

You quoted my statement that the average Black person is not rich. You tried to flip the script and talk about the average poor White person in America being poor when that is NOT what I was even talking about. Stop trying to twist the words of others to fit your narrative.

You rather push White victimhood than acknowledge racism in America.

Until you stop denying reality don't fucking talk to me. You are too stupid to be here.

by Anonymousreply 342November 28, 2021 3:47 AM

R339, stop using your facts! It makes the victimhood cult sad.

by Anonymousreply 343November 28, 2021 3:49 AM

R341 I am shitting in your open mouth... that is obviously the best use for your mouth.

by Anonymousreply 344November 28, 2021 3:49 AM

R344 is exactly the level of discourse I expect from someone like you. Thank you for continuing to not only amuse me but prove me correct as well.

by Anonymousreply 345November 28, 2021 3:52 AM

[quote]White Fragility is a real thing

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

by Anonymousreply 346November 28, 2021 5:33 AM

R345 And you are the same clown who at 328 went on an ignorant (yet predictable, uninspired, and unoriginal) "paint by numbers" racist rant about Black and Brown people? You've added nothing to this conversation Ma'am!

Shut the fuck up! That's the only answer a whiny snot-nosed intentionally obtuse asshole like you deserves. Everyone sees through your continued spewing of condescending bullshit! Don't try to pretend now that you ever wanted any intelligent discourse!

by Anonymousreply 347November 28, 2021 11:37 AM

R346 If you're that fragile and your widdough fee fees are so hurt by what one person on an anonymous chat board said that you are now changing parties, then you were never with the Democrats in the first place! LOL

That White Fragility really worked out for you under Trump huh? I remember how he: made all of you barefoot, toothless and uneducated (and immoral) hillbillies millionaires; sent all of the Black and Brown people "BACK HOME" to "THEIR" shithole countries and lined the streets with gold and arranged for manna to flow from heaven just for you! Right?

Oh wait... NONE of that ever happened! OOPS! You're in exactly your same position (if not a little worse off being that 800K people are dead and u were confined to your house for a year) because Trump never gave a shit about people like you! Trump used you to help himself and (collaterally) the 1% of America become even MORE WEALTHY! HAHAHAHA!

What stupid commentary some of you people have. I see why so many of you come here to spew your anger, ignorance and hate. Obviously no one in the real world takes any of you idiots seriously.

by Anonymousreply 348November 28, 2021 11:53 AM

….”.are so hurt by what one person on an anonymous chat board said that you are now changing parties, then you were never with the Democrats in the first place! LOL” r348

You are not that stupid r348, so stop pretending that your voice has changed minds. Your not even the straw that broke the Camels’ back. You are just confirming for many what has been known for a long time, that so many of your ilk are intolerant and are unable to see past your narrow minded view of everyone who disagrees with you.

I will put it bluntly, as it is pretty obvious to anyone who reads through any threads these days, no matter where they are from, all your enemies, all the multitude of traitors and Fascists you see are just Centrist Liberals who have been left far far behind , in a different galaxy called rationality. It is a galaxy many on the Left have left long ago. All you do now is confirm all the confirmations we have about you. Intolerant and unable to deal with what is staring you in the face.

The extreme Left has helped create this disaster we are all in now ,just as much as Trump. You can’t see it ,because at the moment your ilk are more blind than Helen Keller before she met Anne Sullivan.

Good Luck ,you will need it.

by Anonymousreply 349November 28, 2021 12:48 PM

[Quote]You are just confirming for many what has been known for a long time, that so many of your ilk are intolerant and are unable to see past your narrow minded view of everyone who disagrees with you.

You Ma'am, sound like a fucking MORON!

R349 How am I "proving" anything about myself or anyone else typing on an anonymous chat board? LOL You don't even know who the fuck I am! You don't know me Ma'am! Please stop showing your ignorance (if you can)! LOL

And you really are leaving the Democratic Party based on what I or anyone else said on this board? Really? 😆😂😂 GO AHEAD! 🍿🍿🍿

The second part of what you typed I am not even gonna address because it is FAR MORE IGNORANT than the first part of your rant. BTW, I am not on the far left, so there's that....

Please stop with the attempts at sarcasm (you're really bad at it) and the pop psychological assessments (you're even worse at that). Stick with being misinformed and waging phony outrage (both of which you seem really good at).

You sound like a complete loon!

by Anonymousreply 350November 28, 2021 2:38 PM

Pretty sure the poster writing walls of text is one of the 400 pound ladies from Lipstick Alley.

by Anonymousreply 351November 28, 2021 3:02 PM

R338= low IQ

by Anonymousreply 352November 28, 2021 6:24 PM

R347, you are such a reactionary asshole that you can't even figure out that I'm not that other poster. You should start drinking or something before your face explodes.

by Anonymousreply 353November 28, 2021 6:29 PM

R350 is a moron. R349 knows what time it is and why rational liberals are fed up with the Democratic party of today. Unfortunately, there isn't any party that is good :(

by Anonymousreply 354November 29, 2021 3:12 AM

R351 is spot on. LOL.

R348/R350, you really need to stop. You, like most limousine liberals, are a terrible, ineffective evangelist. You'll never convert or convince anyone with your nasty, mocking, bloviating posts.

Condescending put downs didn't work for Hillary either. They cost her the election.

by Anonymousreply 355November 29, 2021 5:35 AM

R251 Why don't YOU go back to lipstick alley or your democratic socialist of America Blog or wherever you far LEFT Bernie crowd type from! You're a waste of flesh!

Oh R352, how original! Where did you get that from, the person who's ass you lick? AKA Trump?

R353 You are an asshole, that is all that matters. Most of you are such shitty people, why should I waste my time trying to distinguish you? I really don't care if you type under different IP address or you are a different dumb bitch! Result is the same, you are fucking stupid!

R354 You say stupid shit like "Knows what time it is" makes you sound like an ignorant ass Steve Harvey wanna be! Except, you're not funny, just pathetic. You're neither rational nor liberal so save that for fools that believe it.

R355 The only thing R351 is "spot on" about is the piss stains in her panties from her non-working cock. LOL Unlike you, I am not here to convert anyone. Do you really think I care what an asshole like you thinks? HAHAHA! I understand we live in a "likes" culture where social media has conditioned you to think you have no value unless u get agreement from the masses! I could give a shit what you bitter old queens.

I mostly come on here to laugh at how you bitter old washed up asexual queens think you have the solutions to all the worlds problems when you are as out of touch (and out of style) as Richard Simmons shiny tank tops and matching shorts! 😂

by Anonymousreply 356November 29, 2021 2:00 PM

Backing away slowly from poor, deluded R356. ^Yikes, that's some meltdown. LOL

by Anonymousreply 357November 29, 2021 3:58 PM

Adam Schiff is calling out that useless pussy, merrick garland because he knows that no matter what, garland is going to "refuse to prosecute trump". He'll do the 'for the good of the country we just need to move on" bullshit

I'll never vote again. Schiff has known this and he's been saying this for almost a month during the interviews he's given during his book tour. But today he's really, really putting it out their

Biden has surrounded himself with a bunch of useless, turkeys

Prosecute Trump for what, R358? So he can score another political victory after he’s found not guilty and struts out of the courthouse as a free man? They couldn’t convict Kyle fucking Rittenhouse, who murdered two people ON TAPE, and you actually believe a former President could be sent to prison?

by Anonymousreply 359November 30, 2021 9:42 AM

[quote]I'll never vote again.

I was just saying on another thread that a big part of the troll agenda is to depress voter turnout, and I see it's happening over here, too.

People should make sure to vote just to spite the trolls, if nothing else.

by Anonymousreply 360November 30, 2021 9:46 AM

R359 Rittenhouse shot in self defense because he was being attacked....

But yes, Trump has to commit a crime in order to be prosecuted for a crime. Being mean, being trashy, and being effective opposition to Democrats are not crimes. I'm not sure where this desperation to jail him comes from. It's third world.

by Anonymousreply 361November 30, 2021 11:01 AM

R357, I am not sure which pussy you are that chose to flame me, but that is never helpful. Instead of backing away you should have never started the shit in the first place. You'd be more productive if you stuck to the topics at hand instead of personally attacking posters. You're a shitty person. Now crawl back under your rock ya bottom feeding mother fucker!

by Anonymousreply 362December 1, 2021 9:13 AM

[quote] And yes, part of that will mean tapping into the ridiculous wealth of the ridiculously wealthy. Not because of some impossible goal of equality or equity, but simply because that is where the money is.

Good Luck with that.

by Anonymousreply 363December 2, 2021 10:09 PM

Uh oh, R362 is unraveling even more.

by Anonymousreply 364December 3, 2021 1:11 AM

R364 Just go away. You sound really stupid!
