Of course they’re known for their super bubblegum pop hits, but after Geri left they released this song, and it’s actually good! It’s definitely better than most of their previous output.
Of course the album didn’t sound like this one song, but it should have. It’s actually very good. And they looked great!!!!

The first 2 Spice albums were a mix of songs produced by Absolute or Biff Stannard and Matt Rowe.
When Geri quit she asked Absolute to work with her, and they did so, knowing they'd never work with the other 4 girls again.
When the Spice Girls had their break Biff was busy working with other pop acts, notably Kylie on Light Years,
So the Spice Girls worked with Rodney Jerkins, who had produced Destiny's Child, Toni Braxton, J Lo, Whitney, Brandy & Monica etc and the best song they came up with was Holler. And they worked with Jam & Lewis on If You Wanna Have Some Fun which was supposed to be the second single but by that point no one cared.
When Spice Girls came back with Holler in 2000 there other girl groups who were doing that sound better. All Saints had had 2 massive UK #1s with Pure Shores and Black Coffee and Destiny's Child were massive with Independent Woman. And then Sugababes and Girls Aloud came along and showed the Spice Girls how to do creative and inventive pop.

By this point, all four members of the group were over being Spice Girls. Each had released solo material in the UK & Europe and all four of them each scored a #1 or #2 on the UK charts prior to the release of "Holler". They put the single "Holler/Let Love Lead The Way" out as a double A-side in October 2000, which became a UK #1. Then they put out their third album "Forever" on November 1, 2000, which they barely promoted and it underperformed in pretty every territory it was released in. Mel C was way more focused on her solo career and Mel B had just put out her debut solo album less than a month before "Forever" was released. Emma and Victoria were also working on solo music around this time, so they really had no interest continuing the group.
