Ten Little Indians (1965) My Cast
I watched Ten Little Indians (1965) recently. It was okay. I felt like they tried to make a good British mystery with a subpar cast. There really are some bad actors in this movie. So I decided to make my own "who they should have got" cast:
Mike Raven, the jerk- Fabian (He's a terrible actor, but it is fitting)
Elsa Grohmann, the maid- Marianne Hoppe (small role and didn't want to waste my time)
General Sir John Mandrake- Andre Morell (he has that authority, plus that mustache). Basil Rathbone was also a consideration.
Joseph Grohmann, the butler- Armin Mueller-Stahl. He is a big bad German. Peter Lorre, my first choice, died in 1964.
Ilona Bergen, the actress- Raquel Welch or Sophia Loren. They both give off the sex appeal and both were gorgeous at this time.
Judge Arthur Cannon- George Sanders. For many years I thought Sanders was the judge in this movie until I rewatched it. I can't get him out of my head as the judge.
Dr. Edward Armstrong- Michael Redgrave. He is such a talented actor, he could paly anyone, but I think he would be the best red herring.
William Blore, the detective- Michael Hordern. He is a gruff looking Englishman. He was tall and can seem like a serious threat.
Hugh Lombard- Clint Eastwood. Perfect time in his career to be the American in an all British cast.
Ann Clyde- Julie Christie. Right off the success of Dr. Zhivago. Plus Shirley Eaton is the knock off Julie Christie.

[quote] Your thoughts?
My thoughts are you should do some homework before playing this game.
1. Just check who is alive and who isn't.
2. Find out who is on contract and who isn't.
3. Be aware that some performers expect to be paid half a million dollars for ten weeks of their time and others expect half a million dollars for ten days of their time. Some expect to be paid in alcohol to avoid tax.
4. Find out who is in the country of filming and who isn't.
5. Be aware that some performers HATE other performers. Some performers insist that their luvvie-friends be in the cast to save them from boredom in being in another tiddley-widdley, inane Agatha Christie made for pensioners and half-wits.

R3 John Gielgud is not the judge type. He's too smooth.

I watched 'And Then There Were None' (1945) recently.
It was in back and white and dreary. So I had to start fast-forwarding.

I still think this is a good cast. None of my list were divas of difficult in the mid 1960's.
