Netflix defending Chappelle, Spotify defending Rogan: Is this the beginning of the end for the Woke-ocracy?

Both companies are big enough and seemingly secure enough in their market position to say "Fuck you Twitter loudmouths, we don't care and keep on bitching because all you're doing is getting us more publicity"

Unclear whether this is a blip or if others will now be emboldened to push back against the thought police.

I like to think it is.

fingers crossed

I've noticed a slight shift - people on Twitter are pushing back (reasonably, I'd say) against users like Roxane for example, more and more.

I just hope it doesn't push back so far that it scoops up all the good strides we've made too. Just the silly stuff.

OP just wants to go back to talking shit about other people without consequences.

Seems like it might not be the greatest idea in the world to have billion-dollar corporations use their money and power to ensure that bigotry passed off as jokes and misinformation peddlers are given huge platforms, while the consumers are being literally told that bigotry and misinformation isn't actually harmful to society.

Their positions are based on profits, not ethics.

I saw a video clip in which Dr Sanjay Gupta was on Joe Rogan's show and he accused Gupta of working for the CNN network that lied about him using a horse de-wormer. He said he did take a human dosage of ivermectin which is a dewormer but not the horse variation. However a dewomer is meant to be used for worms and some other parasites, there is no evidence that it has any valuable effect against viruses such as COVID. But Rogan was harping on the difference between CNN saying horse dewormer and the human dose he took. The absurdity is that Rogan told his listeners that ivermectin was among the cures he took when he began experiencing COVID symptoms, but he was claiming that it helped him get better, when in fact it was the other meds that helped him recover quickly. It was a theater of the absurd.

I'm not saying someone as rich as Rogan couldn't have gotten Stromectol (human Ivermectin) but prior to him getting sick, we were told that it was impossible to find because people had been demanding it be prescribed, and that's why people were using the paste instead.

There is some small indication that Ivermectin can inhibit the "docking" of the COVID virus, but that's only been in vitro. In actual humans, they've noted that you have to take something like 100 times the normal dosage to get inhibitory factors, and even then they may not actually help.

That means if it DID help Rogan, he must have taken horse dosages, not human dosages, to achieve that 100 times the normal human amount required to potentially cause an inhibition of viral uptake.

They were only “woke” to protest Trump now that he is gone it’s back to being normal again.

by Anonymousreply 9October 15, 2021 11:33 AM

Trans-radicalism was the tipping point.

by Anonymousreply 10October 15, 2021 11:39 AM

R9 Is he gone, though?

by Anonymousreply 11October 15, 2021 12:37 PM

There never was a “wokeocracy.” If there were, people like Tucker Carlson would have been vanished a long time ago. People who complain about this are just sensitive to criticism because they’ve become so used to being powerful.

Don't mess with Chappelle.

by Anonymousreply 13October 15, 2021 12:52 PM

It's ok to trash sexual minorities, straight people don't care.
