What modern Christmas songs would you like to become Holiday Classics?
The only modern Christmas classic is Mariah’s insufferable song that you can’t escape from November-January 1st. What other modern Christmas songs (or modern covers of a classic) would you like to become classics in their own right and be played years from now like the classics are every Holiday season?
I will get hate for this, but Gwen’s Christmas album is actually good and she made it a fun listen. I love “My Gift Is You” and “Under The Christmas Lights”. I would love the prior to be a song people love years from now.

Leona Lewis’s entire Christmas album is excellent, but this original title track really deserves to be a holiday classic.

After hearing Op's song for the first time, Gwen should be
sued by Duffy & Ben E. King's estate for that travesty.

Is "Last Christmas" modern? That's my choice. I don't know any of the songs posted here.

That's not true. Josh Groban's Believe is also a modern day classic.

Nothing by Gwen Stefani should ever be played anywhere at anytime. Her voice sucks and so does she.

This version of "Do They Know It's Christmas" is so perky and upbeat, it's almost *creepy* considering the song's actual lyrics.
That said, I wish they'd make a small change to the lyrics for the sake of scientific accuracy:
And there won't be snow in Africa this Christmas time...
Because it's in the southern he-mis-phere ("mid su-uh-uh-mer")

Most of Africa is tropical, hence no snow, period. Hemispheres become irrelevant. And BTW, most of the continent is in the NORTHERN Hemisphere.

[quote] R20] Ok?
I was responding immediately to r18’s faulty reasoning (lack of snow in Africa has nothing to do with the little bit of it that’s actually south of the equator) but r19 got there before me hence the resulting non sequitur

I meant to say lack of snow in Africa at Christmas time…

"Present Without a Bow" should be a holiday standard:

A beautiful song, one of Freddie’s last. He wrote it when he was in a Swedish medical clinic in the final throes of AIDS.

R20. Mount Kilimanjaro and the ski resorts in the Atlas Mountains beg to differ.
