Will the US pay its share of $750 billion annually to help poor countries mitigate climate change?

According to this article, rich countries previously agreed to pay $100 billion annually to poor countries to slow down climate change. The rich countries haven't made those payments. And now South Africa estimates that the annual bill is $750 billion.

I haven't seen what the current politicians in the US think we should pay. We can't even get money to keep our bridges from falling in. I bet lots of people would bitch almighty about paying other countries. But it seems fair that the US and other rich countries - who caused all the problems to begin with - should pay poorer countries to avoid the same practices that we did.

If it ALL went to climate change that would be one thing, but if we learned anything from Afghanistan it should be that most countries are corrupt including the US and much of the money would just disappear into the hands and bank accounts of corrupt officials.
