The more I read about Lincoln & Johnson, the more I’ve come to the conclusion that Lincoln, like his successor, was more interested in restoration of the South than on its reconstruction. So the post-war years wouldn’t have been great for his legacy.
Whose death was a good career move?

Diana's death propelled her into sainthood. Prior to it, she was well on her way to being hated.

Whitney
Her singing ability was gone by the time she died so she just spared herself an additional few decades of drug-fuelled embarrassment.

JFK--his gross infidelities/drug use would have come out eventually. Thanks to Jackie (with the the media's cooperation), he became a saint and still is---60 years later. Dying relatively young and so publicly/violently, virtually sealed the deal--plus he had charm, intelligence, and that likability factor very few politicians have.

JFK Jr.
Had he ever been elected to high office (he never would have done better than US senator, but he might have made it because of the US obsession with celebrity), his gross incompetencies would have been quickly revealed.

As to JFK, I think the media of his time would’ve kept secret his peccadilloes, but his alleged affair with an East German spy was a different kettle of fish.

Joan Rivers got out while the getting was good in 2014. A couple more years and she'd have been canceled.

OP, you're a trolling cunt who has not read the primary documents (such as they are) related to Lincoln's intentions for Reconstruction. As Lincoln said that if it took a thousand years of war to purge the wrongs done by slavery, it would be God's just Will.
We are left with the result of the disgraceful, inhumane campaign that has been ongoing since the death of Lincoln. Light that with your idiot torch and stuff it as far as it takes for it to go out. Lincoln has nothing to do with how things are now, except, of course, that there remains in some form a United States of America.
Christ, these trolls.

I am the biggest Nirvana fan of all time.
But Kurt (well, Courtney and Frances actually) lucked out big time by his death. He's now one of the biggest dead celebs in the world. His music is still heard decades after released. He only wrote three albums and sold nearly 100 million albums. Every other kid you see has is wearing a Nirvana shirt.
If he'd stayed alive? He'd be a slightly better respected Eddie Vedder. Here, but not really here.
