If they caught the sepsis in time he will survive but if it has spread too much the odds of survival for sepsis is 1 in 5. Very dangerous infection. I've had it and luckily they got on it quickly enough before it could spread to organs.

I'm thinking a UTI that wasn't diagnosed quickly.
I didn't know Patty Duke's came about from a ruptured intestine. Opioids?
by Anonymous | reply 34 | October 15, 2021 3:08 AM |
I’m still so sad about Patty Duke.
Anyway, I know another actor who had sepsis but it was caught quickly and she recovered just fine. You’d never know she had it. And it was right after Duke died—a few weeks later. I won’t mention her name because I don’t know if it was ever made public. She was traveling for work and got a bad stomach virus, which led to really bad diarrhea, then sepsis. But it was still caught early and though she was very sick in the hospital, she was out in a few days.
I suspect the same will be true for Clinton.

If Bill Clinton had been born not too many years later, we’d probably have never heard of him, at least in the political realm. He would never have made it not too many years later as a Democrat in what became deep red Arkansas. That’s likely true if he hadn’t also started his run for political office there at an unusually young age. Of course, the political animal that he was he might’ve just been a Republican.

Pope John Paul II died from UTI related sepsis.
Final illness and death On 31 March 2005, following a urinary tract infection,[272] he developed septic shock, a form of infection with a high fever and low blood pressure, but was not hospitalised. Instead, he was monitored by a team of consultants at his private residence. This was taken as an indication by the pope, and those close to him, that he was nearing death; it would have been in accordance with his wishes to die in the Vatican.[272] Later that day, Vatican sources announced that John Paul II had been given the Anointing of the Sick by his friend and secretary Stanisław Dziwisz. The day before his death, one of his closest personal friends, Anna-Teresa Tymieniecka visited him at his bedside.[80][273] During the final days of the pope's life, the lights were kept burning through the night where he lay in the Papal apartment on the top floor of the Apostolic Palace. Tens of thousands of people assembled and held vigil in St. Peter's Square and the surrounding streets for two days. Upon hearing of this, the dying pope was said to have stated: "I have searched for you, and now you have come to me, and I thank you."[274]

I worked as a home health care assistant once upon a time, and also later in life at a senior services agency, and you wouldn't believe how many seniors (women and men) were taken down (and by that i mean died) by UTIs and ultimately, sepsis. it's along the lines of "he broke a hip and it was all downhill from there" although much faster acting without proper and quick treatment.

by Anonymous | reply 88 | October 15, 2021 11:27 AM |
R34, you can get sepsis from "a ruptured intestine" that = anything from a small ulcer to a large tumor. For an ulcer to go to sepsis you'd have to be elderly or neglect it for a while, I imagine.
UTIs often cause confusion in older people until treated so, especially if Hillary was away, he might have let it go unattended because it made him unable to realise he had a high temperature, etc.

The other problem is that the antibiotics used to treat sepsis frequently cause kidney failure, so the doctors have to maintain a delicate balance between getting rid of the sepsis and not letting the patient go into kidney failure.

by Anonymous | reply 104 | October 15, 2021 2:04 PM |
R102 I think it can be a lot more unhealthy for your body to become overfamiliar with antibiotics.
Instead, stay well hydrated, go to the bathroom when you need (don’t hold it), and if you start feeling anything off down there, especially if it feels like you aren’t fully emptying your bladder when you pee, don’t hesitate to go to the doctor.
by Anonymous | reply 105 | October 15, 2021 2:05 PM |
Yes, R102. Of course. Just ask your physician if she will put you on a "low dose" antibiotic permanently.
Of course that's the way to create unmanageable bacteria in your body, but hospitals always are looking for untreatable infections to spread over their ORs and hallways.
by Anonymous | reply 106 | October 15, 2021 2:08 PM |
R103, that is not the cause. Your organs atrophy as you get older, and aren’t as efficient. Urine and bacteria get trapped in there as a result.

R117 don’t worry about that. Unless you have Crohn’s disease, see a doctor immediately if you are running a fever and unable to stand up straight from the pain. A ruptured intestine is an easy catch for most people. It’s UTI or dermatologic origin sepsis that’s harder to catch.

I think part of the reason Clinton looks so bad is that he’s a fading star, and that’s very difficult mentally for someone who loves the adulation of crowds. Obama pushed Bill out as the rock star of the Democratic Party, and with #metoo Clinton is in danger of being asked about the old charges of sexual assault and harassment or about Monica pr about his association with Epstein etc. every time he does an interview. And with Hillary’s defeat, his dreams of getting back to the White House (a place he admits he would have stayed at forever had he been able to find a way to run for more than 2 terms) are dead. Plus, the Democrats have become pretty hostile to his Third Way brand of neoliberal politics that was so popular in the 90s. It must be hard to see Biden and other Democrats basically apologizing for all of the stuff that Clinton pushed back then (e.g. the crime bill, NAFTA, deregulation of Wall St, etc.).
I imagine Clinton is a lot like LBJ was at the end. Johnson had almost died from a heart attack while a senator and he’d been forced to give up smoking. As they were leaving DC in 1969 after Nixon’s inauguration, LBJ’s daughter saw him light up a cigarette. She was shocked and when she yelled at him his response was something like, “I don’t care. I have nothing to live for anymore. Everything I ever wanted is gone.”

Clinton only has himself to blame. LBJ inherited a war and the expectations that America had to win it, because they never lost a war.
by Anonymous | reply 137 | October 16, 2021 1:50 AM |
LBJ believed he would die young - as had all Johnson men - & that was a prime factor in his decision not to run in ‘68.
by Anonymous | reply 138 | October 16, 2021 1:53 AM |
R137, it’s not like Clinton rolled up into a ball and disappeared. He really has had an active retirement. It’s interesting you bring up LBJ. LBJ was a notorious womanizer, probably the equal of Clinton and his predecessor, Kennedy.
by Anonymous | reply 139 | October 16, 2021 1:58 AM |
Back in LBJ's day there was no bypass surgery, no angioplasty and no blood pressure medication. Treatment for heart attacks have come such a long way. I know a 90 year-old man who had a heart attack 30 years ago, and another man who is now 78 and had a triple bypass 25 years ago.
by Anonymous | reply 140 | October 16, 2021 2:12 AM |
R140, bypass surgery was around by then. But LBJ’s heart was too weakened for the doctors to attempt it. They believed he would die on the table. Bypass back then was incredibly invasive.
by Anonymous | reply 141 | October 16, 2021 2:29 AM |
Oops r140, I realized that you might have been referring to when LBJ was a senator. The first bypass was in 1960, well after LBJ had his first major heart attack.

R145 I would never go vegan. I think that is some horse shit. Eating good food is one of the few pleasures we have that won't kill us if we do it in moderation. Going cold turkey on everything good is a fate worse than death.
by Anonymous | reply 148 | October 16, 2021 3:33 AM |
R137 I’m not making excuses for Clinton. I’m just saying that power crazy people such as Clinton, LBJ, and Teddy Roosevelt who get their energy from being worshipped by the masses don’t tend to do well in retirement or when people turn on them.
R139 I know that he used to have an active retirement but I’m not sure what his life is like now. They scaled back the Clinton Global Initiative when she ran for President, he’s had to deal with MeToo stuff when he’s done interviews, and the plan that he and his wife would be back at the center of power fell apart when she lost for the last time in 2016. I imagine there’s a difference when you think you’re retiring but your wife will become President in a few years compared to realizing that your family is done in presidential politics
by Anonymous | reply 149 | October 16, 2021 3:53 AM |
He had to go vegan for health reasons, remember, he already had a triple heart bypass, then a stent put in a few years after...

R154 And your point is....?
by Anonymous | reply 155 | October 16, 2021 6:17 AM |
I had sepsis twice at kind of a young age (27).
I thought I had a muscle pull in my neck. Just a persistant pain below my throat. The urgent care gave me a cortozone shot and said my next step is the ER. I waited stupidly for like a week because the pain went away with the shot. I'd had muscle pulls there before so thought it was that.
Anyway I did end up in the ER. I stupidly ignored one night where I woke up in a complete sweat (I just thought it was a fever or the room was too hot.)
I did have a UTI too. I just had one incident where in the middle of the night where I thought I was about to pee and it felt blocked.
Anyway turned out I has some odd case of pneumonia (no coughing, cold symptoms) and it infected my blood.
by Anonymous | reply 156 | October 16, 2021 6:39 AM |
(continued from r156 because this part is important.)
I think CNN and Sanjay Gupta are lying. The said Clinton will be off iv drugs and on pills soon.
I was told if the infection gets in the blood you have to be on IV for six weeks. I was on it for that and then it didn't kill off the infection completely and it came back a week later and I had to go on IV anti-biotics again for 6 weeks.
The first infectious disease doctor was some dumb foreign med grad in rural Florida where I first got sick.
The second doctor whom I really trusted was a pioneer in AIDS treatment in my home city and recommended by my doctor who was once chief of staff at the hospital. .
To sum up I can't believe Clinton will be out of the hospital and ok so soon. It was a long road back for me and I wasn't his age.
by Anonymous | reply 157 | October 16, 2021 6:44 AM |
When I had sepsis/septic shock (intestine, four bacterial infections in my blood, went to ER after onset of rigors) I was on IV antibiotics for less than a week and then they released me home on oral antibiotics. I think it depends how responsive yiour infection is to the antibiotics.
by Anonymous | reply 158 | October 16, 2021 6:53 AM |
wow r158. I'm confused now. I remember vividly being wheeled passed the infectious disease guy on my way to a test and stopping to ask him if I could please not go on iv again. That's when he said the stuff about if it is in the blood it has to be IV.
Maybe what kind of infection it is matters. The first doctor was like good news its not MRSA. It was something else.
(ugh this thing with Clinton is so triggering for me. I woke up with a jolt today. Man that was an awful experience. I wish him well. Come to thing of it George HW Bush was septic once a little while before he died. He got over it though and lived a while longer and then died of something else.)
Maybe some doctors will chime in.

by Anonymous | reply 165 | October 16, 2021 9:22 AM |
R159 I was definitely on multiple IV antibiotics during my hospital stay, it was just the six weeks minimum that I was saying wasn’t always required. But oh my goodness, you need IV antibiotics immediately. Within minutes of getting to the ER they had three IV lines in me. And sepsis is by definition a blood infection. And yeah super traumatic. Thank goodness they had to put me on IV benzodiazepines to stop the violent shaking so there is a lot I don’t remember.
by Anonymous | reply 166 | October 16, 2021 10:19 AM |
The shortest amount of time you can be on antibiotics is a week. They have to have time to work. Antibiotics is ALWAYS one of those medications they tell you to take until the regimen is completed regardless of how you feel.

by Anonymous | reply 168 | October 16, 2021 3:11 PM |
You can switch from IV to oral antibiotics though, it is discontinuation altogether that leads to trouble.
Back to Former President Clinton I am assuming his infection did not lead to shock so here’s hoping his hospital stay wasn’t so bad.
by Anonymous | reply 169 | October 16, 2021 3:12 PM |
Cranberry juice even unsweetened still has too many natural sugars in it. I am not sure how the whole cranberry juice myth got started in the first place. Maybe because it is tart? No clue, but no, sorry r168

Cranberry has been proven to prevent UTIs in women.
by Anonymous | reply 172 | October 16, 2021 3:18 PM |
Cranberries have an abundance of proanthocyanidins, which keep bacteria, particularly e coli, from sticking to the bladder walls. Cranberry juice or cranberry solids (in pill form) have some utility in keeping UTIs at bay, if other precautions are taken.

I have a friend who is dealing with sepsis right now, he was going to be on 14 days of IV antibiotics (the last six days at home) and that was it, but I haven't heard from him in several days so I suspect they're going to have to go longer. But he was told only 14 days at first. Clinton may not be as sick and therefore be able to leave the hospital earlier with a home IV antibiotic.

When BernieBros rewrite history...
by Anonymous | reply 178 | October 16, 2021 5:53 PM |
R176 I don't think Democrats are Republicans, I just think they're weak as a party. And Clinton made them weaker with his impeachment.
There are some good Dem candidates here and there but as a party overall it sucks because it's way too easily fractured.
Republicans are not any better but they always stick together. Plus with gerrymandering, appointing Judges and systemic voter suppression they have built a system that ensures their success most places. All they need is an R by their name.
Battleground States/Districts are not battlegrounds for the GOP. Democrats always have to work hard to get them. GOP only loses when there's both an extraordinary Democrat and a perfect storm otherwise the default is GOP. They don't have to work for it.
Trump would be POTUS right now if anybody was the GOP candidate but him. The infrastructure is there for a GOP win.
Dems need to reset the table. But to do that we need candidates who are both good campaigners and good public servants.
Very few Democrats can do both. That's why laugh when Dems go on tv and say: "We can walk and chew gum at the same time."
No Sir. No Ma'am. You can't.
Get it together Dems or we'll lose our country!

by Anonymous | reply 183 | October 16, 2021 6:32 PM |
It made him more popular, but it made Gore decide to distance himself from him when he ran for President which allowed W to squeak out a win (with a Supreme Court assist.) R183, A lot of Democrats don't like to hear this, but Clinton's impeachment did weaken the party.
HE won in the short run with high approval ratings, but WE as a nation lost in the long run and we're still paying for.
Partly due to what R184 said and partly due to what (or whoever 185 is) said. The impeachment made Gore distance himself from Clinton. Gore may have miscalculated, but we don't know. Polls aren't always right (2016). Also, we don't know what Gore's internal polling was.
We know Clinton's impeachment helped the GOP drag Hillary for 20 years and it hurt her in 2016 primaries & general as it was raised.
Clinton was impeached for lying (on tape). Everyone knew he lied.
His impeachment also helped form the precedent for the tribal politics of the GOP which allowed Trump to lie over 30K times in office with impunity and gave the GOP precedent to acquit Trump despite everyone knowing he had lied about EVERYTHING.
Like it or not, this is part of Clinton's legacy.

Everyone gets their just desserts... Kosovo war criminal, creator of Operation Desert Strike, imposed sanctions on Iraq that helped kill children and vulnerable people, imposed santions on Iran, tightened the American stranglehold around Cuba, supported the economic gutting of the former USSR (which caused millions of deaths and untold devastation), worsened Bush's horrible policies in Somalia, ignored the genocide in Rwanda, is guilty of completely deregulating the financial sector, dismantled the welfare system condemning millions of poor people to lives of destitution, promoted the crime bill, supported the privatization of the prison system, militarized the police, devastated both the US and Mexico's economies with NAFTA AND was good friends with Jeffrey Epstein.
I won't say that he is a rapist because the jury is out on Juanita Broaddrick's and Paula Jones' allegations, not to mention that Leslie Millwee and Kathleen Willey are clearly opportunistic liars. R191, you are only partially correct. The Republicans claimed an entitlement to the Presidency since Reagan. They were pissed that he beat Bush 41 and instead of an AUSA appointed to investigate Whitewater, the Appeals Court appointed Ken Starr. That turned into a several year circus with Starr going on one fishing expedition after another. Once both branches of Congress were Republican, they openly hunted him, hoping to beat him in 1996. He beat them anyway and then they were bound and determined to ruin him.
Gore, who was dipping his own wick plenty, was never in a position to be high-handed and judgmental with Clinton. Further, the democratic party was hurt by more than the Clinton impeachment. For starters, the southern Democrats were completely opposed to the Civil Rights laws enacted in the mid-60s and made Manchin and Sinema look like small potatoes. Little Rock closed the schools after Eisenhower sent in the National Guard to integrate Central High. The local newspaper sided with segregationists at the editorial and ownership levels. Its leaders welcomed Ken Starr with open arms and dug up every piece of gossip and innuendo ever created about Governor Clinton and his so-called carpetbagger wife, who were interested in creating programs to help the poor and racial minorities.
President Carter made a much better former president than president. He had noble aspirations, including improving the environment by reducing energy consumption, but, inflation went through the roof and after Iran captured the US hostages and held them, he really looked powerless on both fronts. That did not help the Democratic party either. Republicans were already becoming tribal during Carter's term and became more so with Reagan. The Christian Right were already taking over local offices at that time, including local school boards. The libertarians and Christians did not have similar beliefs and were going to keep losing, but Lee Atwater came up with the idea of going after both sets by making the Republican party anti-abortion and adopting other positions that were not strictly libertarian. That was Reagan's platform and it is the reason Republicans consider him a god. Meanwhile, this just fueled other conservative organizations to develop long-term plans to take over the leadership of the US government. Clinton was a winner so they had to ruin him. He also made gains against Republican policies and got some mid-ground, which Obama and, so far, Biden, have been unable to do.
The man had some hubris but there is plenty of blame to go around. 20-25 years of lies about the Clintons, including the exaggeration of the relationship with Jeffrey Epstein and so progressives, who don't read history, find it easier to make cheap jokes. The man had a heart attack years ago and his cardiologist put him on a vegan diet. He was not going to go prancing around after women at that point. He didn't have the energy. He also wanted some kind of legacy, but democrats apparently bought into the Republican lies about Clinton like Trumpers are buying into the lies about Covid and vaccination. He looks lousy because his diet sucks. He may not be totally vegan at this point, but he's close and it does make him weak and susceptible to infections.

R227, I never said the relationship was nonexistent. But Epstein, like others with private jets, were attractive friends. Clinton had 8 years with Air Force One and possibly a private plane as governor. To go back to commercial flights would be a pain. Every president except Carter has flown in private jets for travel, provided by wealthy friends. The exaggeration is the implication that he spent all these weekends sexing around with Epstein at his private island. As I noted, he had his bypass surgery and a limited diet that weakened him. He's looked like shit for years. He left office in 2000 and had his surgery 4 years later. Apparently, he'd had increasing symptoms prior to that. And I don't think Hillary would countenance much of any extra-marital activities after the fiasco that led to the impeachment. Tipper Gore had had enough and she quietly divorced Al once the VP left office. Bill would have had a very hard time without Hillary, especially since his surgery.

Good lord, you're acting like having a heart attack and bypass makes someone a cripple. Lots of people have had both and continue to live active lives. I wrote above about two elderly men I know who had heart attacks decades ago and they've been fine ever since. I know several other people who also had heart attacks and stents/bypass and they kept right on chugging along. It's not like it was years and years ago.

r179 There were articles about the strategy to get Reps to change party and run as Democrats. There were also articles about the strategy to gerrymander in certain states to make districts lean more GOP. At the same time there was a push to fill the courts with conservative judges. Everything we are dealing with now was reported about in the last 40 years.
r177 the "real" Democrats were those in office or running for office whose politics backed things like the social safety net, universal health care, regulations on Wall Street and banking that Clinton destroyed. . . you know stuff like that.

Up until the 1970s Irvine was agricultural (primarily orange groves surrounded by windbreaks of gigantic eucalyptus trees) and the "city" of Irvine was just a couple of buildings where 2 roads intersected. In Orange County as kids we would scare each other with creepy tales of "Old Lady Irvine." Nowadays, of course, the entire area is built up as business parks, housing tracts and other commercial stuff. It's sad, if you ever saw the idyllic lrvine of 50 years ago.

Bill Clinton doesn't have any blood pressure. Viagra or Cialis is NOT allowed for men with quadruple bypass surgery. He ain't been hard in a decade. He's as flaccid as the commenters here. Not allowed is not the same as not advised. He'd fucking die the second time he tried to fuck. He's impotent. Not dead. Like some old gay man who lisps. Flirt away. Christ. He's gross.
There are no more confusing political figures in the USA that Bill and Hillary Clinton. I won't get worked up if Bill dies. Nah. He's historically seismic, but personally weak as fuck. He doesn't stand for much but ambition and gross compromise. Nobody chooses Arkansas to make democratic reform. Bill and Hillary DID crawl over concentration camp bodies to reach their destiny. Not without living with them first.
Hillary don't come from a town called HOPE, doesn't have the pale slender hands of a savior and never much minded that her hard work showed. She IS a much better person than Bill Clinton. She ain't made of sugar water. That's substantial. Either Clinton might slit your throat. But it's he who taught her.

Hillary has since admitted she should've taken an advisory role on healthcare reform instead of leading it. She was right. I don't think she was aware at that time how much she as hated by Republicans. I think it actually took her by surprise.
You have to remember this was the early 90s when a Boomer, feminist woman on the national political stage was still a new thing. We're so used to it now (not just Boomer women, but younger ones as well) but back then there was a LOT of hand-wringing and bullshit over it, because it was such an obvious sign that things were changing at the highest levels.

R228, do not be ignorant. The intervention in Kosovo was driven by NATO, but the US led the coalition and Bill Clinton directly spoke in favour of this. He approved the plans to bomb Serbia with depleted uranium (WHICH IS A WAR CRIME), and approved the bombing of civilian targets - ANOTHER war crime, my darling.
The President argues that Washington must not allow small conflicts to “fester and spread.” But U.S. policy has consistently failed. Somalia was a disaster, reconciliation is a fantasy in Bosnia, Haiti now enjoys a presidential instead of military dictatorship, only diplomacy kept the peace in Korea, Iraq remains recalcitrant, and U.S. threats have changed nothing in Kosovo.
The Iranian sanctions have caused unspeakable misery to millions of people and have escalated to atrocious levels over the years, not to mention that Clinton made an awful situation created by Bush, turn a million times worse in Somalia. Also, the World Bank and the IMF (which are controlled by the US and its allies) led the dismantling of the Russian economy under the despicable Boris Yeltsin. I guess you're one of those people who claim that Communism is to blame for everything and Putin is trying to rebuild the USSR, right?

He's a president and then a presidential funeral with all the participants - so it would provide the lonely losers here with at least a month of observation and mourning. Internet vampires. DL only has about 72 regular posters and they get lonely/bored in between deaths and murders and natural catastrophe. That's when they post about Joan, Liza and Judy!
Clinton deserves more than the once over from this crowd. A lot of gay men over 65 seem to like to see others fail. In health and life. He's just a man. Not one worth projecting too much upon.

R279 the American Journal of Political Science published an analysis of the data in the 1990s that if Perot hurt anyone, he hurt Clinton more than Bush. If you want to cling to a Republican talking point that was deployed to undermine the legitimacy of Clinton’s presidency and excuse Bush’s loss, I guess that’s fine, but quit acting like all of the best data available is “just an opinion.” Pretending that some opinion pieces you found via Google are the same as rigorous analysis of the data by trained political scientists is like suggesting that the scientists at NASA have an opinion about whether or not we went to the moon and a website you found has an opinion that it was a hoax staged by Stanley Kubrick and reasonable people can disagree about which opinion is correct.
by Anonymous | reply 322 | October 20, 2021 4:21 PM |
R322, it’s not a Republican talking point and I’m not a Republican. I for one am glad Perot hurt Bush, because Bush sucked. I don’t think it undermined Clinton’s legacy at all. You cite one place for your argument, and I acknowledge that it is definitely a legitimate argument. There is data that points otherwise, though, and it’s not by people who think the moon landing was fake. Bad can agree to disagree, but the end result was good for the country.
In any case, it all turned out great… Poppy Bush was defeated. He never should have been elected in the first place.

Any updates on this? Did Clinton’s sepsis come back to kill him yet?
by Anonymous | reply 326 | October 20, 2021 4:54 PM |
R323 I would just like to know what the data is, because as far as I’m aware there is no serious data pointing to your conclusion. It’s typically more of an argument like, “In spite of the data, had Perot not distracted Bush, then Bush would have been able to destroy the Clinton campaign.” And that’s simply conjecture, the same as arguing that Bernie Sanders would have beaten Trump in 2016 or that Reagan would have beaten Carter in 1976. And THAT is what the poster I originally responded to (I don’t know if that’s you or not) was accusing someone upthread of doing: rewriting history.
Beyond the question of Perot’s voters breaking even for Clinton and Bush in the exit polls and analysis showing that Perot’s voters were demographically more like Clinton’s than Bush’s, before Perot entered the race Bush’s approval rating in Feb 1992 had fallen to 39%. Only one president in the history of polling (Truman) has won an election when his approval rating has fallen below 40% in an election year. And Pat Buchanan led a rebellion on the right against Bush’s re-election in 1992 that fractured the party in a way that’s never helpful for the party in power in an election year (Democrats in 68 and 80, GOP in 76 etc.) Finally, Truman is the only incumbent president since records began to have won an election in a year when the unemployment rate ended higher than it had been at the end of the previous year. So Bush faced some very strong headwinds without Ross Perot.
And this idea that Perot cost Bush the election was absolutely a GOP talking point deployed to question the legitimacy of Clinton’s presidency from the start. The entire argument is that Clinton never had the support of a majority of the voters, and that had it not been for Perot, that would have been clear to everyone because Bush would have defeated Clinton.
And honestly I don’t give a shit about any of this. I don’t care if people believe Perot cost Bush the election. But the person I was first responding to took the attitude that anyone who didn’t know that it was a proven fact that Clinton only won because of Perot was an ignorant Millennial Bernie Bro trying to rewrite history who needed to be educated by the smart Boomers who knew better. And the fact is that among political scientists who study and analyze the data, the idea that Bush would have defeated Clinton if Perot had stayed out of the race is (if it even exists) a minority opinion unsupported by any data I’m aware of. And that’s all I wanted you (or whoever that original poster was who I was responding to) to acknowledge.

R327, thanks for your post. For the record, I didn’t say that Clinton wouldn’t have won anyway. I said that Perot damaged Bush more than Clinton. But you make excellent points.
by Anonymous | reply 328 | October 20, 2021 6:17 PM |
I forgot all about Ross Perot.
by Anonymous | reply 329 | October 20, 2021 6:58 PM |
Has this affected donations to the Clinton Foundation?

R331, that is what he’s looked like for the last fifteen fucking years.
by Anonymous | reply 332 | October 21, 2021 2:33 PM |
I actually met him seven years ago, R332, and he was healthy and energetic.
And insanely charismatic.
So, not 15 years. Maybe 5.
by Anonymous | reply 333 | October 21, 2021 2:37 PM |
I’m glad he’s home and I hope he’s with us for a long time to come.
by Anonymous | reply 334 | October 21, 2021 3:05 PM |
He’s definitely looking his age, but to be fair, he’s no spring chicken!

R338 well, if you were married to Shrillary. . .
by Anonymous | reply 339 | October 22, 2021 5:29 AM |
What's the deal with his sweater? Is that a pineapple on it?
I fear the same person who bought Hillary the Mao Tse Tung yellow jacket bought Bill that sweater.

Mitt is on the threshold and looks 1000% better.
On the other hand, can anyone explain to me why he agues that education should be handled on the local level and the federal government should have no involvement BUT then turns around and complains about the federal government giving money to his state who didn't really need it... Isn't his complaint with his own damn STATE government for accepting money they don't need?
by Anonymous | reply 341 | October 22, 2021 3:22 PM |
R331 Bill doesn't look as frail as he sounds. DAMN! I wanna hand him some water so he can clear his throat.
He's not a bad looking man. At 75 yo he is 6'2" and still working with a head full of hair and not all bent over or out of shape. His neck is starting to wrinkle but his face isn't bad. Those Irish genes coulda destroyed him.
He needs a makeover though.
Bill looks like an old nun (AKA an old lesbian). He needs to let that 1980s haircut go, grow some facial hair and embrace his Daddy status! A nice little trimmed silver beard would look nice.
A little sun wouldn't hurt either. He's giving me a little Casper the friendly ghost vibe right now. I didn't like the skinny jeans when he left the hospital. He's too old for that. And as mentioned, that awful sweater doesn't help.
by Anonymous | reply 342 | October 22, 2021 4:46 PM |
HOSPITAL=vacation from Hillary
by Anonymous | reply 343 | October 23, 2021 8:30 AM |
R343, I think they already lead separate lives.
by Anonymous | reply 344 | October 23, 2021 10:26 AM |
What on earth is that sweater?
It’s just a genetic lottery. I know an 80 YO who looks ten years younger than Bill and golfs everyday, and spent his life eating the food Bill used to with no heart issues.
by Anonymous | reply 345 | October 23, 2021 10:47 AM |
R344 now they no longer have anything to lead so they are stuck together as old couples frequently are.
by Anonymous | reply 346 | October 23, 2021 5:46 PM |
At this point, I think a makeover is pretty far down on Bill's to-do list.
by Anonymous | reply 347 | October 23, 2021 5:49 PM |
r344 They even have separate houses.
I can remember Barbara Walters interviewing him when his memoirs came out. His office where he wrote was basically a smaller house behind the main one.
He "joked" that it had a bedroom so if he's up late writing he doesn't have to disturb Hillary when he goes to bed. It was odd. It was sort of like he was saying that he lives there all the time and she lives in the house.
by Anonymous | reply 348 | October 23, 2021 9:41 PM |
As long as they remain married neither can be compelled to testify against the other
by Anonymous | reply 349 | October 23, 2021 9:49 PM |
R348 Barbara Walters has spend the last decade in seclusion shitting in her diapers and Bill who looks like death warmed over isn't going to Epstein Island anymore or even playing golf and Hillary with her fainting spells and falls and low blood pressure are rather stuck with each other more than ever. And no one believed they were sleeping in the same bed or bedroom for decades.
by Anonymous | reply 350 | October 24, 2021 12:26 AM |
Bingo R349 aka Carmela Soprano. I thought everyone realized that is why Shrillary always Stood by her man! They can't stitch each other up. Bet the Holidays around their home fires are a bundle of fun.
by Anonymous | reply 351 | October 24, 2021 1:04 AM |
R236, provide a list of trips by date and length of stay. Otherwise you are a Trumper just making stuff up.
by Anonymous | reply 352 | November 6, 2021 4:03 AM |
R299, everything is off because of trolls like you. Conservatives robbed the government of millions on a fishing expedition and then spent another 20+ years lying about everything connected with the Clintons.
by Anonymous | reply 354 | November 6, 2021 4:12 AM |
Fox News reported in May 2016 that Clinton went on at least 26 trips aboard Epstein’s plane — the “Lolita Express” — between 2001 and 2003, according to flight logs from the Federal Aviation Administration. Listed as the destination for those trips were exotic locales like the Azores, Singapore, Brunei, Norway, and Russia, among others.
So if this is fake news, Clinton should sue FOX News, right?
by Anonymous | reply 355 | November 6, 2021 4:16 AM |
If even those slimy fucking pigs Ken Starr and all his minions couldn't find anything incriminating about Clinton, then there really is nothing there. Those pigs were obsessed for years with finding anything incriminating at all about him and even they had to admit he never did anything illegal in regards to Whitewater, Travelgate and all the other stuff they investigated. All they could get was that bullshit perjury charge in a civil case where he lied about a private sexual matter, which was pretty weak.
by Anonymous | reply 356 | November 6, 2021 4:16 AM |
Fox News, R355?? Of course they did. And they say that the COVID vaccine causes all kinds of problems and January 6 at the capitol was just a harmless rally.
by Anonymous | reply 357 | November 6, 2021 4:18 AM |
r357 you're simply too stupid to address or insult. besos
by Anonymous | reply 358 | November 6, 2021 4:27 AM |
Bill skipped Colin Powell's funeral on Friday.
Hillary sat in that front row like a widow.

Hillary sat in that front row like a widow.
She wished, If Bill had the good grace to die in October, 2016 the sympathy factor would probably have pulled her across the finish line
by Anonymous | reply 360 | November 6, 2021 5:57 AM |
If she had listened to Bill in Oct. 2016 and focused on the rust belt instead of trying to flip AZ.............the whole world would be different today.
by Anonymous | reply 361 | November 6, 2021 6:17 AM |
R352 so what do you suppose the relationship between Clinton and Epstein was about? or for that matter the relationship between the Clintons and Trump? So much in common
by Anonymous | reply 362 | November 6, 2021 8:27 PM |
The Clintons and Trump are cut from the same ruthless cloth. Trump's more dangerous though because he's mentally ill.
Hillary could not go full throttle on Trump in 2016 because they have mutual secrets.
Trump is needy and desperate and will say or do anything because he has A LOT less to lose - he's already a reviled figure.
I don't believe Clinton was fucking with kids down on Epstein's "Fantasy Island." Horndog? YES! Pedpphile? I don't think so. Those are two very different things.
Who knows what Trump was doing down there since he is crazy.
I think everyone down on that island was up to something shady and probably illegal which is why they had to get rid of Epstein.
by Anonymous | reply 363 | November 6, 2021 8:51 PM |
Very weak analysis. Instead of just making it up as you go along, why not read some history about the conservative right and what they got up to, getting Reagan into office and subsequently? Additionally, we do know that Gore made the wrong call, because Clinton had very high popularity and there was little support for the impeachment.
Check out Democracy in Chains by historian Nancy MacClean, and the Shadow Network by Anne Nelson.. Clinton was not perfect, but the real history shows that the hijack was on well before Clinton.

R364, I don't have to read books or listen to whine about things you know nothing about, because I lived through it.
I'm a Democrat and I can admit that the Clintons have done some low down shit. That is the biggest problem with politics today is people get into tribe mentality and hold these people up as gods! They're not.
What does Gore have to do with this? Nobody even mentioned him. Are you on some kind of stream of consciousness shit or what? LOL
Was Trump on a whole different level of corruption? YES! Is there a comparison between the two? NO, but I am not gonna excuse the shady shit the Clintons have done just because it doesn't fit your narrative.
I am well aware of GOP corruption and how they chased Clinton down to find something, anything on him. I also know that the GOP and the Democrats have red lines that they won't touch with each other.
There are things politicians know about each other, just as reporters never touched on Kennedy being a horndog and a hoe, or showed FDR in a wheelchair. There are all kinds of secrets. Don't be so fucking naive. None of these people walk on water. This is politics!
by Anonymous | reply 369 | November 6, 2021 11:30 PM |
What does Gore have to do with anything from the environment to the internet?
by Anonymous | reply 370 | November 6, 2021 11:32 PM |
The poster who mentioned Gore was saying Gore’s 2000 campaign should have embraced and used Clinton instead of pushing him away and trying to distance Gore from him. I agree that might have won Gore the election.
